Don't know why no one has made this topic before… maybe because I am the only one here who even knows what I'm talking about. Well, here it is anyhoo! 73!

If I tell you, will you promise me you'll get your license so we can talk? jk! I'll tell you tomorrow (Lord willing)!

Hand-held Icom CB/ham radio (but I only ever use the ham radio part). We have an antenna set up and ready for a stationary radio but haven’t gotten one yet. Do you have a radio license? I only have my Tech license… as of yet.

Amateur radio is also called Ham Radio. It’s a way of communication… after that…words leave me. Okay, I give up! Maybe later I will think up a better definition. :P

Watch these and ask me all the questions you may have. This was a video my friends made of our club’s Field Day. Field Day is when Amateur operators have a kind of challenge to see how many contacts they can make in one day. :)

Ham Radio for me is just one of my many hobbies. I got into it because my Dad and brother had their licenses, and at the time Dad was thinking about maybe moving out of the country… I’m really glad I got my license, but sadly I hardly ever get on the radio anymore because I’m busy with other things (like school), and there aren’t many people I can talk to on a hand held with a rubber duck antenna… unless I want to go out side in the freezing cold/burning hot van and use the antenna out there. We use to use our radios whenever we went out anywhere… but now we just use them on really long trips (if we remember to put up the antennas and grab our radios, last minute). :) Anyway, it is something I want to get into more (again) later after I graduate.

Yea, I do have the tech, Dad has a handheld icom too. I have only talked on the (amateur) radio like once in the years I've had the license though.

My siblings do a lot more talking then I ever do/did. I could probably count on my fingers the times I’ve really “talked” with people… most of my experience comes from Field day! :)

I am shocked. And delighted. Turning cartwheels.

I know amateur radio. I have my Extra, and have been into it for years.

It is so great to meet someone else who knows it! What is your callsign? Mine is KE5WLE (Kilo Echo Five Wise Little Extra). I am very active during Field Day…I hope to hear you on the radio someday!! :)

That' is really neat! I didn't think anyone would ever use this thread again… It's so good to "met" you!
My callsign is KD8NUK (Kilo Delta Eight Not Universally Known )… I like yours! We love Field Day as well! Our club callsign is W8CBF (Whiskey Eight Christian Bible Fellowship).

My brother will share his callsign soon! :)

KD8KSM. General.
We have a 2 meter antenna on our roof that we could hook the hand helds up to, but we live in a "dead zone" and 5 watts just doesn't cut it.
Also we have the wires and cables to make a HF antenna but I kinda got bored and haven't got'en back to it.
