2013 Locals!!!

And, just like last year, I'm the first back from Locals. :) How did it go for everyone?

The written test seemed much harder than last year. I barely finished. It seemed like the questions were so vague! Did you notice that at all?

I didn't like the written test at all. It was very complicated. But orals were….. Fun. ;)

Yes!! I definitely noticed that. It seemed much more like a Nationals test. I was behind for much of the time, but I asked God to help me catch up and PTL, I finished with 2 minutes left. I was able to review a few questions before the time was up.

How was the oral round? I got it perfect as far as I could tell, but I was a little rushed at the end (I wasn't expecting all those long passages) and the timer beeped as I was saying the last reference.

What rank did you get? PTL, I got 1st!! I was really happy about that. :)

I didn't finish the test. :( I was like on 150 160 somewhere around that. And i skipped a bunch.
I think I only got 3 or 4 points off on orals. :)
I didn't place but Josh got 2nd in Juniors. :) Ian will probably be on to tell u what happened with him… :) lol

It's funny, last year they skipped all the longest passages in orals. This year, they took out a lot of the shorter ones! I think they took out John 17:3, Psalm 119:160, 1 John 1:9 and Proverbs 28:13-14. I didn't really expect that. Thankfully I still got done with my verses.

Yeah, you're right. I got all my verses done, though I did have to start over on one of the passages. (left out a phrase…) I think I got them perfect, but I wouldn't be surprised to get anything 295+.

For the written, I had about a minute left, but I was rushing a lot towards the end. My sister (who was #70something last year) wasn't even able to finish! she had about 15 questions left. We were both very surprised at the difficulty level.

Do you mean what was my rank for our Bee? I got #1st. :)

Yeah i liked that they included the longer ones like acts 10:38-43 and Philippians 3:8-11.
I hated the written test though. I wish they would just state more plainly what they want to know to test your knowledge instead of making you interpret 5 different parts of the question before u can even think about answering it.

BTW we should be carful what we say….what if there is a bee in HI ??? We don't want them to se what the passages are!!!!We hosted one there before :P! So don't say to much about the questions :)! I also thought the written test was WAY harder then the other years! I usually finish with a whole bunch of time but this year I finished with only 10 mis left :(! The written was fun though :)! I got second in our bee :)!After the bee our host gave each contestant their scores and I was only a few points behind first place :)! Our Bee was SO much fun :)!!!

Pretty good:) The written was harder than past years, but I somehow placed first! Not sure if I'll get into Nationals though…

Well Thanks :)! How do feel about how you did? Do you think you'll make it? I don't know about myself… I probably won't make it :(! The WRITTEN TEST WAS SOOOOO HARD! It was probably 3 times as hard as the hardest on of the years!!!! How many years have you done the BB?

Hey everyone! I've never participated on these forums before…but I'd thought I'd give it a try :). Locals went pretty good for me! The written test was the hardest local written test I've taken since 2009. But I managed to finish and still do pretty good on it!

It would take a miricle for me to make nats. :) lol I failed the written test, but I felt good about orals.
I think you'll make it. :) everyone was conplaining about how hard the written test was. The test was so agitating.

Don't worry about the scores, guys! If you all thought it was hard, that is a VERY good sign. It means that probably everyone thought it was hard, so all the scores went way down. In that case, you shouldn't all worry about not qualifying. Everyone in the nation probably had the same difficulty. :)

I'm on the way home from Locals!!! And as you said, the test was SOOOO difficult!!!!! I didnt even finish…got to about 170, and went and filled in the rest with all the same letter. Orals went well, not passes, start overs, prompts, etc :)
Can't wait till Wednseday!!

Ditto!!! I was Junior that year as this year, (you might have been senior) But that test was WAY easier than this years!!!!! They really didn't ask anything about what they told you to memorize!

Yeah, I did not like those questions about Greek words that were not in the SS. Thankfully I already knew some of them and I could guess on some of the others.

Yeah. I'm still mad about just the way they worded the questions u had to solve like 5 equations before u could even think about answering the question. Then u had to solve the answer.
