Mirabelle

I've been on Memverse since Jan 1st of this year and I just now discovered these forums… oops.

But here I am!! =D

I'm super excited to get to meet all of you!! I read some posts and you all seem pretty cool =)

Okay, now, some fun facts:

I'm currently at a Christian liberal arts college in the midwest US studying Music Education. (It's the second biggest major at my school, only superseded by Engineering Physics!) My main instrument is the French horn, which I've been playing for around 10 years now. I'm also good at lots of other instruments (piano, singing, guitar, flute, and kinda with clarinet) and not-so-good at many others (drums, trumpet, trombone, and nearly everything else… haha!! xD). I might be switching my major to Music Therapy, which would mean I'd need to transfer schools… which I really, REALLY don't want to do xP

Despite being a classically trained musician, I enjoy listening to Christian music. I used to be really into the stuff on KLove, but I've been converted to the Bethel-Hillsong sort of stuff. I've found so much more power in that music. I'm a huge fan of Worshipmob and almost exclusively listen to their stuff! xD They're wonderfully talented musicians and do covers and original songs. I've still got a big place in my heart for Tenth Avenue North, For King and Country, and Hawk Nelson =)

If you can't tell by now, I'm a huge fan of smiley faces, so anticipate on seeing those a lot! xD

My favorite hobby is knitting!! I learned how to knit from some friends in my dorm. It's kinda a big thing there. Probably because it gets super windy… Anyway, I'm getting pretty good!! I typically make small wintery-things that are done on two needles, like hats and scarves. I'm currently working on a shawl, by far my biggest project to this point. I've tried knitting-in-the-round projects but it's been a struggle. I recently acquired stitch markers and double-pointed needles, and that should help a lot!!

To cap it all off, I'm a HUGE HUGE HUGE Lord of the Rings fan!!!! =D I didn't get into it until a few years ago, but I've been hooked ever since. I haven't read the Silmarillion yet, but I'm very familiar with the characters and the basic plot(s).

So, that's what I've got!! Feel free to ask me questions. I may or may not reveal what school I'm at for privacy reasons, simply because this page is public…

Okay, FIRE AWAY!! =)

In His Grace,
~Mirabelle

Hooray!!!! Another girl about my age! :D
Welcome, Mirabelle! My name is Sarah, and I am so happy you are here! :)
I think you will find that there are a lot of people here who share your interests (music and LOtR - at least)! XD I don't know how to knit, but I love chrochay! I have made several blankets. :)
I would love to someday meet you in person, so I really hope you stick around the forums awhile!!! If you get on the Social Chat that's where we do a good bit of our random chatting. It's really fun!
Do you like to read? How old are you (if you don't mind saying)? I will be 20 in April of next year. :) What do you plan to do for a career? pauses Um.. I guess I'll let you answer those questions before I go on. ;D
Rejoice!

Yay! Another person to discuss music with! I love everything to do with music although at the moment I am limited to guitar and piano! If you see my introduction page it says a little about me, under joyfully His. I look forward to getting to know you better! Welcome to the forums! xD :) ;) xP ( as you can see, I am also a huge fan of exclamation marks and smilies!)

Welcome to the forums, Mirabelle. I am Carissa (or Cari, as I'm known here). I used to be quite active on the forums, but as of lately, I am not so. The forums are lots of fun though and I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay here. :)

Esther Grace

Welcome to the forums! I'm Esther. :) (and I'm not that much younger than Sarah)
What do you plan to do with a Music Education degree?
I've read The Silmarillion; it's fairly dry and can be confusing, but it's still quite interesting because of the backstory. :)
Have you ever done Bible Bee? Many of us on the forums have.

Hey, I'm also currently at a Christian liberal arts college in the midwest US (Missouri in my case) studying Music. :) Not music ed, though. I'll be entering my junior year in the fall, what about you? I'm majoring in voice with piano as a secondary area. I like CCM but am not hugely into it, I don't even know those groups that you mentioned. :) I'm into musical theatre, though.

I'm actually not on MV very much any more, I just got on and happened to notice yours so I thought I'd reply. :)

Hi Mirabelle,
Don't worry, it took me a while to find the forums (and even longer to be brave enough to post…)
Okay, I'm also doing in tertiary education, also knit, also do music, also love LOtR. =D
When did you become a Christian? What church do you go to?

Hi! I'm Gloria, aka Batman. I kinda know how to knit too but it's really hard for me, so i mostly stick to crocheting and sewing although i don't prefer to do really any of them. ;P I also like music. my fav. bands and artist are Rend Collective, Skillet, Hillsong's United and Young & Free, Owl City, Tenth Avenue North, for King and Country, Group 1 Crew, etc. etc. ;)

Welcome, Mirabelle! Great to "meet" you! If you spend any time around me you'll soon figure out I, too, use emoticons all the time on social media. There's probably one after about every other sentence I write. xD I love For King and Country, Tenth Avenue North, Hawk Nelson, and all those bands, but I also really enjoy the Hillsong/Bethel type songs too. =)

Hey, guys! I'm back!

I've been inactive for quite a while. In July I got a bit overwhelmed with summer school, and then a girl I knew from high school suddenly died in a drowning accident, which pretty messed me up for the rest of the summer…

but now I'm back!! My school does a January term and I'm taking a general New Testament course where I have to memorize verses, so that naturally brought me back here! xD Now I'm being flooded with all the verses… here we go…

I hope to get to all your questions, but for now, here's some things:

I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do after college with a music education degree. I can see myself teaching middle school band/orchestra/general music or all grade orchestra. I'm hoping to student teach abroad (maybe in Africa?), and that could directly segue into a job there!

My main instrument used to be the French horn, but I might switch to piano since it takes a lot less energy to do (lots of deep, focused breathing and facial muscles vs. finger coordination and moving my arms and right foot). Still trying to figure out those details…

I'm hesitant to say my age, but I'm definitely in the 18-22 range. I'm a sophomore academically. =)

I actually just began to teach myself crochet!! It's really fun!!! I think I actually like it more than knitting… hehe we'll see where that takes me! I love learning new things =)

Teach in Crete!!! :P

Crocheting is fun! I learned when i was like, 6, but all i know is how to do the single line…. im still working on adding to it… i dont know how to knit though…:D

Hello! I may have seen you around, but I don't think we've officially met. :) I've been a little inactive lately, too, for different reasons, but I hope to be on more in the near future.

Hip hip hooray!!! Another LOTR fan to join the club! :D I love it, too, and I actually own Arwen's sword- which I have yet to display. :P I haven't read the Silmarillion, but I'd like to sometime, after I'm caught up with school. ;)

I used to play clarinet a little, but it was a very old one (about 75 years old, all metal and in one piece except for the mouthpiece) and the little homeschool band I was learning it with stopped and I stopped with it. Anyhow, I might have learned to use it better if I had kept on with it, but when I occasionally get it out nowadays it still squonks like ever! XD

Hope to see you around!

You guys are awesome!! =) It's so fun to hear to little stories with music, haha!!

Hey, are you in Crete or from Crete or something? (I feel like this might be obvious, but I felt that I should ask anyway…)

Wow, that's awesome!! =D

I love how a lot of us can connect with similar things, even if we're across the world!! My mind is kinda exploding with the awesomeness… I may need to be scraped off the walls in a minute… haha
