The Millenium

I know we've discussed the rapture, and whether it will be before or after the tribulation. What is your position on the Millenium, and why?

I'm not very familiar with the various views on the Millennium, but I currently believe that it will be after the tribulation and that we are not in the Millennial kingdom right now. According to Revelation 20, Satan will be bound during the Millennium so that he cannot deceive the nations. Also, it seems to indicate that Christ will come down and defeat the armies of the world and reign with the resurrected martyrs of the Tribulation. I don't think that is happening right now. The Millennial period seems to be more a time of judgement on the world, whereas now we are in a time of grace (2 Peter 3:9).

Ok. So are you post-millennial or pre-millennial post-tribulational?

The church I attend in China has been discussing it a lot lately. For most of my life I wasn't sure exactly what I believed. The church I grew up in in America is pre-millennial pre-tribulational, but now I'm definitely post-millennial.

Seems pretty clear to me! Revelation 20 is also a good passage to read on the subject.

Currently, I am pre-millennial, pre-tribulational. Since you are post-millennial, do you believe that we are supposed to be setting up Christ's kingdom on earth?

Ok. Yes, I do believe that God is setting up His kingdom, using us to proclaim the Gospel more and more; there is much revival of the Church in many parts of the world. The Postmil Report of Reconstructionist Radio (http://reconstructionistradio.com/the-postmil-report/) is an excellent podcast on the subject – I highly recommend it. Becoming a postmillennialist (and also a Calvinist) has definitely given me a greater desire to get more involved in politics and spreading the Gospel.

I'd love to write more, but here it's getting late at night, so I'll try to write more soon.

Here are a few of my questions on postmillennialism. What do you think about passages such as 2 Timothy 3:1-9, Matthew 24:23-31, 24:26-44, which seem to indicate that the period before Christ's return will be characterized by great deception and evil instead of revival? What about Satan being bound during the millennium (Revelation 20:1-3), and Christ's statement before Pilate in John 18:36 that His servants would not fight to deliver Him because His kingdom is not of this world?
