Here's where we all can get together and do on the forums what we did on "God-honoring, Scripture Memory & Fellowship Chat"!

God's Maiden of Virtue

I don't have a favorite Bible verse (I like them all!), but I do have a favorite Bible verse from what I memorized at the Bible Bee last year.
It is 1 Timothy 4:12. I memorized it in NIV for the Bible Bee, but I rememorized it in NKJV. "Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers; in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. " (NKJV)
That is also the theme verse for my Bright Lights group.

His Servant

My favorite passage that I learned for the Bible Bee was Philippians 3:8-12, as Philippians 3 is one of my favorite chapters.

Interestingly though, Phillippians 3:8-12 was the only passage I didn't know very well for locals. It seemed very difficult for me to memorize, even though I like it a lot.

After that, I like 1 Samuel 12:24. Great verse :)

My favorite verse during the 2011 Bible Bee…I don't know what my favorite was but I really like Psalm 34:4-19.

What was everyones easiest passage to memorize? Hardest passage to memorize? What is the biggest amount of verses that everyone has memorized in one day and retained?

2 Corinthians 5:17

Carissa - are you talking about BB or anytime?
The most verses I memorized in one day was 14, but I'm still working on them…..the first few days I could say them with first-letter prompts…but if that counts…. :)

2 Corinthians 5:17

One of my favorite scripture passages is:

Romans 8:35, 37-39.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? … Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It's awesome to think that NOTHING can separate us from his love… Praise the LORD!!!!

Romans 8:38-39 is my favorite verse, although it's hard to decide. :)

The easiest verse I memorized for Bible Bee (that I didn't already have memorized) was probably Exodus 14:14.

The hardest was 2 Corinthians 6:4-10. Also Nahum 1:2-8 was hard. Neither of those I have down super well.

The most I've ever memorized in one day, I'm not sure, I've never really tried to see how many I could do or anything, but I think the most was around 14 or something.

God's Maiden of Virtue

Sorry! I only just saw your comment.
I want to use NKJV. I'm not sure if that is what I'll be doing.

One of my favorite passages in the Bible is Nehemiah 9:6-8 (it is pretty well known, I think)
"You alone are the Lord; You have made heaven, The heaven of heavens, with all their host, The earth and all things on it, The seas and all that is in them, And You preserve them all. The host of heaven worships You. You are the Lord God, Who chose Abram, And brought him up out of Ur of the Chaldees, And gave him the name Abraham; You found his heart faithful before You, And made a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, And the Girgashites- To give to his descendants. You have performed Your words, For You are righteous." (NKJV)
I memorized this in NIV, but I'm hoping to rememorize it in NKJV.

God's Maiden of Virtue

@Zachary Baas- Well, I'm not sure if I will. Our whole family will be using the same version for the Bible Bee, so we might use something else.

@Rachel- One of my all time favorites is Psalm 4:8.
"I will both lie down in peace and sleep, For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety."
I am SO encouraged by this verse; it fills my heart with joy to know that I can sleep peacefully, knowing that the Lord shall keep me safe.

Hey Wretched Man, if the sky is falling, we should all run to the foxes den, right? (off your comment on the politics page, but not related to politics)
One of my favorite verses is 1 Cor. 10:13 - "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
EDIT: I guess Wretched Man hasn't seen this post yet.

My favorite verse is:

And Jesus said to him, " 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your mind, and all your soul.' This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it in: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself"

-Matthew 22:38-39 (NKJV)

It is also referenced from Deuteronomy:

You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, all of your mind, and all of your strength.

-Deuteronomy 6:5 (NKJV)

Never mind! My dad said that I could use NKJV! But that's not the version my family is using; which will be a little difficult. Because, last year, we would recite our most recent verses out loud in our morning family Bible time. So with me using a different translation, we might mess each other up.

Can you switch your Bible version after you've already signed up (not that I'm thinking of switching from NKJV, but just wondering)?

@Rachel: Yes it was a Bible Bee passage. The Juniors and Seniors had to memorize that passage for Nationals. I had a lot of fun memorizing it.

@All: What was everyones easiest passage to memorize (not verses…passages)?

@Emily Hamilton: Congratulations on memorizing your 1000th verse!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good job!!!!!!!! How long have you been on Memverse?

God's Maiden of Virtue

Well, this isn't very long, but the easiest passage for me was Isaiah 40:28-29.
"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak." I memorized it in NIV for the Bible Bee.

Carissa, I joined Memverse June 4th, 2010, I think. But I was inactive for a long time. Somewhere between the time Bible Bee released the scores and Nationals, I got back on, and have been loving it ever sense. :) Aw! Thank you! Now lets see if I can keep up on them all. =D
Thanks for saying "hi" today. :) That was fun. :D

The easiest passage for me was Psalm 96:4-5. It was easy because I made a little song of it.

What is your favorite dog type everyone? Mine are hounds and ketch dogs. I also like pugs. Ketch dogs are the dogs that would hold the animals after the hounds bayed them down.

I don't know what my favorite kind of dog would be, but there's a reason for that–my mom's favorite kind of dog is a nonexistent one. Hence, we do not have dogs at our home, hence, I am very unknowledgeable about dogs. :P

My absolute favorite dogs are pomeranians. We have a 8 or 9 year old pomeranian named Liberty that we got from a dog rescue. He's really fun. I like pretty much any dogs, though.

We have several boxers. We used to have a pug, but sadly she died. She was so cute and sweet! Boxers can be beautiful and very sweet as well. One of my brothers raises and sells boxers. Oh, and my younger bro. (Matthew) has a beagle.

I REALLY like Douglas Bond, and I like Gloria Repp, Wendy Lawton, Chuck Black, Patricia St. John, and various other authors.
Oh, I also like A.A. Milne, too. :)

EDIT: Series I've read from some of those authors:
Douglas Bond: Mr. Pipes (hope to soon read the Crown and Covenant Series)
Gloria Repp: The Adventures of an Arctic Missionary (and other single books)
Wendy Lawton: Daughters of the Faith
Chuck Black: the Kingdom Series

I have read Gloria Repp as well and enjoyed the Arctic Missionary if I'm thinking of the right book. Some of my favorite secular writers are: Jim Kjelgaard: Big Red, Irish Red, Outlaw Red. Rosemary Sutcliff: The Eagle of the Ninth. Non-secular: R.M. Ballentine. I love Douglas Bonds series because there adventurous, and I am of Scottish descent. I really like his Hostage lands,

God's Maiden of Virtue

I really like Gloria Repp too. I have read three of her books and many stories that have been put in my Reading book for school: The Secret of the Golden Cowrie, Trouble at Silver Pines Inn and Mik-Shrok. They are great mystery books.
These are some other books she has written (I have read a few of these):
The Stolen Years
Night Flight
A Question of Yams
Nothing Daunted (The Story of Isobel Kuhn)
The Quisling Hunt
The Room
And many others!

I also really like Elizabeth George. She and her husband have written many good books. I am in the middle of reading one of her books. It's called A Young Woman After God's Own Heart. Great book; I highly recommend it to all girls in their teens.

I like many other authors, but I will only mention one more. Her name is Dawn L. Watkins. I have read three of her books, and many of her stories that have been put in my Reading book for school: Chickadee Winter, Jenny Wren and Medallion.
She has also written (I have read a few of these as well):
The Cranky Blue Crab
A King for Brass Cobweb
Yeoman Knight
A Ride to Honor
And many others!

So these are just a few of my favorite authors.

For me it is a tie between C.S. Lewis (The Chronicles of Narnia), and Byrian Davis (Dragons in our midst series, and The Oracles of Fire series).

I love J.R.R. Tolkien's books! Of course, I've only read one and a half of his books ("The Hobbit" and half of "The Fellowship of the Ring"), but from what I've read, he is an amazing author! Who else likes the "Lord of the Rings" series, or anything else that Tolkien has written? He is definitely my favorite author. :)

D31c974fe43f1230dbcb183971bfbdec?s=128&d=mm

I LOVE Left Behind too!!!! The adult series-minus the inappropriate parts-my mom read them to me. No, actually my mom read the whole series to me like three times and the first 5 or 6 books like once or twice by their selves (I like the first half better than the second half). I've also see the videos. Not as good as the books, but, hey, they're still great! :) One of my friends read the kids series, I haven't read it though.

Some books and authors I like (besides Left Behind):

R. M. Ballantyne. haven't read all of his books…know they are technically for boys, but I still like them. :) Some of the ones I liked are: "Deep Down", "The Dog Crusoe" and "Hunted and Harried".

G. A. Henty. More boy's books that I like… lol! Haven't read anywhere close to all his books. "In Freedom's Cause", "In the Reign of Terror", "Beric the Brittan".

Marguerite Henry. "Brighty of the Grand Canyon", "Misty of Chincoteague", "Sea Star: Orphan of Chincoteague", "Stormy, Misty's Foal", "Justin Morgan Had a Horse".

The books based on the Sherwood films. (Even though we've only read "Courageous", the other ones "look" good :) )

David and Karen Mains, who wrote the "Tales of the Kingdom" series. I have read all three books, but I like the first two better than the third.

Various Lamplighter authors such as: Charlotte M. Tucker (A.L.O.E), who wrote "Giant Killer", "The Battle", the "Heroes of the Faith" series and others. Kathleen M. Macleod, "Hand on the Bridal". Florence M. Kingsley (what's with all the "M's"??? :) ), "Titus: A Comrade of the Cross", "Stephen: A Soldier of the Cross" and "The Cross Triumphant".

And lots and lots of others I can't think of right now!!! :)

@Zachary, Have you read all the Left Behind books in the kid's series? There's like 40, right?
Which is your favorite Boxcar Kids book? How many have you read? I've only read the original 19.

There's around 40. I have read them all once, and am around halfway on my second time. I haven't read the Boxcar books for probably a year, and I can't remember which was my favorite.

Has anyone seen the move, "The Eagle"?
