Tell me about your church, as it relates to the diversity of both attendees and leadership.
Why? I'm really struggling with this right now and need your help - need to hear hope from the rest of the Church. I grew up in an extremely multicultural environment, but now life has changed and I live in a small town divided by racial tension… Neither side seems to be able to look past cultural differences and historical trauma to see that we're both just humans, all in need of a Savior! And it's driving me NUTS because it feels like this tension has made it even into the churches and I'm longing to hear someone tell about a place where it's not like this! I wish we could see the harmony and unity of the Body of Christ here, looking beyond our ethnic differences and historical tragedies. A church where we all follow Christ as He calls us, rather than bickering about external things…
So tell me about your church. Is the rest of the world this annoying whites-in-charge-you-become-European-if-ya-wana-join-us philosophy? I know it's not because I've seen churches working together with often two or three people groups, once I even visited a church with EIGHT different language groups worshiping our same Lord, all together in unity, it was so beautiful… But that's 13 hours away from me. Someone remind me what it's like! Please!
Thanks:-)

I cant really encourage you, sharing from my church, its pretty small but all white even thou the town is 1/2. Some of its because not every one feels welcome or comfortable with some of the churches. I have/will pray that u be encouraged and your church and town find unity and compassion. :)

My Savior Lives!

Our church is very white. There are some asians too though. However, no African Americans or Hispanics, which is a huge shame because the church is in a neighborhood with a lot of African Americans. I would say that there are some prejudices in our church against African Americans (not everyone, just a few people).

May I ask if there are any minorities in your church?

I wish that the church could be less racially divided too (considering that we are all one race!) However, I have visited churches too that were all black and just as divided, it isn't just Europeans/white Americans.

There's 4 ethnicities at the fellowship where I currently attend. There's no prejudice or anything - we all worship God in unity. It's a huge blessing!!

Pr@ying for your fellowship.
