BB Dutch Blitz Game

So, should we have a big Dutch Blitz game at Nats, and teach everyone who doesn't know?

We have three sets of cards, but may only be able to bring two.

Ah… It's really too bad but… I don't think I will be able to make it for that game… But I am sure someone else will greatly enjoy this idea.

We should make sure all the sets of cards have different markings so they don't get mixed up.

Oh, man, I've GOTTA make it!!!! I have a set of cards too, if you want me to bring mine. Just let me know. (I'll lose terribly because I'm SUPER slow, but I still love the game. :D ^I'm so slow that even my Dad beats me. :P^)

What markings do you have on your cards? One of our sets has an 'M' in the corner, and the other has a big circle in the middle.

I don't have any marking on mine, but I could probably come up with something. Like do my initials, or something. (BM or BLM)

I think that would be best to keep track of them.

Probably not. Sorry… Normally though we do competition style. Instead of one big group game…it ends up too big. :P

Hey guys, I know it's not ^really^ the same, but there's this game called Nertz, and it basically is Dutch Blitz except using standard decks of cards. If we did it this way, everybody could bring their own deck, and we'd be able to tell everyone's apart by the different designs on the back.

If I brought my Dutch Blitz game, I'll mark it with a star on the back, unless someone else has that. (That's kind of what my mom and I decided on, anyway.)

@emma - Yeah, I guess it would work with regular cards too, though I don't know if we'd be able to bring those 'cause I'm not sure where our decks are. :P

Well… everybody could bring a couple of decks so that there would be enough for people who don't bring them and want to join in ^or ahem can't find their decks! jk^

Good idea! Just for the record - the Alexander's are really good at Nertz! But, what is interesting, is that I think there is a BIG different between Nertz and Dutch Blitz because the decks look so different and it throws me off now just seeing a standard card on the table ^(if that makes any sense)^. But, our family who has played Dutch Blitz for years, have a hard time with Nertz. But, I have got some practice on it the last couple months with the Alexander's, so I'll bring some decks of ours if I can! Good idea, Emma!

Well thank you! I know, it is way different as far as the feeling of it… it's also way more fast-paced because there are more of any given card, so more people can try to put down the same card at the same time. But, I was just thinking it would save us the trouble sorting out all those cards that are the same except for some little mark on them, you know? I could bring a few decks, too.

Nertz is fun, but, though we have about twelve decks of cards, they're all the same back, and all mixed up, because we play Hand and Foot with them.

I can bring a deck of cards as well (I'll try to remember :).

Are you talking about Dutch Blitz, or Nertz? I would say bring your Dutch Blitz and/or one or two decks of cards. It's always nice to have an extra DB anyway, for when you're with people who don't have one. :)
Then again, if you don't want to, I'm sure we'll have enough; and, if we play Nertz, I hope to bring more than one deck of cards so that people who don't bring them can play. :)

Okay, I'll get my DB cards marked and see if I can hunt down our regular cards. I think we have some with trucks on the back from my dad's work…. maybe he can find those. :P :)

I don't know how to play Nertz…I was talking about my DB set =) They aren't marked…and I don't think I have to time to mark them! xP lol…I might bring my set.

Nertz is the same as Dutch Blitz except with a regular deck of cards, so each pile that you make can have a total of 12 cards instead of 10 and I think you have a couple more cards in your blitz pile to get rid of.

Nertz sounds similar to Headache, which I am… okay at :P

Noope… All the homeschoolers in Ohio play it all the time! Me and my best friend were always left out because we don't likes it!

Nope! Almost every homeschooler I've met, and that's a lot, plays DB. Except in AK, as far as I know.
