need help memorizing verses

I am a little intimidated by the big passages in the Bible Bee. Since this is my first year in nationals I am not used to passages being this big. Can you give me any tips on how to memorize them?

Prayer is the main thing you need. Lots of prayer. When you get to a hard passage, pray to God that He will give you grace to memorize it and keep it in your memory, and that He will teach you something from it. And remember to pay attention to what you are memorizing, meditating on it. The verse I'm memorizing right now is so beautiful:

"Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,"

With verses like that, though long, you can memorize it quickly as you use it as your personal prayer to God. It's amazing how fast you can memorize a passage this way, and how it brings you closer to your Father!

I give a hearty AMEN to what Nicolas just said. Prayer is what has helped me SO much! It's through Jesus Christ that we can do anything (Phil. 4:13)

SBG - that passage is VERY beautiful! What version is that/are you using? I love the verse selections that NBBHQ chose.

That version is the NIV 1984, the version that I am using. And yes, the Bible Bee HQ did a very good job in picking good verses this year. :)

yes say the verse three times and them say each word out loud three times and once you memorize the verse write it on a piece of paper and then erase some of the words and fill in the blank

Ian R. - this is my first year doing Nationals as well. Last year i was a Junior timothy and this year I'm Senior National. What division are you in this year?

All - What was the longest passage National trackers memorized last year? This year the longest passage is 9 verses.

@Rachel – I'm thinking it was 17 verses. Seniors had to learn John 3:1-21 as well, but they couldn't ask that all together because it came in seperate parts, if that makes sense….

Cali, unless you are as absentminded as you're claiming and appearing to be, you really should stop with the deceit. You're just digging a deeper hole for yourself. I'm sorry if I'm sounding harsh, but I really don't appreciate it that you're not telling the truth. And I'm sure that no one here can appreciate all the things that you're telling us about yourself if we can't be sure it's the truth. So you should either clarify and give a really good explanation for why there's a lot of inconsistency in the things you say, or you should tell us the truth and apologize for lying.

Were you just teasing when you said you won 3rd in nationals, and if so, why? Because there were no winners in the history of the Bible Bee with the name Cali. Unless Cali isn't your real name?

Well we all lie, so there's another one. ;) I know enough about what you've said about your life to know that it's very unrealistic and hard to believe. And on top of that, it already seems pretty clear that you lied about winning at nationals, which means you lied about getting rich because of those $10,000, and therefore you didn't get a "rich boyfriend with big mussels."

I'm not shutting my mouth now, because I want to hear some explanations. Unless the mods get involved, I want to get to the bottom of this.

Okay, you literally made me laugh out loud with this post. Now I am totally confident that this is all a joke.

Oh, and by the way, your name may be Stephanie, even though you've been leading us all to believe that it's Cali, but unless it's Anna or Sophie or Benjamin, we still can't believe you that you ever won 3rd place as a Junior at Nationals.

P.S. My goal is not to be liked by you. I am merely exposing all of the lies and inconsistencies in what you've been telling all of us. If you have a problem with that, then this is a deeper issue. Why don't you just quit all of this and start telling us the truth. I can guarantee that people will start liking you a lot more…

Well I think They gave us WAY to few. I like the amount They gave us last year MUCH beter.

Maxwell- I totally agree with you! I had all my verses memorized a week or two ago, plus I am naturally memorizing the book of 2 Timothy from reading it so much!
