MilesChristiSum

At the request of the persistent populace (jk.), I present you Miles; the thread about myself.
Many have asked what's "MilesChristiSum" mean anyhow? 2Timothy 2:3 describes the Christian as a soldier, and that's what my user-name means in Latin; I am a soldier of Christ.
I have been on Memverse, since 07/11/2011, and have had the same username since then. Back then, I had the perhaps more accurately characteristic avatar, a red inverted triangle with eyeglasses, and a straight face with a pipe, (or at least that's my perception of it.) My current pic is the FN P90, and accompanying Five Seven, by FN Hernstal, along with their respective mag's.
Around a year and three-quarters ago, I wrote out my testimony of God's salvation in my life, for a presentation in AWANA. I tried to make it be more than just a story of me, but to put the Gospel message throughout it, so I had the kids look up the verses, and read them aloud when I came to that part of my talk. Here's the typed version of what I presented then;

Today I will be sharing my testimony with you.
I have grown up in a christian home and I went to church all my life, so when I was saved at six years old, there was no dramatic change in the way I lived.
I had come to the realization though, that I was a sinner headed for hell, and that I needed saving;
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
We can't save ourselves;
Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Romans 10:13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
I had to repent of my sins, and have faith that Jesus would save me; 2 Corinthians 7:10For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

A few years later, I was baptized. Showing outwardly to others what happened at salvation;
Romans 6:3-43 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Reading, memorizing and studying God's word are all very good habits to develop;
Psalm 119:9,11,15,103-105
9Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
11Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
15I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
103How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.
105Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

I have been trying to read through the Bible in 90 days, I started Jan 1 this year [2012], and the 90 days ends the end of this month. I am only about halfway through, but if I hadn't set this goal, I wouldn't have been so far already. I encourage you all to set some goals for yourself. Don't make your goals impossible to reach, otherwise you will fail, and will probably be discouraged enough not to keep trying.

The past 3 years, I was involved in the National Bible Bee. I enjoyed the bible studies, and memorizing verses for the Bible Bee. This is a good opportunity for you to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ; Matthew 6:19-21,33 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
I encourage you to look into this and ask your parents if you can be involved this year. www.biblebee.org This year there are 2 verse cards to memorize each week and a bible study to do for 20 min per day over the summer.

Something that has helped me to review the verses that I have memorized, is MemVerse. An online memory verse program that allows you to put in the verses wish to memorize, and the program gives you your verses due for review when you log in each day. You type in the verses, and it gives you corrections or helps. The verses will be automatically scheduled for review based on how well you know them.

We need to remember to not only read, study, and memorize God's word, but to obey what it says;
James 1:22-24.But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
I thought this was a good closing verse for what I have said; Colossians 3:16-17.Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing! You really did a good job of making your testimony be more than just a story of you, but to put the Gospel message throughout it and that was characteristic of your introduction as well! :) I was encouraged and blessed by your use of God's word.
Keep trying to read through the Bible! Just keep pressing on! :)

When my sister and I talk about people on MV (and yes we do talk about things) we always call you Miles even though we both know your real name.

@LE how good of you…..

And now a presentation of The Lost Wisdom Teeth!

A long time ago in a memory far far away (sorry Mr. Lucas), … I had my wisdom teeth removed. The dentist had decreed it, the parents had agreed it, "no wisdom teeth for you!!" But what harm had they ever done me, for all I knew it was those yet to emerge wisdom teeth were the ones to whom I should credit all my smarts. Sed alea iacta est; the die was cast. Soon it was found there was an oral surgeon coming to town (not mine, my dentist's) so the date was set, and an appointment made. In the chair there I sat, soon to lose all of that great wisdom. Here squeeze this foam ball, as hard as you can ha ha ha ha ha (evil emphasis added by somewhat disgruntled author looking for reader pity). Little did this surgeon know the mighty grip of that hand and how that foam ball would not leave me while conscious. Then with a latex tube, he wrapped my arm, tourniquet fashion above the joint. This was to cause a swelling in my vein, so an IV he could insert, and a drug he could administer. Fade to Black. Fade in lobby scene. Fade out lobby scene. Fade in truck scene, 'I swallowed the gauze.' Then to a life of sleeping sat upright, and consuming no chewables, and ice packs for the face, though of swelling there was hardly a trace. And the poor boy got better, and regained that dieted-away-portion-of-his-weight, and lived not entirely-happily-ever-after.
The End

Hello Sauroc and Miles! I don't believe we've introduced. I'm Caleb :) You are brothers right? How come you both are awake now? Normally most Americans are asleep by now. Where do you guys live? :) :)

Rebeka B.

shudders I think… all things considered… I'll just keeping mine. The poor boy! Do you know anyone who has kept there's? I don't. What does it mean that you “swallowed the gaze”? Sounds scary.

Do you have fillings at all?

MilesChristiSum

Hi Caleb, were in AK, so that was at 11 pm here.

@ Lady Elusive, I don't know anybody who has theirs, I was semi conscious, and swallowed the Gauze that they packed in there to keep me from biting my tongue and to soak up the blood etc. No I don't have any fillings.

Caleb

Oh ok! I see. I was just surprised anyone was on because usually everyone is asleep by then! Do you do biblebee? :)

Rebeka B.

My dad never had any… but he had to have braces. My mom had her's cut out but never had braces. I was really hoping I didn't have any, but I’m afraid I wasn’t so fortunate. :P

MilesChristiSum

@ Caleb, Yes, I did do the Bible Bee, all the years that they had it, but now I am too old.

@ Lady Elusive, I had braces, and got my wisdom teeth pulled, but didn't want either, I hoped I would get the wisdom teeth, but that they'd come in straight.

Sometimes I think dentists are just trying to get money. Because they are. Well, I'm glad you don't have fillings. Don't ever let anyone tell you they are "safe"!

btw, I'm changing my username for good.

8388965b5b42478a0d5d39809fbc8365?s=128&d=mm

MilesChristiSum

Do you consider fillings unsafe? have you had any? I got sealants, which are like fillings, but white, because they're just to fill in the cracks in the chewing surfaces of the molars.

B383c0c1334c7d23261591e2c225d4cf?s=128&d=mm

Caleb

Same with some doctors. I thought this was funny: If a dentist makes his money off people with unhealthy teeth, why would I trust a toothbrush and toothpaste that 4 out of 5 dentists recommend? :D

266cde1033d31d718cd424406e1da504?s=128&d=mm

Rebeka B.

Miles- I don’t think sealants are harmful but I have not really looked into them much. I know most about amalgam fillings a how bad they are because my mom has them. She wants to have removed but she can’t be pregnant or nursing when she does or it could hurt the baby. Amalgam fillings have mercury in them that slowly leeks into the body and cases lots of health problems. You do know that mercury is a poison right? Any kind of medal in the mouth is not good for you, mercury is just one of the worst.

Caleb- Very good point! The fact is you can’t trust those things either. Fluoride is a rat poison that they put in many toothpaste (if you want to study this for yourself a good book to read would be Fluoride Deception by Christopher Bryson). Toothbrushes also increase a more rapid decay of the gums. The dentist our family is going to recommends “Hydro Floss” instead that cleans teeth by shooting water.

8388965b5b42478a0d5d39809fbc8365?s=128&d=mm

MilesChristiSum

@ ServantOftheLord So, do you guys not brush your teeth? I never wanted any fillings, and am more glad now, I didn't know the amalgam had mercury in them.

266cde1033d31d718cd424406e1da504?s=128&d=mm

Rebeka B.

Mom and Dad use a Hydro Floss but we (the children) still brush and floss our teeth because it's to expensive to buy a Hydro Floss for the whole family. Hydro Flossing is supposed to clean teeth better then just normal brushing.
Cavities can be a sign of mineral deficiency so if you have what they call a "watch" on a tooth try taking more minerals.

No, I am not a dentist or a doctor… I wouldn't be telling you these things if I were! lol ^Your doctor would be so mad at me! jk^

I'm assuming you haven't had any teeth problems lately since you haven't been posting here much… LOL

No good for the last few days, we got all the warm 40's weather that belongs in your locale, and it made all the streets so slick they sent out the sanding trucks which do a "great job!" with their 3"- sand.

8388965b5b42478a0d5d39809fbc8365?s=128&d=mm

MilesChristiSum

Sorry, perhaps I put it badly, there may be 3" deep, but only in certain patches, the stuff they sanded with, I heard was three-inch-minus, meaning that they ran the gravel-sand-etc. through 3" grating, so you get anything smaller than 3".

Ddd5aeff0d37e8c2aa9782a6316c57a8?s=128&d=mm

Sarah B.

So did you have ice? Is that why they were sanding? When i think of warm weather having the roads sanded is the last thing I think of…

8388965b5b42478a0d5d39809fbc8365?s=128&d=mm

MilesChristiSum

Well, the gravel roads here are normally covered in several inches of hard-packed snow in winter, and the snowmachines run up and down the roads, but its not too slick to drive or walk on normally. But when it warms up, the roads are really slick, and they scrape and sand them.

266cde1033d31d718cd424406e1da504?s=128&d=mm

Rebeka B.

Oh, I see! When I was little we had dirt roads (and no snow). Now I live on a pothole road that has man eating potholes and lots and lots of snow!!! … did I ever mention that we live in the "ice belt" of our state?

@Sauroc I'm just pretty sure that I have explained this one to you before. However far back in the leaf-mould of the mind it might be.

So its come to this, double posting on my own thread….jk
Words of wisdom from the school of hard knocks;
When a sick dog has to go out, don't wait.
when cleaning up after said very sick dog, don't leave the unpredictable toilet unattended and flushing.

the hint that I gave really wasn't following any preplanned protocol, because I didn't want to get specific there or that would tell all.
