Those would be a couple of my favorites (oh, wait… all of the books of the Bible are… :D), but I really hope it will be Galatians. :)

I hope it's Titus (but Galatians would be really neat too, because we are {still} studying it at church!), although all those sound great!!! I'm very excited to see what book I'll be studying (I'll study it whether or not I qualify)!

Wouldn't it be likely for it to be 1 Timothy, following the pattern of last year? I think James would be great for a Local Contest study book, but I think it'd be too challenging to do without a Sword Study. But I can definitely see Titus as an option, since it's only 3 chapters long, as was 2 Peter.

They probably won't pick Jude this year because they did 2 Peter last year, and those two books are very alike.

Nope. From the Competition Rulebook: "At the time of notification of the National Competition Qualifiers, the National Qualifiers will be assigned an additional book of the Bible to study inductively, without an additional Sword Study."

@Christian: I studied James last winter without a Sword Study, and I did just fine! :) That's why I'm hoping it will be James.

I guess I meant since it's five chapters long. It helped last fall that 2 Peter was only 3 chapters, since we were studying by ourselves. But I guess if it came easily to you, and since you already studied it yourself, you have every right to hope it's James! ;D

Uh. I'm really hoping for Titus. Anything beyond 3 chapters is to long, because we're going to be learning 600 verses as well, in less than 3 months!

But, at least it's not up to us to decide, because I don't think we could agree on anything…everyone has their own ideas, as do I :)

I'm guessing 1 Timothy. But I was wrong last year with my guess…

It just seems like a clever thing to do. Instead of starting with the first book (1 Timothy – which is 6 chapters), they pick one that's easier to handle in 20 minutes per day (2 Timothy – only 4 chapters). Then they surprise us by going backwards.

If 1 Timothy was any shorter, I'd probably say so too. But 1 Timothy is rather long. Then again, there's only been one book so far that we've had to study for Nationals, so there's not much of a precedent for anything.

Hmm... Maybe they will surprise us with a Minor Prophet! Maybe Jonah, or Nahum, or Habakkuk?

that would be cool!

It's so long!!! I really did not think they'd do 1 Timothy!!! I'm excited to start working on it!!! =D
