Courtney M.

I have been a member of Memverse for a long time, but it has been off and on. Most of you know my brother Matthew.
I am the second oldest of 8, and my mom is pregnant with our 9th. We have 5 girls and 3 boys from ages 1 to 14.
My ultimate goal is to marry a godly man and have many children, and raise them up in the teaching and admonition of the Lord.
Some of my hobbies are sewing, oil painting, gardening, letter writing, Bible Bee, piano and harp playing, adding things to my hope chest, and cooking/baking. (I love to learn new skills)
I turned 13 on September 1st. I belong to the Church of God (7th Day). We live south of San Antonio.

I have been a member of memverse for about 2 years. I am the 2nd oldest of 4 and all my other siblings are on Memverse. We have 3 girls and 1 boy who is the oldest. My hobbies are piano, singing, and ballet. I am 11 years old, but will be 12 next month!!! :)

I'm not sure you would call it a "hope chest" if it was for a guy; "treasure chest" might be more masculine and to your liking. And NO!!!!!! They are not only for girls. My brother Matthew has one made by my dad. I think he puts in thought-provoking letters, good books, and really anything special. Guys can be sentimental too. :-P I know my dad is sentimental at times.

Oh, and in the Hope Chest book I referred to in General Chat Topics»Hope Chests, by Rebekah Wilson, there is a whole chapter regarding what to do for a guy.

Hey Courtney! Hope chests sound really interesting! I will have to look into it. I do keep a bunch of "special" things, but they are kind of all over the place. :)

Ah! I never heard how the TX wedding reception went! I guess it went okay since we didn't here anything… ;)

Ohh! I can't believe I didn't see this till now. xP It went great! It was so nice to see the Smithes again. :) Of course, the things that sticks out in my mind is that when we went home the Millers drove in behind us… xD

Hmm…some things need changing. I am the second oldest of 10 now, praise God! We have 6 girls and 4 boys ranging from ages almost 3 mos. to 16.
I now do acrylic painting, not oil. A better choice, I think. :) And our garden is overgrown with weeds! Too bad…
And I am almost 15. Not just turned 13.

My list of random things:
1) My little brother Zachary used to call me from upstairs every morning and say "Ye-yes! Baba!"
2) I have never been to Pennsylvania.
3) I don't scream very often, but when my brother Philip put a scorpion (with stinger removed) on me, I did.
4) One of my favorite books is The Hidden Hand.
5) I doubt courting.
6) I have done Bible Bee for 6 years.
7) I was born at 11:15 AM.
8) I remember 8 of my siblings' births. Too bad I can't remember 9.
9) I once hit my head on a ceiling fan at 6:00 in the morning.
10) I have never stayed up all night. That I know of.

Hi, Courtney!
Hope you and your family are doing well. :-)
I just started painting this month, and it's oil paint. :-) I may have to get used to it; I've never painted on canvas before. I used to paint ceramics a lot with Mom, but we don't anymore. I'd like to try painting on rocks someday. :-) Why do you like painting with acrylics better? How long have you been painting?
By the way, could you please explain #5? ^ :-)

Hey Jessica!
Neat! I did one oil painting. I paint on canvas boards, not stretched canvas. Which do you use? Oh, I'd like to try painting ceramics! I have a painted rock sitting on my desk - I did it when I was trying to paint en aire, in the open air, but my canvas painting got ruined. My sister gave me the idea of painting a rock instead. :)
Hmm…because they aren't toxic, because they dry quicker, because they clean with water (you don't have to use turpentine or a toxic cleaner), they are cheaper, and etc. :)
I did my first painting in 2010, but I got my own paints early last year.
Oh. facedesk That's hard to explain. It all started when my dad started reading stuff on this site: www.truelovedoesntwait.com

Hey Courtney, I just looked at your list of random things…since you've never been to Pennsylvania, you should come up on a trip sometime soon! ;) :D

I know! I thought of that when I wrote it. :) I hope we can sometime…or you'll have to come down here! You're already hopefully going to be coming way down South…the least you can do is travel a few more days and come see us. :P :D

Hi Courtney! I hope y'all are doing well. I was in the great state of Texas this weekend and though of you. I even saw a billboard advertising midwifery! XD. It was neat to get a little taste of the state's culture, and I enjoyed it. Did you know that Texans (at least the older ones) shake hands differently than Alabamians?

Courtney M.

Hi Evie! That's great! xD Did you get any Mexican food? Mexico has had a big influence on a lot of Texan culture. I think I have been in Alabama a couple times, but I don't remember it very well, as I think we were just driving through. No, I did not know that! Interesting. :)

Yes, we went to an (east) Tex-Mex social thing one evening. Sadly, I had very little appetite so I wasn't able to enjoy it thoroughly, but what I could eat was delicious. My favorite part was probably the homemade guacamole. I also had some kind of mashed sweet squash as part of lunch that day. It had a weird name that I can't remember now… Have you ever heard of someone having a cilantro allergy?
We only went about 40-60 miles across the east border, so there were still lots of grass, water, and trees, in fact it looked a whole lot like Alabama, but it was Texas, so it was quite exciting. :)

Oh, that sounds fun! We don't actually eat that much Mexican food. I don't know if chili would count… No, I don't think so, that's kind of strange! Cilantro isn't my favorite, but it's pretty good. :) Do you like it?
Well, there are quite a few trees around here, but we have droughts fairly often, so everything isn't always green. :)
