Should Christians vote?

I think they should. God has blessed us with the opportunity to choose our leaders. If Christian's don't vote (or get involved in politics…I'm not talking about them…just sayin' ;) then our country will only have non-Christians voting for non-Christians and our country will be in a mess.

Let's just remember Romans 13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

Come on …. I said no politics. It is not nice to call people bad names.

I mean the principle of voting. Do you think Christians should vote at all? Do you think that voting is in line with Christians being in the world but not of the world?

Oh…sorry. I was just having this discussion with my youth pastor yesterday. If we don't vote, the world will get all the rules that they want that may or may not contradict what the Bible commands us to do. So maybe Christians can and should vote to make sure there is still some morality in the world.

Okay, I'm not thrilled with the candidates in this year's elections either, but those names are going a bit too far. Maybe you should clarify by saying that they somewhat support those things, not that they are those things… (except Mitt Romney being a Mormon). I promise I won't say anything more about politics here; I just wanted to say that to SoulWinner.

Ok so maybe I was a little harsh(ok I was REALLY harsh). I apologize and promise to keep my remarks to myself and no longer talk about anything that pertains to polotics. Sorry again, guys.

I agree. As Americans, we are part of our government. Since God has already given us this responsibility, shouldn't we use it wisely? In some countries, we would have no choice in our government; Paul spoke to people like this and told them to submit to their authorities (except, of course, when it came down to "We ought to obey God rather than men"–but in everything else to submit). As Americans, though (assuming that most of the people here are from the U.S.), we do not have a choice about whether we are part of the government–we already are! The only question is how to glorify God in this, just the same as in any part of life. And surely the best method cannot be just ignoring what is happening, not when the government is actually asking us who should be in charge for the next several years! "I don't know" or "I will not answer" does not seem too helpful to the nation.

Yeah, and just because both candidates don't hold up to our biblical standard…doesn't mean we shouldn't vote at all. We may not be voting for one certain person because we think they will help restore our nation to a more Christian nation, but to keep people out of office who really oppose our biblical views.
One may not be a Christian, but they hold the same values as we do. (Regarding marriage, life, etc.)
We also have to take into account how qualified a person is to run the nation. It's just all part of being good stewards of this wonderful country God has put us in!

God bless the USA!! :)

OK. This going to be hard but I will do my very best to stay away from the politics. I will mention politics because voting and politics are so inherently tied together. deep breath

I am a Christian, and even though I cannot vote I am (heavily) involved in politics because of my Christian faith. I firmly believe that it is the duty of all Christians to be active in the political arena - as candidates, volunteers, voters, and most importantly, prayer warriors.

We cannot continue to bemoan the erosion of our rights - including religious freedom - if we do not do anything about it. Our country was founded upon Judeo-Christian principles and it is sad to see those principles so quickly washed away. How sad it would be if we as Christians continued to stand by and watch without doing anything to turn our nation around!

Yes, Christians should vote.

I'd also like to point out that we need to spend a lot of time evangelizing our country, so that we can change this nation not only externally, but also internally (which is really far more important). :)
