A Zippier Memverse
This weekend we rolled out a global content distribution network for Memverse. In the past, all the web pages were loaded from our data center in California. We are now using Amazon's content delivery network which allows a lot of the content on each page to be delivered from Amazon's (much faster) data centers which are distributed all around the world. Those of you living outside the US should notice substantially faster page loads now.
If you aren't using one of the latest browsers, it is always worth upgrading. Web browsers almost always get faster with each new release. Many of you would get faster load times by using the latest version. Faster load times means more time spent memorizing your verses, and less time waiting around.

Wow! It is noticeably faster. Praise the Lord for giving you the idea for this website Andy!

Did this change by chance take place Saturday, Dec. 3rd? Or possibly Sunday?
Matthew Minica says:

In one of your recent changes did you apply the refreshing thing that the Recent Comments page does (you know, refresh every 5 minutes) to the Leaderboards? Because right now, I have 2 more verses memorized than the Leaderboard says I do.
Matthew Minica says:

I really appreciate how much faster it loads the My Verses page... that was starting to bug me after a while! Thank you!
Andy says:

@Matthew Yes, the leaderboards are cached for an hour so they don't refresh in real time any more but they load a lot quicker.
@Seth Yes, the update happened on Saturday evening.

@Andy- Well, hopefully it's unrelated, but about that time I started having trouble with memverse. For some reason, when I go to the 'memorize' page, it won't let me do anything; I can type in the verse, but the feedback doesn't do anything, and the skip button and the 1-2-3-4-5 buttons don't do anything when I click on them. I tried to log out, thinking that if I logged out and then logged in again it might work, but I can't logout either. I just says there was an error. Is it possible that the new updates aren't compatible with Internet Explorer? Anyways, I'm kind of stuck. Any ideas?
Andy says:

Seth, which version of IE are you using?

@Andy- would Windows be an answer to your question? If so, I think that would be it. I don't know a lot about computers.:)

Thanks so much for this great system! I have a very tight schedule, and this is really helping!
Andy says:

@Seth - actually I'm asking what version of Internet Explorer you are using?
(Also, if possible, it's always better to post problems like this on the feedback site. I can't remember whether you have access but it is monitored much more closely.)

Andy or Alex - I didn't know where else to put this, since the GetSatisfaction forum is working for me...
On the "Recently on Memverse" it says "Bethany Pentimone has memorized Luke 2:5...Luke 2:6...and Luke 2:7. What I thought was very interesting is that I didn't memorize any verses today, and if I had, I'm not learning anything out of Luke. The only other possibility is that there is someone else on Memverse, that has my exact name...and Pentimone isn't a very common last name :) Jsut thought that was a little odd...
EDIT - One more thing...also, it says that she memorized it about 2 hours ago, and I was on Memverse 2 hours ago, typing out verses. Hmm....
Andy says:

Bethany, it looks as though possibly someone else on the same computer ('Heather'?) memorized those verses and since they didn't log out after they had finished, the little mice who write up the Tweet Reports got confused.
If you're sharing a computer with others, always log out when you're done.
Bethany Pentimone says:

Andy - Yes, after I wrote this comment, I realized our mistake (Ur...my mistake). Anyways, thanks for your help! Also, did it go on her account that she memorized 3 verses, and not me?
Alex Watt says:
12/10/11 at 18:40:36
Bethany - They got marked memorized on Heather's account, not yours, even though the tweets say it was you. (You don't have those verses in your account...)

Andy, I got the problem fixed. Now I can appreciate the fact that it is going a lot faster than it used to. Thanks!

Not sure if this is the place to ask, but is there any way that the search Bible feature could be version specific (choose your version)? Also, for example if I enter the word HEART in the search box, should it come up with every verse in every version that has that word? I don't think that it does.
Anyways, I feel bad when memverse (not memverse itself:) is doing such a good job, to be so critical.
Thank you anyway!
Alex Watt says:

Anna - You can add the Bible abbreviation to your query; "heart ESV" would return only verses with the keyword "heart" in the ESV translation....

It works for different versions that I tried, but it won't work in NASB. I used a bunch of different words, too. Is there anyone who can help me?

I'm having a problem here.
Can a verse be changed from memorized to learning through reviewing it? If so, I....um.....didn't know that.
My number of memorized verses went down one, and I didn't delete anything or change anything on my verses page.
I also looked through the ones that say "learning", but I didn't see any that had been memorized that now are not. I'm confused.
Bethany Pentimone says:
02/07/12 at 21:38:05
Anna Mieczkowski -- Yes, it can. If you rate something at a 1 or 2, the interval will come down to 1 day. If you rate it at 3 through 5, it will stay the same or go down some, but it will not un-memorize it. Make sense?
Alex Watt says:
02/07/12 at 23:44:28
Anna and Bethany - Just to clarify, anytime you tell Memverse that you remembered a verse (3 - 5), the interval goes up (or stays the same in some circumstances). But if you tell Memverse that you couldn't remember (1 or 2), then the interval drops to 1 day and the verse is considered "Learning" instead of "Memorized."
Anna Mieczkowski says:
02/08/12 at 02:23:09
Thanks so much, you guys! That does make sense, Bethany.

Anna and BBJ12- I think the violin is a great instrument. I am learning to play the piano. Maybe one day I will learn to play the violin too...
