Detached and factual ISTJs often find it difficult to deal with emotions as they see these as irrational and illogical, and when others display emotions they have to translate the emotion into factual language that they can understand. (Also very likely to ignore emotions in others because it makes them uncomfortable and uncertain what to do). Deep and private ISTJs will tend to keep their own feelings to themselves and until they have the measure of people will be unlikely to proactively share their feelings. Too much interaction sucks their energies. ISTJs like people to stick to agreements and commitments and may not understand that this is human nature, not human deficiency as they themselves take such commitments incredibly seriously. (Anyone else get really annoyed when people don't show up on time?)

ISTJs prefer to keep themselves to themselves and so in conflict situations they will struggle with overt conflict, ie with someone who wants to engage verbally. They are fine with more formal conflict. ISTJs have a strong sense of right and wrong (example A: punctuation) and this tends to be around what has been agreed or a set of already established rules. They believe if you have said you’ll do something then it is akin to a contract and you should fulfil your obligations. Formal processes such as writing letters of complaint or going through the proper channels plays to ISTJ strengths. They are measured and formal and so will be very factual and non-emotional. It is all about right and wrong (so if we disagree on something, I do not take it personally and expect you to do the same). ISTJs do not like conflict if it involves emotion as they prefer to see things far more factually and in a binary way. For them it will be about did it play out fairly and as agreed.

I get a kick out of reading about personalities, partly because it is interesting, partly because it is funny. When I read all the great stuff about my personality (or other people's, actually) I think "Well, that was a lot nicer than I would have put it".

Margaret Eddy, It just struck me that I don't know what I'd do with out you here on MV! You make me laugh a lot… and someday…. perhaps…. I'll be a better speller, thanks to you… :)

Why, thank you. This is the moment when I should come up with some equally encouraging response, but, you know my weaknesses:

Can become too rigid
Not generous with praise
Desires to always be right
Not in tune with feelings

So all I could come up with was: keep working on your spelling. There has been visible improvement since you started posting on the memverse forums.

My question is: how on earth can they tell what personality Mark the Apostle had?
With Thomas at least you get a few "personality glimpses" (like when he says that the disciples should go to Jerusalem with Jesus so that they could die with him) but where is there much information about Mark?
Sure, he has a gospel, but wasn't it Peter or someone who dictated it?

Um… No I'm pretty sure Mark's the one who wrote it, and you can tell a lot by what someone writes. :)

It's not that Peter dictated it; many people would say Mark got some of his information from Peter. I think that is what you're thinking of.

I think most of us were the first of our group… Mevmverse has a wide variety of personality types. Stick around and chat with us for a bit and you'll figure that out for yourself. That was the inspiration for the "Memverse User List" in the first place. :)

Mommy's Helper, I didn't know where else to get ahold of you on here - the poem is great! Don't worry - it meets the rules. :)

Just took the test, and was rated as an ENTP. Guess I'm not quite as much as an introvert as I thought I was. I know I used to be one, but maybe that has changed somewhat. EDIT: Interestingly, the percentages for each trait were very low, except for the P for Processing. Even that was only 20-something percent.

EDIT 2: BTW, I think the last trait on page 1 is supposed to be ENFP? Because there are two ESFP lists (one empty).

I need to know more about John 3:16… but yes, that is why I resurrected this thread, so I could add new memversers. :)

To whoever updates the Memverse Users List: You can look at my introduction if you don't know what to say about me ;)

Also, just so everyone knows, i enjoy chatting on here, but I am trying not to spend too much time here, so I may seem to be floating in and out among the forums ;D

Just realized something - John 3:16 better not be Rachel playing a trick on us. No offense, @John 3:16 and @Rachel, if that's not the case, but this isn't something that has never happened before. O_o
