The thread for key words was a great idea, so here's one for cross-references we find as we study Nahum. As Courtney said, two opinions are better than one! (especially for such an open-ended part of studying as finding CRs)

I only use CR's from the memory passages. I haven't looked through all of them yet so IDK if I will adopt this strategy this year.

How do you determine which cross-references to use? We have several Bible with different cross-references, and my mom has a book that contains nothing but CRs. I could be there for days on one single verse! :P

Also how do you find cross-references for key words? I looked in the Strong's Concordance and got dizzy. I need help. :P

I agree with Everett, that's it's usually best to stick with cross-references from the memory verses. You could just do a find in the PDF file and find all the usages of that word. And you could download the Junior and Primary verses to look for them as well, but the Senior verses are the most important to find cross-references in.

Do you have a Hebrew and/or Greek dictionary? Often they include some, not all, of the usages of that particular Hebrew/Greek word. I think it's more manageable, in some cases…

Okay, so far I haven't found much, but I've only memorized 100 verses so far and I haven't really looked through the cards. :P I think we do, but I'm not sure. Thanks for the tips! :)

No problem! Going too far in the area of key words/cross references has been a hard thing for me, when I didn't really need to know them for the competition.

As I said, there are a lot of cross-references from the memory passages. If you want more outside of them, that's good if it helps you understand Nahum. I doubt that they will be asked on the test as they are too subjective . My advice is to not focus too much on CR's; understanding the content of Nahum is much more important.

E-sword, Logos, blueletterbible.com, and biblos.com are all good for finding CR's.

I agree with Everett. Plus, if you're going to study the cross-references, don't just try to memorize the references. If anything, just make sure you really understand how they tie in with ideas presented in Nahum or Jonah. To my memory, it's not often that they mention a particular cross-reference in the actual test (unless it's a memory verse).

I like that idea about sticking with the memory passages for CRs (much less daunting. =P I wasn't really aware of how hard finding CRs on our own could get when I made this thread).

But I'm wondering - what about reviewing the CRs for Jonah? Definitely, or not necessary?

Hey guys, do they cover stuff from Locals on the written test? And if so, what do they cover?

Yes; pretty much everything. I'd say maybe 25-30% of the content on the Nationals written test is Locals content.
