I'm back now!
Sarah
Your family can finish dinner in ten minutes? That's impressive!

Well, we just ate quickly. My mom also is not here.
ZachB
Sounds like what my supper was!
Sarah

Ah, I see. Dinner always goes faster when my mom isn't here. :-)
akwlanm
It's always like that for you!
Sarah
It's always like that for you!
Lucky… At our house, dinner includes thoroughly cleaning the entire kitchen, so when I leave for dinner, I'm usually gone for at least an hour and a half. :-)
ZachB

Sometimes, but not always.

We usually clean the kitchen later.

So, I have a question. My English teacher says that you don't say, "We meet in an hour."

You might want to ask her about that. Personally, I can't think of any grammar rules that "We meet in an hour" breaks.
mysteryperson
Does anybody mind if I start a new topic on why we shouldn't argue? ^that was an argument, NOT a debate….^

She must not be a native English speaker?

Well, she isn't a native speaker and she says you use present continuous for future plans.
Sarah
Not at all! It would be nice to have all the excellent points you made for easy reference.

Nope.

Thank you. :) I will work on it.

Obviously. There's nothing wrong with "We meet in an hour".

I didn't think so. At least it wasn't on a test.

I can see how the present continuous would flow more smoothly; however, it's not a violation of grammar to use the present tense. I've found that a lot of English teachers tend to teach their opinions of what sounds better as actual rules.

I don't think it was her opinion. Once she even asked me if she had made mistakes before.

Hmm, interesting. You might want to talk to her about it.

Okay. We aren't going back to school until after BB though, so I might forget.

That's okay!

Is anyone around?
ZachB
I am but I'm also studying. Did you get your SG finished?
Sarah
Yup!
akwlanm
I am but I'm also studying. Did you get your SG finished?
No, I am going to finish it tomorrow though. Still on day four.
akwlanm
Oh, hi again.
Sarah
Hi!
akwlanm
It's 8 PM and it's pitch black!
Sarah
Oh, wow! It's 6 PM here, and we had to shut the blinds because all the sunlight was making it harder to see.
akwlanm
It is the equivalent of January here and they changed the time to always be on DST without changing. Which means that it is still dark at 8:45 AM.
ZachB

Ok cool!
Sarah
Ah, I see. I never really understood the concept of daylight savings. :-)
ZachB
It's not really necessary anymore because tractors have powerful headlights and can work in the dark.
Sarah
Oh, okay. :-)
akwlanm
They still don't like working in the dark. Although I think they should have switched back to standard time before making up their minds.
ZachB
True, but one hour doesn't make enough difference to make it worth all the schedules it throws off.
akwlanm
True, but one hour doesn't make enough difference to make it worth all the schedules it throws off.
I totally agree. But one hour would mean that we don't have to start school in the dark. ;-)
ZachB
Wouldn't that be a good thing?
akwlanm
Yes. I don't like waking up at 6:30 in the dark.
ZachB
Yawns that's when I wake up for work every morning. Except that it isn't dark.
akwlanm
There is a difference.
Sarah
There is a difference.
Why, oh why doesn't Memverse have a like button?
ZachB
Yep. But we're both tired when we wake up that early!
ZachB

Ikr? You should submit something on the feedback tab on the right.
akwlanm

That is a fact.
