Introducing...me :)

Hello!
I am Ashlyn T and I am new to the forums, but not to Memverse. I have been stalking the forums for quite awhile, but have just started posting about a week or so ago.

I am a Christian saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

I live with my family in the SouthEast.

I love music.

I have participated in Bible Bee for several years, but have no yet made it to nationals. This will probably be my last year. I have been so blessed and privileged to have done it!

I don't really know the demographic/age population of the Memverse community yet, but I would guess that I am in the older third.

My favorite books of the Bible are 1 John, 1 Corinthians, Romans, Philippians…. and many more!

My life verses are Proverbs 3:5-6 and 1 John 1:9.

And…. I think that is all that I can think of for now. But I am open to questions. :)

Welcome to the forums! I stalked the forums for about a year before joining, so you aren't alone. ;) If you want to really get into the group here the best idea is to get in the social chat and join in a conversation. Just a suggestion.

Welcome, Ashlyn! I'm from the Southeast, too! I'm also in Bible Bee, and this will be my first year as a Senior.

Some things you need to know when joining the forums:
1. Be yourself. You may feel pressure to be just a weird as everyone else, but don't unless it is completely natural for you.
2. Carissa will tell you that Sam and Noah tease. That's just part of it. Tradition.
3. Some people will say crazy things that make no sense. The best way to handle this is to not give any reaction. For years, I have reacted to things that people said. I have decided that I am done with this. It's just too embarrassing. A reaction is what they want. Don't give in.
4. Consider yourself privileged that I am saying this to you. I may say funny things (without meaning to) in real life. I may say funny things on MV. But I never write something like this. The problem with this is that you will probably think that I am just as weird as I am. In fact, clicking "Post Reply" may be the greatest regret of my life.

^In case you now think that I am one of the weird MVers who must be avoided, I'm not. I am weird at random moments like this, but I don't normally say crazy things like this.^

That's very nice sensible advice, and I agree with every word. However, if she wants to blend in with the rest of us she won't listen to a word you just said. :D big grin of mischief

Welcome to the Memverse forums, Ashlyn! We have quite a unique culture on Memverse (as I'm sure you've seen :P) but we always love and welcome new members. =)

EDIT - Oh, and I'm Matthew motions to username, I love the Bible Bee and music too, and you'll most often see me around on Saturday afternoons. =P

And most of the people here tend to act crazy, but we also have our serious moments ^even if they come less often than the crazy moments… :D^ Hope you enjoy your stay!!! :D

I play both as well! :) I started with piano, then a couple of years ago switched to violin, which I love. Which instrument do you prefer?
Have you decided on a degree? As of last October, I have joined the ranks of the elderly beyond the title of Senior (channeling Margaret's view on the subject…) - yes, I'm an alumni. :P

Ok!!! I like hymns and some Christian rock, ^I tend to be very picky though…^ but mostly just plain hymns and then I like listening to a lot of Legacy Five's music. :D

No, it's not really hard doing two. It's extra work, of course, but doable. Actually a lot of people do two instruments, some do three. Well, now that I think about it, most piano majors stick with piano, it seems.

Wheaton has a pretty strong music program, doesn't it? Not really familiar with Cedarville. I go to SBU in MO, it's a small private school.
I just looked at Wheaton's music requirements, it looks more intense than my school, so it might be harder to do two instruments there.

You said on one of the Bible Bee forums that you would be interested in helping with the Bible Bee Game Show recaps for my blog. A few other people have volunteered, so if you're still interested, I thought that we could get some sort of system figured out for who would do it when. I would need to have your email address, so you could leave a comment on my blog with it, if you want. ^JSYK, all the comments go to my blogger account before they are published on the blog, so I would not publish your comment if it had your email address in it.^
