King James Only

I know this was already created, but the last reply was over a year ago… so here's a new thread for new arguments. :)

So… discuss! Is the KJV the only true Bible? Are other versions worldly? Do the other versions take verses out?

I personally like KJV the best. But I do not think that it is the only true Bible version we should use. If anything people who are KJV only should use the Greek Bibile cause that is closest to the text of Scripture. But I also do not like versions like NIV TNIV NLT etc…

I recently switched from the NKJV to the ESV, because our church uses ESV so it's easiest to memorize in. I like the language of the KJV (even though it's outdated to some degree), but I think other versions are more accurate.

The New Awesome Super Bible is the way to go. We don't need "thee"'s and "thous"s. Or the "Extra Spiritual Version". :P

we're starting to use the IBV.

I think KJV is a lot more accurate than most other versions out there, but I personally enjoy using other versions quite frequently to gain new insights into the "thee"s and "thou"s and "therewith"s. (In other words, the older language. :P)

My dad calls ESV the "Especially Strange Version." He claims to be "NASB only." :P I also know someone who calls the NIV the "Non Inspired Version." (He uses NIV himself, though…)

Someone at BB a couple years ago called NIV the "Nearly Inspired Version". xP

I love the language of the KJV, but I don't like its background. Or the fact that it had to be politically correct, either, because that means they had to change the meaning of things in it.

Daddy jokes that he likes to preach out of KJV, because you can fill up your sermon with explaining what words mean. XD

Very well. Licencious is the term used for people who supposedly "walk in grace" but are really using grace as an excuse to do whatever they want. Legalism is sticking too closely to the law and not leaving room for grace. So I made up an oxymoron. :)
