Bible Bee Events

We just had our kick-off meeting today, and it was a blast! Octavius and Christ's Handmaiden and their younger siblings were there. Sparky and his family was there. Our pastor's family was there. We had volleyball, kickball, and waterballoon slingshot-ing. :)

It was very fun. I'm very much looking forward to more events this summer.

Does anyone else have any events coming up or that happened today?

Our Bible Bee kickoff meeting was Saturday.
Not a whole lot of people were able to make it, but it was a LOT of fun. Meeting new people, talking with old friends…. One of the sets of twins in our Bee were having their birthday that day, so we all had birthday cake, which is always a lot of fun. :)
Told a few people about Memverse as well. :D

Our July event is at a local creation science museum with a nice, big outdoor park. I've worked there over the past several months, so it'll be great to introduce it to the Bible Bee families!

@ all HRBCers: How many of you know if your family is coming or not? I think I heard that the Detwilers RSVPed, but is there anyone else?

I think we're going, I don't think there's any way we'd miss it!

Yeah, once, like a LONG time ago…….when I was like maybe 9 or 10 I think….

That's about how long it had been since I had been there when I started working there last fall.

I hope I get the pleasure of helping all of you guys do the zip line! That would be extremely fun!

We were not able to attend our first event in June, unfortunately. However, we will be going to a Bible Bee event tonight! Our contestants will be taking a 100-question practice test made by Bethany Pentimone, Joshua Smithe, and I. We aren't doing the event anywhere special, but it's an event! Before, our Locals has only had the Celebration Day and nothing else.

I forgot to update about how our July event went.

Everybody seemed to have a really good time. I had fun helping people with the zipline, but I was disappointed that several of my friends, whom I was counting on sending down the ride, were too chicken to do it. cough-cough Sam cough-cough

But it was fun. Everyone either got a tour of the creation science museum, or they got to sit in on a "Creature Feature" and learn about and hold live animals.

Now we get to look forward to the August event, the rehearsal for the big contest day!

Chicken I was not, but doing other things I was. If come we do the next time you are working, go down it I will. Oh, and preoccupied with Mikey I also was, so guess you can how busy I was with him.

Our mock-Bee went very well today. I thought the written test that Matthew made was great practice for the Juniors and Seniors. And the Oral Round with no time limit and only 4 passages was great to get the new contestants used to the concept of reciting before judges.

Anyone else from Heritage want to comment about how they felt it went for them?

Our mock-Bee meeting was today as well! (I forgot to post when we had our second meeting…sorry!) We all recited 5 passages in 3 minutes and did a 50 question test in 15 minutes. Afterward, us and some of the families went to a park to run around. :)

We are having a Bible Bee event tomorrow. It isn't a mock Bee like you all had, but I'm still looking forward to it :)

How many people do you all have in your local groups? We have about 130 contestants, but I know that they won't all be competing.

Courtney and I held a mock Bible Bee at our home yesterday. (Actually, we did the oral test this morning and the written test yesterday.) I ended up with 844, and Courtney got 850. It wasn't exactly a Bible Bee event, but it is worth mentioning.

We are having our last Locals event tomorrow before Celebration Day. We will have a mock oral test and a video on exactly what will happen on Celebration Day.

Our Locals event on Tuesday went great. We had about 70 in attendance (including about 30 contestants). We watched a video about the procedure of the Oral Test. Then, many of the contestants went up to the front and quoted a randomly-selected memory verse from ones that they knew, for the mock oral test. Last event: CELEBRATION DAY!!!

My throat was soooo sore from laughing so much. :) And my voice still sounds a little hoarse…. :D

Aw, no fair! I really am excited about our BB but it is about an hour and a half away so we don't know if we will be going to the meetings or not. :( Oh well..

@Emily: That's great. I don't know when our first Bible Bee meeting is. I really hope that it is soon.

Emily, our first BB meeting is this Saturday, at our house! Our house is being scrubbed from top to bottom right now!

I can't wait! I have a lot of fun at these get togethers! My throat will probably be sore at the end of the day too… ;)

Oh that's so neat it's going to be at your house!! I know, it's so great to be able to see everyone again=D BB meetings are awesome….:)

Well, I learned when our first Bible Bee meeting is :( It's next Sunday at 2:00 :( Soooo….we aren't going to it because our service is in the afternoon.

Oh, that is sad! I'm so sorry. But, I'm sure you will learn a lot at your service. Hopefully you can make it to the next one!

Rachel, our host is the kind of person that plans everything out months ahead of time, and makes sure you know what's going on.

Our Bible Bee meeting went really well! We didn't really practice anything, just talked over some memorization tips, and applications for the Bible. But after that we were able to have a time of fellowship and playing outside, which was really fun. I can't wait till our next Bible Bee meeting on August 3rd!

Wonderful! I'm glad for you! How's your studying coming? What day of the SS are you on?

My studying is coming along well, although I'm sure I could be doing more :) I completed Week 4 Day 3 today. What about you?

So, I just found out when our next BB meeting is! It's on July 23.

Sweet! That's my sister's birthday! :D I hope you learn a lot!

NEAT! Now I've found another person who's birthday is in July!!!!
