2 Corinthians 5:17

I'm thinking of memorizing the book of Philippians, or at-least chapter 2. Haven't decided yet, but would anyone like to join me? It's got (I think) 104 verses in it, and 4 chapters.

@Rachel: I hope the memorizing of the book of Philippians goes well for you. I had a great time memorizing it last year…only problem is that I didn't review it at all during Bible Bee and thus lost most of it. It should be pretty easy to pick up again :D I would really like memorizing the book with you

I've memorized much of Philippians 2 in the past; reviewing and adding to it would be a great project for over the Christmas vacation. I'll think/pray about it, and I will probably join you all in working on at least that chapter!

My plan is to do Philippians in January, unless there's a memorization challenge done by IBLP. :) Then I'll do it in February. So I'd be happy to join you. :)

What Bible version are you guys going to use? I was thinking of doing some of the epistles in a more modern version. Recommendations?

@Rachel - did you get the idea from me?!

What's funny is that I can't say I'm joining you guys, because I have been memorizing Philippians since Nationals! I'm definitely on the list in that case. I especially like chapter 2:10 - He is the highest example of humility.

It seems that my week-old comment is still pending for review by the "moderators." (I had requested to join the Philippians group.)

I hope I am included because I am really enjoying memorizing this marvelous little book. Thanks for the opportunity.

I don't know who the moderators are, but I hope for a response soon.

If I had known that you were also a moderator, I would have waited much longer in silence. You do so much.
I am grateful for all that you and the staff do.
"Thank you" seems so inadequate.

I just switched over to "Philippians project." So how is everyone doing on memorizing Philippians? What is the most important thing God is teaching you all?

I am in chapter 1.
I am amazed at the close relationship that Paul had with his flock.
There was genuine concern and affection for his brothers and sisters in Christ.
Church was not just a successful enterprise. It was family.

No, I went to google translate got what I wanted in Greek and cut and paste into my Memverse account :)
Yes, I think the key verse in Philippians 1 is "But if I live in the flesh this if the fruit of my labour, yet what I shall choose I wot not for I am in a strait betwixt two having a desire to be with Christ which is far better, nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you." I love Phil. 2:1-11. Special memory and great verses :) I'll be taking a break for a while but will be back to memorizing Philippians on Feb. 1st. :)

Thanks for sharing what you all are learning. There is so much in Philippians! I am in chapter 2, working through cross-references right now. Just this morning I wrote down the definition of "blameless" and "innocent," (verse 15). The former "describes a life that cannot be criticized because of sin or evil." The latter "a life that is pure, unmixed, and unadulterated with sin, much like high quality metal without any alloy." God grant that we all be totally set apart for Him.
