This isn't really a discussion issue, but it seemed to fit into this category the best.

How can Christians witness to others? I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Everything seems to come together, watching Living Waters' DVDs, and the verses I am memorizing, and I have been really convicted about witnessing to people. We are to be the light of the world, and I know I haven't tried nearly hard enough to be.

As a homeschooled girl who doesn't go out very much, it is also hard for me to find opportunity to witness to others. Does anyone have any ideas?

When I went to Worldview Academy, they got us out on the street in groups of two or three, and had us witness to total strangers. They did give us a tool though called the Reality Check, and despite its name it was very handy in getting conversations started. Here's another piece of advice: no matter how people react to what you give them, don't be discouraged. We had bunch of different answers from different people, we had a group of three young adults who we actually got to pray with, and then there was one woman who just told us to go away immediately. That's the best advice I can give you. I hope it helps.

This isn't exactly evangelizing directly with people but I thought I would share it anyways. Take a bunch of tracts with you and then drop them everywhere (not quite drop them but just put them around)…On tables, sinks, etc, etc, etc… Also, just hand them out to people, cashiers, waiters/waitresses, when someone holds the door for you, etc, etc, etc…

I have thought about that. The biggest problem for me is that it seems like when I go anywhere, I have to rush through all the errands, and then I forget.

If I remember correctly it looks like a check book, and it has eight yes or no questions, in which seven are no and one is yes. The questions help you get an idea on what the person you're talking to believes in, and whether or not they have a correct Christian worldview. It also can get some pretty good conversations started.

I think it is important to show people that we are different and this makes them curious so they ask us what is different about us and we can witness to them that way. I think that method is better than just giving someone a tract.

Well, what about all the millions of people who will never have the opportunity to see you act like Christ, and thus will never ask you about it? I think it is far better to take the initiative and begin the witnessing ourselves, rather than waiting to be asked to do it.

Yes, in that case it is better I think and maybe I didn't phrase my first post right. I think it is important for people to see your actions out. If someone came up to you and told you that you need to believe in something, you may not be as convinced as if you had be watching them, seen that they were different and asked them about what is different. However in so cases, this won't work so you may need to just tell them about it.

Well, I don't think you should just go up to someone and tell them that they "need to believe in something"; that is not the purpose of evangelism. Evangelism involves, first of all, convincing people of their sin; and then, secondly, telling them about Christ and exhorting them to believe in Him to save them from their sin.

I believe, though, that with anyone with whom we interact frequently, we should not simply wait for them to ask us why we live as we do. If we do this, they may in fact never ask, or they may even die before they get the chance to do so. Do we really want to take the chance of a soul being lost because we didn't want to act too quickly?
