Hello, Jill. Glad to meet you! It sounds like you have a lovely family.

I, too, have been on Memverse for awhile (about 8 months now)–finally decided to see what the forums are all about. :)

My name is Sheila. I love memorizing Scripture, too, and have found Memverse to be such a blessing! I memorized several Bible passages in the Christian school I first attended as a child, but did not put the emphasis I now know I should have on Bible memorization for many years after that.

When I was 18, I became the Sabbath School leader for the youngest children's division at our church in Carson City, Nevada. Each week, there was a short passage of Scripture that the little ones were encouraged to memorize. One week, I suddenly realized that if we were expecting 2-, 3-, and 4-year-olds to memorize the Bible, we teachers ought to be doing the same!

I started out with some difficulty, but found as so many of us do, that our minds really do strengthen with use–especially when that use is meditation on God's Word.

I truly enjoy children's ministry. I have four children of my own that I home school here in Oregon. (Well, two of them have graduated, but anyway….) I also write and illustrate Vacation Bible School materials and activities for Christian children, some of which I sell and others that I give away, mostly online.

I lead out the weekly #myBiblechat on Twitter, too. My hobby of sorts would be playing acoustic guitar.

I guess that about sums it up!

Blessings to you, Jill and AstroLeah–and all of you "Memversers" out there. I really enjoy being part of this community.

~Sheila :)

I know this is an old thread, but I just want to say I enjoyed reading your bios, Jill and Sheila, and wish you all the best as you memorize God's Word and encourage others as well.
