Reporting Errors in Verses
We have made it easier to report errors in verses. If you look at your "My Verses" page you will see that the final column shows the status for each verse:
- [Editable] - if a verse is shown as being editable it means that you are the only person currently memorizing that verse and you are free to edit it to your heart's content. Please don't take this as an opportunity to enhance the work of the bible translators. Make every effort to have the text match exactly to the translation of your choice. (We highly recommend using Biblegateway or Youversion).
- Pending Verification - once a second person starts memorizing the same verse, it will be flagged to be checked by one of our moderators. At this point you will no longer be able to edit the verse.
- Verified - Once a verse has been checked by a moderator, it is classified as verified and should no longer contain errors.
- Error Reported - If you find a verse that has already been verified but has an error, you can click on the word, 'Verified' and it will flag the verse to be checked again. If you accidentally report a verse as having an error, don't worry, just click again and it will revert to being classified as verified.
Again, when you're entering verses, please make every effort to not make mistakes. We now have thousands of verses being memorized and over time, we'd like to eliminate the manual verification process entirely so that we can spend as much time on other features as possible. We usually have most verses verified within 48 hours but occasionally fall a bit behind. If a verse says, 'Pending Verification' one of our moderators will definitely get to it at some point.
Please note: Verses which are 'Pending Verification' in your list of verses are not to be confused with memory verses that are just 'Pending' (inactive) in your account. For more information about the second type of 'Pending' verses, please see our post on Pending Verses.

As a bible bee host, we have noticed that there are slight variations even among the same translation based on the date of publishing. I'm not sure how to handle this except to maybe choose a specific date and let all NIV verse challenges fit that date of publishing. Thank you for upholding the true Word of God.

Thank you for your attention to detail. That level of thoroughness will certainly be blessed: "Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments" (Psalm 112:1)

just checking: Did you really mean to say (above, after the subhead 'verified')
"Once a verse has been checked by a moderator, it is classified as memorized and should no longer contain errors."
don't you mean "verified" in place of "memorized"?
Your site is the best! Thank you!

As Jeanine mentioned, I know this is true of NKJV. I don't know the details of when or how many but there have definitely been revisions between printings.

Andy, I've entered a verse, and then realized immediately afterward, "Ah! I missed a comma!" or whatever, :) and gone to fix it, but it just says Verified. I've never been able to edit a verse, except one time, but I know that someone else had also added it, and then it was editable. . . Help?
Dezmond Ghafouri says:

this will be really helpful for helping me fix messed up verses
Chancellor Ghafouri says:
11/24/10 at 21:19:57
so when we have our verses verified it means that you have completed the verse
River La Belle says:
11/25/10 at 17:45:47
Chancellor Ghafouri, "Verified" in your "My Verses" list, means that they are correctly entered with all the right commas, periods, and all the right spelling and everything else right.
When your verse is marked as "Memorized" is when it is 'completed'.

Thanks for making this a priority. I think some of us were worried the manual entry process would be too risky, but the community has turned out to be spectacularly accurate...Copy/Paste helps, too.

when i add a verse then go in to "my verses" next to the new verse it says pending in status but when i click it it gos to learning why?
Alex Watt says:
09/27/11 at 14:51:11
Amy - Sorry for the confusion. There are two different types of pending: "Pending Verification" (which means the verse text needs to be verified for accuracy by an admin) or just "Pending" (which means the verse is not active in your account and is almost on a to-do list of memory verses). To learn more about the second type of "Pending", please see here: http://www.memverse.com/blog/main/Pending_Verses. We'll update this blog post to include a short explanation of the difference. Thanks.

I have seen several of my verses being displayed without punctuation in the live feedback area when I am typing them in, but when I go on to the next verse, the previous verse is without errors of any kind. Does anyone know what this is about?
Alex Watt says:
12/21/11 at 17:35:54
Sarah - The live feedback should always be perfect with punctuation. So if you insert a punctuation mark incorrectly, it should not show it... and if you omit a punctuation mark, it should show it...
When you go on to the next verse, it does show the previous verse perfectly.
If, however, you are saying that there should be punctuation in the live feedback but there is not, then please let us know which verse and version this is occurring with and we'll look into it. If you can, it is best to report errors through the Feedback tab on the right of the page.
Thanks!

I am having problems when trying to memorize a verse. Sometimes when I type in a verse and rate it , it asks me to do the verse again. Does anyone know what is going on?
Alex Watt says:
12/23/11 at 13:50:44
Ian - The problem may be related to something unusual that happened on our end or something with your internet connection. If it happens again, please let us know. If you are able, you can report it through the "Feedback" tab on the right of every page. Thanks!

I have noticed that the last word in Isaiah 58:8 (KJV) in Memverse is 'reward', but my Bible says 'rereward'. Another Bible says 'rearward'. How do you determine what is correct?
Andy says:
02/11/12 at 06:48:21
Vicki, it looks as though it should read 'rereward' which is an obsolete English word for 'rear guard'. I will correct it.

Abigail,
If you're sure there is a mistake and reporting the error the proper way is ineffective, you can always click the feedback tab to your right and specify the correction to be made.
