How is everyone coming with Romans? I would love to hear about your progress.

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten out of Romans 1 yet but want to put a lot more effort on this project. I'm going to start carrying cards with me to make it easier….

Well, I got to the end of Chapter 3 a couple of months ago, but I stopped, and now the only thing that's solidly in my head is Chapter 1 and the first few verses of Chapter 2.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be meeting my new year's resolution of finishing Romans by the end of the year. :(

Alex–I am going at a snail's pace compared to the calendar's demands, and I too will probably not be memorizing the book before the year closes out. However, I am on 5:16, which isn't too bad.

Romans Project - check
Going in order - no check

I don't know when you originally started it, but I should fly through it pretty quick.

I started at the Meat and Potatoes of Romans with chapter 8! My plan is to have it done by the end of the year. Or if i'm lucky by my birthday which is the last week of October.

Wretched Man

Today is scheduled to be Romans 8:27, and I'm currently at Romans 8:27 (with some lingering problems with 5:15, 5:17, 5:21; 6:4, 6:13, 6:19, 6:21, 7:4-6, & 7:13).

Since I don't rehearse chapters 1-4 as much as I should, I find myself quite rusty when I do; but I also find that they're becoming much more solidified that way, too.

It's hard to believe we're still not even halfway through the book. Yikes!

I joined this group not knowing who started it or what its goals. My goal is to memorize Romans by the end of 2012. I am trying to learn 2 new verses a day, 5 days a week and reviewing completed chapters a couple of times a week. I am currently on Romans 5:16. Although I don't think Memverse has credited any of these verses to the Romans Project Group yet.

I suspect I used the Memverse program wrong because initially I was doing "Chapter Review" every day for all the chapters and that caused the "Interval" to be reset every day. So even after correctly reciting the first chapters for over a month, the interval stayed at 9.

But, even if Memverse never thinks I memorized them, I'll know. And I am gaining so much insight by focusing on these verses daily!

God bless you all and hang in there!

Yesterday I did 8:27, and I already know verse 28, so I'm taking a review break. Overall, I'm doing well, but need review on other verses in chapter 8. Romans Project is close to being #1 on the group leaderboard!

I started memorizing Romans but am going to wait and memorize it while we go through it at our church. So I am in Romans 1:12 This is God's Bondslave on somebody elses account. Oops ! Caught Trespassing.

I guess I'm now the leader of the "Romans Project", any suggestions on how I should describe it? So far I have a description for the group, and then the "assignment of the day" from Wretched Man's calendar (which I'll try to update every day).

Right now, as far as memorizing goes, I added verse 19 of chapter 10 today.

Perhaps you could say it's a group for:
Determined Daredevils Digging Deep into Doctrine!
OR Paul's Pet Project Poured into People
OR Roman Road Readiness for the Rapture Race
OR Treasure Trove of Theological Tidbits.

Sorry, I just needed to have a little light-hearted fun at the end of a rough day… Please don't take offense. I had to write a description for the Bible Bee NC group and found the creative juices a bit dried up there. Maybe just a simple, to the point description that addresses what questions people might have about who its for, what's the goal or challenge posed, when it is active for, and why it's a good project. When I signed up for it originally I wondered if it was open to all and whether it was a group with a specific time deadline, whether there would be discussion of what some of the verses mean, etc.

I've made it to Romans 7:13, by the way. The last three chapters have been bears to get in the right sequence. I know the verses, but just can't seem to get the flow from one verse to the next verse locked down. My poor brain just gets lost in Paul's reasoning. Not complaining, though. Trying to sort out his reasoning and digest all the info tossed in as asides, is helping me to get to know his mind and the truths he's trying to teach a little better.

Those are all pretty nice… (your reference to the rapture could be a discussion in itself), but I think I'll just keep it the way it is - for now, anyway.

Oops! Sorry InSoloChristo, I didn't realize you had already posted your description before I entered the reply! I wasn't criticizing or suggesting a change to what you wrote, only food for thought when thinking you were still considering how to write the description. Your description is fine.

I know. I can change the description, and I already had a description up when I posted my comment. Nothing to be embarrassed about.

I have 105 verses to go! So the "first pass" (memorization) should be finished in a few weeks! Then will come the periodic reviews for several months until Memverse is convinced that I know them…

I'm basically finished, still polishing the last several chapters. I will continue reviewing regularly for a few more months.
