2013 Sword Study Book
Started by Sydney (aka The Gopher)His Servant
I took Matthew's advice and slept horriby :( it seemed like i was lying in bed for 24 hours….the time seemed to stop.
Emily H
Awww, that's awful! I told him that didn't work for me… I can never go to sleep early. Much less when I'm excited!

I know…and then I dreamed 7 different dreams about what the book was as well….
2 Corinthians 5:17
I slept fine, but my brother came and woke me up really early (he was the only one awake) and then I couldn't get back to sleep :(
Emily H
Oh wow! Were any of them right? :)
His Servant
Oh wow! Were any of them right? :)
Nope! And I'm glad none of them were right, or we'd be studying Hosea or something else hard.
Emily H
Lol, dreams a so weird… :P Did any of you get the new shirt!?
ServantOfTheKing
It took me awhile to get to sleep too. But as soon as I started listening to the Bible, I fell asleep, as usual. I usually fall asleep once I put the Bible on, and if I don't, at least I'm using my time profitably!
Emily H
The Sword Study doesn't have binder holes in it this year…. :-/
ServantOfTheKing
Bummer. Did you use those last year?
Emily H
For locals I didn't, but for Nationals I did. I had a notebook to put all my National material in, and it was nice to be able to put my local Sword Study in the back so I could find it easy. :) Did you use them at all?
ServantOfTheKing
I personally did not, but I see how they can be useful.
Emily H
Yeah… Oh wow! Did you look at the Day 10 Diagrams yet!??
ServantOfTheKing
Nope, I haven't looked at anything! :) I am WAY behind! :)
What version do you use?
I have a sister threatening to lose a hamster that she's babysitting in my room. Uggg. :)
2 Corinthians 5:17
I know! That's sad! :(
EDIT: I hope memverse has the quizzes again! :)
Emily H
lol. =D I use KJV, which do you use again?
haha, that's neat you have hamsters! :)
@Rachel, Me too!!! Those were so much fun. =D
ServantOfTheKing
I use NKJV.
No, wait, they are NOT our hamsters, thank the Lord!!!! That would be awful! We're only babysitting them for a friend.
Yes, Rachel, those quizzes were extremely helpful!
Emily H
Oh sorry. :) You said before that you were babysitting them, I didn't quite catch that. :D How many are there and how long will you have them?
ServantOfTheKing
Only one. (Yeah!) and we'll have them till the 9th or around there.
Do you have any pets?
Emily H
Neat! So…you don't like hamsters? :D
Yes…we have a cat, four rabbits and my brother is raising a pig for the fair. :) But they're all outside pets. Everyone but my mom is allergic to cats, and my brother is a little allergic to rabbits (and the pig probably wouldn't work too well in the house….). :)
ServantOfTheKing
Yes, I don't particularly care for them. ;)
I see why your pets need to be outside, (especially the pig). :) We have 8 cats (but we aren't going to keep all of them), a dog, and 41 chickens. All except the dog are outside. Mom is allergic to cats, and most dogs, but not ours.
Emily H
=D
What kind of chickens do you have? We used to have chickens. :)
ServantOfTheKing
All different kinds! Everything from bantams (miniature chickens) to Jersey Giants, who will weigh up to 13 pounds!!!!
What kind of chickens did you have?
Matthew Minica
I'd join into this conversation, but y'all are way off topic. Is there a General Chat topic we could move to?? (If not, I'll make one.)
Emily H
We used to have a couple bantams! :) They were silver-seabrights (not sure if that's spelled right). We also had a couple Plymouth Rocks, a Rhode Island Red, some type that had feathers on it's feet, and a bunch of what my dad called "prairie chickens" (I don't think they were though:), which I guess were some kind of mixed breed. We had about 20 I think.
ServantOfTheKing
Sorry. What do you think of the Bible Bee book?
Emily H
Sorry. :)
Matthew Minica
That's okay.
Well, 1 John wasn't exactly what I expected… or let me phrase that another way; I thought 1 John was possible, but I was expecting James more. But, 1 John is a really good book! I was actually invited to do an off-season study on 1 John with some other Senior national qualifiers from last year, but I didn't get the email until they had already started. I bet everyone who did the study is happy!
ServantOfTheKing
Cool! I agree, it was not something I was expecting. But I'm positive that it was a good choice, and we'll learn a lot. If this is the local book, what do you think the National book will be? Yes, I guess everyone who did the study is really glad they did! I haven't really studied 1 John in-depth before. Have you?
Matthew Minica
What will the National book be? That's a good question. Did you know that the competition rulebook now says that an additional PASSAGE will be assigned for National qualifiers? That means it could technically be anything! I think I'll have to study 1 John a little bit before I guess the National passage.
No, I haven't studied 1 John before in-depth, although I have a good portion of it memorized already, including all of chapter 1.
EDIT: Well, I looked through all the General Chat Topics and didn't find one to fit your conversation, so I'm going to start a new Animals topic.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Yes - now I'm kind of wishing I would have joined them ;-)
K
Wow… I'm kind of surprised the book is 1 John… :P :D
Claire
I am glad it is first John as it is familiar, but not memorized. I was NIV last year, and had to switch to ESV. So at least I don't have to relearn this one :)
However, I am very disappointed in the BB cards this year. I think they should go back to the shiny, singular cards that actually look professional, instead of these cheap tear offs, that I ended up half ripping to shreds just trying to get them out of the book!
2 Corinthians 5:17
I know…I miss the cards like we have had the previous years :(
2 Corinthians 5:17
It is! Soooo many awesome scriptures in there!
Eunice Sophia
I'm curious after I learned that your sword study this year is on 1 John. Such a Wonderful book! I wish you all, very best in your study. :)
I did download that study for 1-3 weeks available online.
What do you mean by the type of literature? May I know?
2 Corinthians 5:17
What do you mean by the type of literature? May I know?
I'm not understanding your question….I'm sorry!
Jedidiah Diligence Breckinridge III
Meaning, is it poetry (Psalms)? or a gospel (Matthew)? or an epistle (letter such as Ephesians)?
BibleBeeJunior14 (~*Lady Ariana*~)
@Claire - I totally agree - what I ended up doing was once I finished memorizing a card, I colored the logo with colored pencils then put tape over it. I also have my cards on rings so I punched holes and put reinforcement circles on BEFORE I put the tape on. It's not the greatest but it's better than nothing! :)
@Eunice Sophia - I think they mean it is a letter.
Eunice Sophia
Sarah Eddy, I thought it might be some other types of literature I did not know. Thanks for clarifying and that’s kind of you.
BibleBeeJunior13, Yes understood. Thank you.

Ok. That's what I figured. :)
His Servant II (Bethany)
What did everyone pick as their key verses? I'm really struggling with day 5 of week 1, because of this…
Help would be appreciated.
Dance4Him
I did too. Goes to look for study
ServantOfTheKing
I picked a title first, and then found a key verse that fit it. It probably isn't the most correct answer, but it fits with my title! :) Maybe you could try that.
My key verses:
1 John 1:3
1 John 2:3
1 John 3:16
1 John 4:10
1 John 5:14
