Christian Alexander

Just realized today that I don't think I ever made one of these. O_o

I also made the decision today to change my username, after much thought and deliberation with myself. So for those of you who are confused, I am ChiefOfSinners (COS), aka Christian Alexander, older brother of SavedByGrace and God's Maiden of Virtue.

Hmmm… what can I say about myself? Probably a lot. But you don't want me to give you a doctoral dissertation about my life. So I'll just say a few things:

Some interests: theology, philosophy, apologetics, music, movies, reading, soccer, friends…

I guess I'll go a little deeper with each of those.

Theology, philosophy, and apologetics pretty much go together, I think. I love learning how to support what I believe. But in addition to that, I love getting into the heads of people who believe things totally different than I do, to understand why exactly they believe the things they do. That makes it easier to debate/discuss their worldviews, and it also gives me a deeper understanding of my own.

Music. Ask anyone who knows me. If there's anything that can affect me in an endless number of profound ways, it's music. =p And I like just about every style that God has given man the talent to create. Pop, rap, rock…even some dubstep, sometimes. XD Two styles I really can't get into are screamo and country. =p I've tried, but I just can't appreciate them, I'm sorry. xP I mostly stick to Christian music, but I do branch out into secular stuff, depending primarily on the content. Lyrics are important to me. And this is another way I like to analyze worldview, philosophy, etc. =p

Movies are also something I'm really into. Probably more than is good for me. I like just about every genre here, too. Thrillers, action, mystery, and especially horror are some of my favorites. xp That last one might surprise some people. I don't go as much for gory stuff, but I like the type that sends chills up your spine and creeps you out. Mostly paranormal stuff. =p My philosophy of movies could probably use some improvement, though. Just because something is entertaining and not immoral doesn't mean that it's good for me. =p So if anyone wants to give me a hard time about that, I guess I wouldn't mind too much.

Reading is what I have always claimed is my favorite pastime… and yet I seem to be spending less and less time doing it these days. I read tons of stuff online, keeping up with news and reviews of movies, music, pop culture, etc…. But I don't just sit and read for hours like I used to. Which makes me sad. =( I do have several books that I'm trying to read at the moment, though, so I guess I'm reading more than usual right now. I mostly read theology/Christian living books, but I really love good fiction, too. Sometimes I just can't convince myself to utilize my precious time to read a fictional book though…. despite how much I always enjoy it. =p

Soccer… I guess I just put this on the list because it's the one sport I'm kinda sorta good at. I've played for a number of years, and I think my skill has progressed a lot as I've gone along. But I'm not really that much of an outside person. So I don't play it too much. But I do have fun when I do play. =)

And friendsssssss. Probably my new favorite pastime. I love my friends. Like, seriously. And I tell them as much, unashamedly, be they male or female. x) God has brought so many wonderful people into my life. Now, granted, most of them are online friends, but don't let that make you think I'm a loner. xP I have several good irl friends, too. They're just harder to find. But yeah… I could spend all day chatting with friends, irl or online, e-mail or instant chat…. I just love them all so much. X) I love getting to know who people really are inside and then getting to help them with their struggles, giving them the gospel where they need it and encouraging them in their walk, just like they do for me. If I could just build relationships with people and give them the gospel and have mutually edifying friendships with them, and get paid to do it somehow, I would be happy for life. xD

Anywayzzzzz, I've probably gone on too long. But hopefully the few of you who read the whole thing enjoy what you find and get to know me a little better. =) Feel free to ask questions and make comments and stuff! :D I'm trying to be here on MV a little more often these days, so I'll get to you when I can. =]

Yay! Christian! This means you will be on the Fourms more often?! xD

Edit - Oh! I forgot- Carissa would want me to warn you about two people on the forums… Sammy and Noah. Just so you know: they tease a lot! ;) ^I know you know that better then I do…^

AAAAAAAAAAAND he's a Calvinist!

I hope you're on here more, for I have missed thee.

And to those watching on the outside, think not that a simple anti-calvinist joke can break the bonds of friendship formed in the depths of a pool in sevierville.

I do not prefer the term Calvinist, actually. I definitely don't agree with everything Calvin taught. And there are probably several things I believe that Calvin would not quite agree with. I really just take the Bible at its word in several places where others are more uncomfortable to do so (e.g., Romans 9). You might more accurately call me "Reformed," since the doctrines I hold to were popularized by many of the Protestant Reformers in the 16th century.

I am going to try to be on more, yes. =)

Wowwww. XD We didn't first meet in a pool, did we? I don't think so… but that made for a great line. =P

Christiannnnnn! You made a post, and I finally get to read it, after you told me about it. =) Very nice. XD

Can't wait to see you in less than a week! Can't stop thinking about it! =] Miss you!

Christian! It was so awesome seeing you again! XD Thanks for hanging out with us… really enjoyed it! I have lots of great memories from the past week with you guys. =) My favorite, at nationals, was probably staying up late with you and Nicolas, Rosie and Carissa. Oh. And Saturday night card games was pretty awesome too. =] And thanks for the being such a great guide at Disney World… answering all my questions, listening to us scream on the roller-coasters, and talking to me. Enjoyed the time we had to talk about work, etc. It was lots of fun! Already miss you tons and can't wait for the next time our families get together! Hope it won't be long. ;)

Thanks for this comment. It made me happy today. =] My mind is full of wonderful memories as well, and it seems like we share the favorite moments. xp At Nationals, I definitely enjoyed the nights that we stayed up late with you guys. But overall, for the whole week, that Monday at Disneyworld was for sure the highlight for me. I so enjoyed getting to show you guys around to my favorite parts of Magic Kingdom, as well as getting to experience the best rides and the fireworks at Epcot. That was definitely a day I will never forget. And, yes, I enjoyed the conversations we got to have as we walked around. =]

Thanks for being such a great friend! I miss you, too, and I'm really looking forward to June!

So good to see you again Christian! It was fun being in the same orals together...you did great :D Seek Christ!

Yes, I did think that was very fun. =] I was hoping there would be people I knew… although it may have calmed my nerves a little more if there was absolutely no one I knew in the room. xD I'm weird like that.

I hope God allows you to qualify again next year!

Yes, that is exactly how I felt! But it ended up being fun ^ _ ^
Thank you! I would love to qualify next year! :) The studying is a lot of work, but oh, so worth it! :) How do you feel, this being your last year?

A3806e5a47ff9fa527155bd268c37099?s=128&d=mm

His Servant

Yup. :) Haha… it makes me happy just thinking back about it all, and recounting it with others who were there! Definitely the best nationals ever. XD I would probably have to say that Monday was my favorite day too. It was so much better than I was expecting! I guess I had a very low expectation of it since we had never been to an amusement park, and I was assuming that they weren't very great, which is one of the reasons why we didn't go. I was very wrong. =)

And the same to you! Can't wait for June, because I already miss you guys tons.

Oh. And I'm planning on sending more pictures tonight sometime. ;) EDIT - Gah. I think I got a little carried away with the pictures. Sorry the e-mail is so big. =/ Should have sent it in two e-mails or something. Remember to show them to Rosie. ;)

0aeb4024e469ca3f8a6d5da4e10a09b8?s=128&d=mm

Christian Alexander

There is, however, the question of whether you want all of the pictures Rosie took of all of the various sights around Epcot. If so, then I shall get to work on that as well. At this point, I'm only sending you one or two of those kinds of pictures. But if you want more, that's no problem.

A3806e5a47ff9fa527155bd268c37099?s=128&d=mm

His Servant

Wow. You guys took a lot of pictures. At first I had no idea what kind of e-mail I was getting, since it was taking foreverrrr to come in, and then I realized it must be pictures from you. ;) I hope it didn't take you to long to do that…? =/ Um. Well. If you have a couple from Disney World, but only if it has people in it (of our group). I don't really need ones of just various sights. But, really, whatever is fine. I feel bad having to take all this time of yours.

0aeb4024e469ca3f8a6d5da4e10a09b8?s=128&d=mm

Christian Alexander

Oh, sorry about that. I probably should have split it up over multiple e-mails.

It didn't take too long. ;) I actually sent you all of the ones from Disneyworld that had people from our group in them, so I guess I sent you all the ones you wanted. =]

Don't feel bad! I'm glad to do it. =) You sent me the awesome pictures I wanted, so why would I not do the same for you? ;)

A3806e5a47ff9fa527155bd268c37099?s=128&d=mm

His Servant

No, it's easier with 1 e-mail, rather than multiple, I was just wondering at first what it could possibly be. :)

But, really, thanks so much. I really appreciate it! So much fun looking through pictures. =]

EDIT - And sometime soon, I'll try to reply to e-mails that I have stacking up in my inbox. ;)

0aeb4024e469ca3f8a6d5da4e10a09b8?s=128&d=mm

Christian Alexander

Wonderful. =] I actually started thinking maybe you were just intentionally not responding. XD But I figured you had a perfectly good reason. ;) And don't feel rushed. I know you're under restrictions with how frequently you're allowed to e-mail, so I totally understand.

A3806e5a47ff9fa527155bd268c37099?s=128&d=mm

His Servant

Intentionally not responding?! I dunno what would make you think that, except I haven't responded to most e-mail. =/ But no, that's not the reason. Just haven't gotten around to replying to them yet. I'm thinking about just doing one e-mail in like a day or two, that way I don't have to respond to them all along with a regular e-mail… if you don't mind. Since I have stuff to tell you about. ;)

EDIT - And my dad is kinda slow with checking e-mails, which is one of the reasons too. But it's fine, if you can just wait for a while. =) Gotta go! Supper prep!

0aeb4024e469ca3f8a6d5da4e10a09b8?s=128&d=mm

Christian Alexander

I just thought it might be something your dad was imposing. shrugs One e-mail sounds great. =] Take your time.

Ah, okay, so you don't get them until he screens them? No problem. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. ;)

A3806e5a47ff9fa527155bd268c37099?s=128&d=mm

His Servant

Nope. :P I'll probably start working on it tonight…

No, I get them when they come in. I get to check my e-mail when I want (which is normally in the evening, so I don't get distracted in the morning while studying). But he also gets them as well. And then when I want to write an e-mail and send it, he has to check it first before I actually send it to the person. Which is normally the longest process, because he doesn't seem to see them right away. =)

0aeb4024e469ca3f8a6d5da4e10a09b8?s=128&d=mm

Christian Alexander

Thank you! I'm very pleased with how I did, but I'm actually even more pleased with how you did. XD You wanted it even more than I did, and you worked way harder than I did, and you had no aspirations of getting as high a score as you did. So I am so thrilled for you. What a great way to end your last year in the Bible Bee!

A3806e5a47ff9fa527155bd268c37099?s=128&d=mm

His Servant

Aww…that's really nice of you. But really, you did awesome too!! I am glad with the way BB ended…I was definitely not expecting it, so it was that much more exciting. XD

0aeb4024e469ca3f8a6d5da4e10a09b8?s=128&d=mm

Christian Alexander

I couldn't have really asked for anything better. When I really think about it, I don't want to make it to semi-finals. xD It would be too much stress, and I feel pretty confident I would fail. I've always had an awesome time being able to sit back and relax after the preliminary rounds. So the fact that I got really close to semis but didn't make it is really all I could have hoped for. =]

Yeah, I'm still just shocked. You obviously did way better on the test than you thought you did. And I'm so happy about that. You've apparently learned a lot about how to conquer it, over the years. ;)

A3806e5a47ff9fa527155bd268c37099?s=128&d=mm

His Servant

Yeah. Semi's would have been cool, but honestly, I don't do well under that kind of stress and pressure. :)

Haha…thanks. I was surprised with my score, because I thought that test was super hard and that I hadn't done well. So yeah, I can confidently say, I'm glad with the way BB turned out this year. XD

0aeb4024e469ca3f8a6d5da4e10a09b8?s=128&d=mm

Christian Alexander

Exactly. I probably wouldn't even enjoy it because of how stressed I would be. xP Probably the only plus would be knowing that all of my friends all over the U.S. and at home would be able to see me online. =p

Haha, well, whenever Everett or Olivia says that, they end up doing immensely better than they thought, so I guess you were just following in their footsteps. xp

A3806e5a47ff9fa527155bd268c37099?s=128&d=mm

His Servant

Haha! I know I would have been super stressed. Everyone who knows me, knows I get stressed out in things like that. =p

Meh. I honestly was taken by shock, because if you had told me after the test I would come in 29th, I would have strongly NOT believed you. :P

A3806e5a47ff9fa527155bd268c37099?s=128&d=mm

His Servant

XD And I wouldn't have believed me either, honestly. xD I'm still just so happy about it. xD

LOL! You can say that again - I'm happy too. =] ^And no, you really don't have to say it again. :P^

A3806e5a47ff9fa527155bd268c37099?s=128&d=mm

His Servant

Yes, I did. =p

BTW, wrote an e-mail, dad probably still haven't seen it. facepalm I'll ask him about it sometime tonight, if I get the chance.
