Talk! But probably just me and Sarah.

Anyway, has anyone heard about reign, danced there, or seen one of the shows?

Ok. reign Dance Theter is a really cool, strong christian dance studio. Sarah danced there, and I am going to this/next year.

Wish I could come see it. Seriously, that trailer made me genuinely interested. Looks like a really high-quality production (especially for a 'Christian' theatre)!

It really is an amazing performance! There is 9 months of preparation, and 4 of them are very intense. They even make their own costumes so they are modest!

So you are actively involved in this dance theater (On the High Seas)!? How long do/did you have to do it to be that experienced?

Not a ton, I don't do pointe or anything, but I do go there up to three times a week. The neat thing about RDT is that it is open to anyone 7- adult, no matter their experince.

That sounds awesome! Can you please tell me when the tickets are available? I might try to see what I can get together (maybe nothing…. but worth a shot). ;)

Alrighty, I will! They should be out if a few weeks, but I don't know exactly when.

Thanks so much! XD This will be awesome if it works out.

Sorry for all the bad spelling! Anyway, check out the trailer for Reign Dance Theater's next production, On the High Seas! http://www.reigndancetheater.org/productions.htm

Wow, that looks almost identical to the performances of a Christian dance company we have here in Ohio called "Praise His Name with Dancing." I don't know what kind of songs you guys dance to, but the type of dancing, the props, the sets, etc., all looked very similar to what our company here does. I used to be involved in it. Did it for around four years. =)

What kind of dance do they do? RDT is mainly ballet, but there are a few waltzes, and I could maybe see a one or two passing as modern.

The girls do almost exclusively ballet or variations of it. But the guys tend to do more modern dance – especially if they're assigned a rap song. Most of the music is Contemporary Christian, and then some lean more towards rock or hip-hop.

Some of the songs in this years show are:

Sometimes he calms the storm ( Scott someone)
Amazing grace ( Chris Tomlin)
Dive ( Steven Curtis chapman)
The second song in the trailer

The reason I said some would pass as modern is because it is not just dance, it is theater. For example, there is a storm, so the sailors are doing handstands, and rolling on the floor. Another instance is the dance irked battle, which is mostly swordplay.

Had no idea that Christian has any interest at all in dance

Most people don't. =P

I was really in it because I wanted to move up to the level where I could do the Christian hip-hop/rap songs. But the requirement was four years of experience, and I quit after the four year. =P Classes were expensive and also a big commitment, and my life was getting busier, so I just couldn't do it anymore. Most of the years, I was in a group that danced to a Jeremy Camp song. I think I did that three times. And then the one other year was a Steve Camp song, which was probably my favorite. Mostly just CCM stuff. But the performances as a whole were always excellent. Largely gospel-centered, but very artistically pulled-off. My favorite one was the one they did last year based on Beauty and the Beast. Only they made it a story about the impact of the gospel on the heart of a sinner (the beast), and it was absolutely beautiful. Wish I could have been a part of that one.
