Does anyone want to start guessing for when Memverse will reach 200,000 memorized verses? I will go for September 19.

Lois Rochelle memorized the 190,000th verse on August 26
rainbowchocolatecandy memorized the 195,000th verse on September 9
Deborah Unruh memorized the 196,000th verse on September 11
Rebecca King memorized the 197,000th verse on September 16
SavedByGrace memorized the 198,000th verse on September 19
Clara H memorized the 199,000th verse on September 23
Clara H memorized the 200,000th verse on September 26 at 12:22 UTC!

September 3 I think you guys are guessing too late…but I would think that just to be contrary :P

That's 11 days! How are you planning that? Do you know something I don't know?

I put down how many verses were memorized five days ago and then subtracted that total from yesterdays total. Then I divided that answer by 4 since yesterday five days ago would have been four days ago. Then I added what I got on a calculator until I got to 200,000 and I checked it on a calendar and I came up with August 4th. Now I hope you can understand that because I have a tendency to make things so complicated I myself get confused. Here is a simplified version.

179,681
-172,970
—————
6711 divided by 4 = 1677.75 round up 1678. That is the average number of verses memorized a day.

179,681 + 1,678 --------------
181,359 and so on until I get to 201,495. I had to add that 12 times so I got to August fourth. Wow. That really wore me out. Again I hope you are able to understand that. And I hope I did that right. ;)

Well, we have 20,000 verses left and eight days till your deadline. That means we need to memorize at least 2500 verses a day. I put my bet at September 10, even though I know it wont land directly on that date :)

@ Ian R.- Any more predictions? Maybe you would do better next time.
@ All- We seem to be slowing down in our overall memorization sessions.

Isaac

You did your math right but we slowed down alot.
Edit: I THINK you did your math right. (:Smiles:)

Matthew Minica

You did your math right, but you took a fairly small sample. It might have been better to calculate how many verses were memorized in the past month and divide that by 30.

Hey, can everyone keep an eye out for who memorizes each 1,000th verse starting at 190,000? I will edit this post if someone sees and tells me. We're getting very close!

Though, Matthew, a lot of the Memverse Forum Users will be gone tomorrow with Locals…maybe someone will catch it though!

61754db001e2e2ef52b2b9212cdda1ec?s=128&d=mm

Matthew Minica

True, but using the same reasoning, many Memverse users will be gone tomorrow for Locals, so not many verses will get memorized in the morning… I'm expecting it to be in the afternoon, looking at how many we have now.

61754db001e2e2ef52b2b9212cdda1ec?s=128&d=mm

Matthew Minica

Well, I didn't catch it exactly but it looks like Lois Rochelle memorized the 190,000th verse early this morning. Congratulations!

His Servant II (Bethany)

Uhh…I think we're to busy to do this job…we may need to enlist some helpers :) We missed 192,000 and 193,000! Unless, you have them and just haven't commented about it yet….

61754db001e2e2ef52b2b9212cdda1ec?s=128&d=mm

Matthew Minica

No, unfortunately, I missed both of them. :( I hope there will be more excitement about the actual 200,000 mark so that more people will be looking for it.

Matthew Minica

Looks like we'll be able to catch 195 though. :D

@Ian: There is a link on the home page (when you're logged in) - click on the words "Recently On Memverse", and it will take you to a place where the last 100 verses memorized on Memverse are listed and the people who memorized them.

Congratulations, Matthew !

I'm confused, please help.
On the home page, I do NOT see a button called "recently added to MemVerse." Where is it???

P.S. Wonderful news about the coming addition to your family. Please send Psalm 127 and 128 to your parents for me.

@EdB–The "Recently On Memverse" button doesn't look like a button–it is simply those words above two lists of recent information on what has recently been accomplished by Memverse users, churches, states, countries, etc. When you click on those large black words, you will see each of the past 100 verses that have been memorized on Memverse, and who memorized them. :)

I went to the home page, and couldn't find it. Am I missing something?

Edit: Oh, now I see it. Thank you Matthew.

EdB

Thank you for your response.
BUT ….. I STILL do NOT see it !!!

I have a 17-inch MacBook Pro.
When I am on the Home screen, the words across the top are
"Home, Memorize, Learn, Account, Contact, Leaderboards, Blog,Help"
with NO "Recently On MemVerse".

Below that row are the the words
"My Verses, Add Verse,Search Bible,My Progress,Popular Verses,Tag Cloud,News"
and, once again, NO "Recently On MemVerse".

I have tried looking under each of the menu items, all to no avail.
I simply do not see any large black words above "two lists of recent information on what has recently been accomplished by Memverse users, churches, states, countries, etc."

WHAT GIVES??? !!

Sydney (aka The Gopher)

It's not under the menu items. On the Home screen, there is a large white box with the highlights of Memverse in the middle of the screen. On the top left of that, is "Recently on Memverse" in large black letters. Click on "Recently on Memverse," and there is everyone's recently memorized verses.

@EdB: Directly under the Verse of the Minute, there are four tabs that you can click on to see different things. The default one is "Dashboard". If the Dashboard is up, you should see directly under the word Dashboard the words "Recently on Memverse", which is linked to http://www.memverse.com/tweets. This is where you can see the recent verses memorized.

EdB

Thank you, Matthew. I DID find it.

B U T ….
when I look at the list, there are NO numbers, so I don't see how you know who did the xxxth verse.

(I have to tell you, it is getting really frustrating having a different visual experience with memVerse than most everyone else!)

Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong now?????

Your help is greatly appreciated.

BTW – did you extend my specific greetings and thoughts to your parents for me???

61754db001e2e2ef52b2b9212cdda1ec?s=128&d=mm

Matthew Minica

I use the "Recently on Memverse" page in coordination with the memorized verses counter on the home page to figure out who memorized which #. When I'm looking for the xxxth verse or whatever, I open both pages in my browser and keep an eye on them. I don't have to refresh, because both pages are cached to update about every 20 or 30 seconds.

I hadn't yet, but I will right now.

951c6d0a3cf93a453065684e2b8059d0?s=128&d=mm

EdB

THAT sounds complicated !!!

There should be an easier way.

Thanks for the response.

P.S. "I hadn't yet, but I will right now."
It's not clear to me, – was that an answer my question about my specific greeting to your parents?

951c6d0a3cf93a453065684e2b8059d0?s=128&d=mm

EdB

Thanks.

Hope it was received as warmly as it was meant.

BTW, I lived in San Antonio for three and a half years, when I was a boy. I have fond memories of living there.
How long have you and your family been there?

Congratulations Nicolas!

Too bad my September 19 prediction wasn't quite right. Oh well, at least we'll get there by the end of the month!
