I think so. Though we wouldn't like that law, it wouldn't be telling us to do something wrong, that is, go to the hospital.

Now, if the government tried to control our fertility, is an entirely different question! I hope I won't ever live to see that happen. Anyone seen the movie Remember?

Some people can't afford to go to the hospital. What should they do?

Nope. Never seen that. :)

I saw Remember! It was really great. I think that when the government confiscates children or attempts to control how many children we have, we must disobey. But just being ordered to go to the hospital is not something to disobey. It is being tyrannical, but is not causing us to sin, or harming anyone.

I don't know…have an unassisted birth? Midwives are often expensive too…

Well, it's like someone is imagining what the future might be like, in 2050 or something. Women can only have three children, and they force sterilization after that. (I think they even mentioned post-birth abortion once…) And they take the children away from their parents after birth and put them in state institutions. Adults take pills to forget the past. That's why it's called Remember. It's kind of creepy, thinking that some of those things actually might happen eventually.

I agree.

In defense of my dear state, we have great homeschool laws, a relatively small school attendance requirement, scarce gun restriction, and at least a nominally Christian governor. And a recent ruling by the state court indicated that an unborn child is alive and its life should be protected. Over all, anti-homebirth law seems inconsistent with the general policies.

Pardon my state pride. sigh XD :)
