I have been thinking further about the Badge discussion which began in 2012 and received a huge amount of discussion and after going over the comments I am convinced that the people who are using MemVerse would respond enthusiastically to having a separate Bible Verse Achievements page. This page would be an encouragement for all Memverse users from the experienced user to the newbie. Matthew Minica has suggested that the books people have memorised should be recorded on the home dash board. Lady Ariana I thought explained the situation very nicely when asking about the Sermon on the Mount Badge when she wrote “That’s crazy”. And for someone just starting it is crazy, daunting and scary. Now I am not sure how many of the good Christians here would play such games as World of Tanks but they have an amazing array of badges and medals etc. which keep players hooked in and excited. I believe the Bible is an exciting book and that as Christians we should make it such for newbies and veterans. Have a look at http://wiki.worldoftanks.com/Achievements

I would just like to summarise some of the good ideas that people have suggested and make a great deal of sense to me:

Badges for Verses (or ribbons)
Longest Verse Esther 8:9– Saved by Grace
Armour of God for Ephesians 6:10-18. -Isaac
Ten Commandments – Dakota, Abigail
One verse from every single book of the Bible ¬- Super401 and Dusti Rose
Romans Road - Super401
Top 100 Verses - Super401
1,000th verse – Emily

John building on this suggested a progressive badge reward system would be encouraging as well: 50, 100, 500, 1000 etc.
He made very good points around goal setting, incentives and encouragement for those just starting. Jackie agreed with this in principle and so did Amy who from a beginner’s viewpoint also suggested a new members badge. Wretched Man suggested that these should be ribbons and to leave badges for the more difficult accomplishments. Abi suggested that if only one badge were being added you could go with a memorizer badge. Bronze for 100 verse, silver for 500, and gold for 1,000
Badges (or medals) for Chapters
Historian Badge for so many chapters from Genesis through Deuteronomy.- Super401
Longest Chapter Psalm 119 – Saved by Grace
Psalmist for so many chapters of Psalms. - Super401
Christmas Story in Luke - Faith
Hall of Faith Hebrews 11 - Super401
Love Chapters badge for memorising 1 Corinthians 13, and maybe Galatians 5:15-26 -Daniella S, Emily H.
Blessed's" badge when you memorise Psalm's 1, Matthew 5:3-12, and Proverbs 31:10-31-Daniella S

Izaac (supported by Dubstep) suggested that the Sermon on the Mount Badge could be made easier by breaking it down as follows:
Bronze= Memorize all of Matthew 5
Silver= Bronze plus memorize all of Matthew 6
Gold= Silver plus Memorize all of Matthew 7

Badges for Books (or Trophies or Coats of arms)
Longest Book Psalms. – Saved by Grace
Badges for each book - Faith, Saved by Grace
The Pentateuch - Thomas Youngman
The Gospels - Thomas Youngman
So many Complete books of the Bible - Sarah B.
Each section of the Bible: History, Wisdom, Prophecy, Gospels, and Epistles- Saved by Grace
Memorizing the Old Testament and the New Testament- Hope Harrison, Thomas Youngman, Bethany Meckle, Saved by Grace
Entire Bible - Saved by Grace

Group Memorisation Projects – Dakota, Rachel and Super401
Elijah badge, New Testament One Year Challenge, Romans, 1 Kings Project or 1 Peter
Bible Bee

Wretched Man wrote in quite some detail and his suggestions would certainly be for veterans i.e. 1) The Entire Book Badge , 2) The Genealogies Badge , 3) The Inheritance Badge , 4) The Atonement Badge ,5) The Levitical Badge. Deborah Unruh liked these thoughts but also having smaller goals.

Personally I identified with lady Ariana’s tears and would like to see many shorter attainable goals that make our Christian faith relevant to our fellow believers and to the world. So how about smaller learning bytes such as:

The shortest verse
The shortest bible chapter
The middle chapter of the bible
The middle verse in the bible
The first verse in the Bible
The first verse in the NT
The last Verse in the NT
The Lord’s Prayer
The Shepherd’s Psalm
Davids Psalm of repentance
Prophecies concerning Christ
Promises on specific subjects e.g dealing with fear, sin, shame, victory etc.
The Fruits of the spirit
The 5 minute gospel
The beatitudes
The 10 Commandments
Some of the benedictions, prayers and blessings and proverbs

How about including five to ten favourite texts of famous Christians. So we might include for someone like Martin Luther “The just shall live by faith” and Romans 1:17. The award given might be called the “Luther Ribbon or medal”. George Whitfield, Billy Sunday, Billy Graham, George Mueller and a host of others could be included and it would be a lot of fun. People like Lady Ariana and I could then experience some success before tackling those harder and longer passages. Lets “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

I love, love, love that you put all this together like this! :D I'd so been hoping that the ribbons/badges/trophies/etc. idea hadn't been completely forgotten, because as you said, awards such as these keep anyone hooked and excited. I can't wait to see if this will actually become reality someday… :D
