Hey, to anybody on Memverse. I am looking for resources on the Indonesian language. Any help would be absolutely great ! I've been using Google translate and some other tools. Is anybody else out there trying to learn this language ? I think that I am starting to get the hang of it a little bit.

By the way, This might be a little more on topic I have two friends who are heading up a missions trip in the far east in countries including Indonesia. Would anyone be willing to pray for them ?

Be sure to let me know if you discover any online tools that really help you as my wife and I will want to check them out.

I just prayed for them!

@Mr. Walker or anybody who can answer this - what Indonesian Bible is used on Memverse? Or are there multiple Indonesian versions used?

I am fairly sure that there is only one Indonesian version of the Bible and it is used on Memverse.

That's exciting! how's it going? Putting you on my prayer list !

Sorry I didn't see this before our missions trip went very well. Each time I go to South East Asia I keep seeing more of their lifestyles and developing a heart for the people there. Thanks a bunch!

That's cool! (That you're learning Hindi)

Thanks! I'll definitely look into it when I'm done with BibleBee. :)

The version is called Terjemahan Baru which means "new translation." It was made around 1980. It is used by over 95% of Christians in Indonesia which is a nice feature meaning Scripture songs and other resources can be sung and enjoyed by almost all rather than just a small group that uses our translation.
The only other translation I am aware of is used by a specific church group. It uses Yaweh a lot and takes out Allah saying it is the specific name of the Muslim god rather than an acceptable translation for the word God. There may be other translations I am not aware of.
All Indonesian Scripture songs I am aware of can be found at our website www.lagualkitab.com I am collecting all I can find and posting them here. Our students at STT Setia wrote about half of these and are continuing to write a lot more. I am also hopeful of inspiring and encouraging other seminaries, churches, schools, and individuals to write Scripture songs to help Indonesians who love to sing and are not big into reading to know their Bibles.
Our ministry partner Lewi signed up on Memverse yesterday. We hope to get him regular internet access soon so he can be active on Memverse and help others at the seminary to also join, while also spreading the word to others throughout Indonesia. Please pray for Lewi and for us as I still expect Indonesia to, Lord willing, eventually be #2 (without my verses) on the country leaderboard, (Although if Indonesia takes off like I hope and another country takes off at a higher rate staying above Indonesia I will be doubly thrilled.) and, Lord willing, maybe even challenging the USA for the lead one day.

Sorry I did not respond to this earlier. How many times have you been to South East Asia and in particular, to Indonesia? Please let us know the next time you are heading to Indonesia. Your post was 4 years ago. Has God continued to call you to Southeast Asia?

And your post was two years ago. :D
