Today is the worst day of my life., Amarisa thought as she stared sullenly out the window of the carriage. Today was the day of the Celebration Ball, a dance in honor of the end of the War for Freedom all those years ago. As her father was descended from one of the great barons of that era, he was obligated to be at every one of the historical functions, along with his family. Why couldn't I stay at home with the servants? Amarisa silently moaned I *hate* dancing! She glanced at Clarissa sitting in the seat next to her. She looked positively radiant. Of course she'd be happy. Amarisa grumbled, She's the one who loves these occasions. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to sit where no one can call on me. And so, she sat, awaiting her inevitable fate…

Amarisa rests her chin in her hands
The carriage driver turns around and looks at her What's wrong? I thought you loved history!
Amarisa sighs I do. But I wish I could read a book instead of going to the ball. Why does being a nobleman's daughter mean I have to attend every social event in Alavaria?

We are? shrinks back against the seat Maybe if I stay hidden in the carriage, no one will notice that I'm not there.

the carriage stops in front of the Great Hall, a large building with a sloping roof, and pillars supporting it throughout the structure

OOC: Probably similar to what I would actually do. Except in real life, I don't hate dancing. :-P

OOC: I like dancing…depending on the type… But I don't really like social events…if I go to one I always pace the room.

OOC: Oh, I thought we were still on the first page. Oops.
IC: reluctantly steps out of the carriage I hope no one calls on me.

you are led into an enormous room. On one side are many tables, covered with red velvet tablecloths and balnketed with the most delicious foods. Many people sit at these tables, and are conversing and eating. The other half holds the ballroom, where only a few couples are dancing to the music provided by a quartet in the center of the floor

Amarisa follows her father into the room, feeling absolutely miserable That corner over there looks pretty crowded. If I sit over there, maybe I won't be noticed.

Sarah

Amarisa sits down in the corner Hopefully this idea will be better than the last one.
Amarisa looks around at the people around her That man looks familiar. Wait… the attempted robbery of the castle last year… takes off running toward her family on the other side of the hall Father? FATHER!!!

Amarisa tries to catch her breath That man- over in the corner- he was the one- who tried to rob the castle- last year. I think he may- have recognized me. He- shouldn't be out- of prison yet.

your father turns to look
"That ma-oh, Amarisa!"
he shakes his head smiling
"That is Duke Exeter, the cousin of the man who attempted to rob the castle! It has been a thorn in his side since the attempt, and he has been the most involved in the capture of the thief."
he turns back to you
"Now, be a good girl and sit back with your sister. Where is Clarissa?"
