I'm really glad with how I did, because it was a lot better than last year! My last year placing was 76th, with an end score of 666! :D

Olivia Davis, the top Primary competitor, was 90 points ahead of the second-place Primary!! She did better than the third-place Senior competitor!! o_O

And amen, Bethany, all glory be to God!!

His Servant II (Bethany)

We saw that =) She did very well, because all other scores (other than her's, if I'm remembering correctly) are lower than last year. Well, at least the majority of them are.

Are you looking forward to being a senior next year, Nicolas? :D

I was hoping I'd do better… but this is my first year, so I'm still pretty glad just to make it to Nationals :) Good job everyone!

Like Andrew I was hoping that I'd do better but God had the results in his hands. Our dad had each of us choice a verse to think about if we didn't make it to semi-finals. The verse I thought about was Psalm 13:5-6

"But I have trusted in your steadfast love, my heart shall rejoice in your salvation, I will sing to the Lord because he has dealt bountifully with me."

Am I looking forward to being a Senior? I suppose so… I'm not quite sure yet. I've always been a Junior, so this will be quite a change, I'm sure. From what I've heard, I'll have to study REALLY hard to do well as a Senior… :)

Anyway, I don't know if anyone already noticed this or not, but Bethany Xiques, who made first place last year and got out in Semifinals this year (and I have to point out, she got out because of ONE word in the LAST quotation of the LAST round), would have made first place if she had recited perfectly all the way through! She would have certainly made it to the Finals if she had just said "until" instead of "unless" (or the other way around, I don't remember), and she would have won again had she recited perfectly in the Finals. In the Dessert Reception, her family sat at the same table as ours, so my mom feels especially bad for her. :( But of course, we have to remember that God meant everything to happen the way it happened. Again, all the glory be to Him!

I placed 39th in the Senior division overall.

Written score: 492

Oral score: 256

Overall score: 748

I didn't do nearly as well as I was hoping on the oral round, due to some unexpected time pressure because of my judge. Come to think of it, I didn't think I was going to miss 36 questions on the test either. That seems a little high to me. But I'm very glad I did better than I did last year. And I again am able to take what I learned this year and apply it to study harder for next year. I left the results in God's hands before I even competed in the preliminary rounds, so I'm satsified with what He did with my abilities.

@ Thomas Youngman: Wow! You were so very close to making it on stage! It would have been great to see you up there! I hope you make it next year.

@ biblebeebunny: Yes, we mean your preliminary scores.

Just click on "local contest day scores" on the homepage. I think they accidentally posted it in the wrong spot, but that is where we all found it. :)

Thanks for the encouragement, COS, but this was the last year that I was eligible. (Unless they would plan to have Nationals much earlier than they typically do :)) Congratulations to you as well! I trust this was not your last year, so now you have two years of experience under your belt.

Higher than I expected on Orals - I thought I had missed two passages at the end, but I only missed one. However, I got much lower than I expected on Written. Fifty-seven questions wrong is a record low for me. I did better than I thought I would, rank-wise - I didn't really expect to beat more than a few people. :)

You did really well, Matthew - a LOT better than I did last year as my first time as a senior. Last year, for the orals I missed 48 points (I didn't even get to 4 of my passages!). And on the test, I missed 62 questions!

You're a winner, no matter what!

Hey guys! This is so exciting that you all were at Nationals! :-) It is so encouraging.

I have the privilege of working part time as an assistant to the accountant at the Shelby Kennedy Foundation. And let me tell you, this organization is amazing! You all are such an inspiration! Keep up the good work! :-)

LORD willing, I will be at the 2013 Nationals. :-)

God bless!

In Christ,
Bridget
