My understanding is that the Authorized King James Version contains the exact wording of the original 1611 edition, whereas the King James Version is the current edition, which has undergone just a couple of very small revisions over time. I believe the current edition was released in 1769, but I could be wrong about that. For the most part, the only changes were to update archaic spelling (such as changing "owne" to "own" or "diddest" to "didst").

The AKJV (Authorized King James Version) on Memverse is the 1769 version which does have most of the archaic spellings removed. It is the version that can be found at www.kingjamesbibleonline.org. Generally, when AKJV verses need verification, this is the website I go to in order to do that.

The KJV (King James Version) is a more modernized version done in 1987, and can be found also on the Bible Gateway website (www.biblegateway.com). When KJV verses need verification, I go to the KJV on the Bible Gateway website in order to do that.

When you select a Bible Version under your Profile, the edition year for the version used on Memverse is noted in brackets after each version.
