Hi everyone! Even though you may not understand all the changes, I would just encourage you all to keep praying for everything surrounding Bible Bee. The Lord has used Bible Bee as a powerful tool for spiritual growth in the lives of so many young people over the past several years and the enemy certainly doesn't like the results. Rather, Satan delights in causing division and discord among believers.
Keep praying and seeking the Lord for direction!

Cooksey? No, what?
Oh, sorry! I was asking Esther if she knew if they were doing it since they're in her Bee.
M27
Amen! Bible Bee has truly changed my life. I have gone from seeing Scripture memory and study as a duty, to something that I have the privilege and joy of doing! I am sure that many others could give the same testimony. Even though we don't understand all of the changes, God is in control of all of this. Let's continue to pray for the staff, and for unity among all of those involved! No matter what, God will be glorified through all of this!

Oh, sorry. I don't know if they're doing it. I haven't talked to them since the changes.

Mrs. Davis wanted me to post this for her, since she isn't approved to post on the forums yet. :)
Everett said: "Apparently they can't use the Sword Studies for some unknown reason so they have to make their own study guide."
+Mrs Davis' reply+
Truth: SKF has full rights to the Sword Study in print or electronic form. They have CHOSEN to create their own study guide and discontinue use of the Sword Study.
This is Mrs. Davis from OR, popping in to demystify our family's God-led decision to part ways with our beloved Bible Bee. Our family discipleship ministry as hosts is built around the structure of the SS. We have never been a contest-focused group. We barely mentioned the contest in our weekly meetings & made it very clear that this component of BB was optional. (Yes, the contest was fun [really fun!], but in so many ways it actually hindered the goals of family discipleship for many of our participants.)
For this reason, we are opting to continue our flourishing local summer ministry to families through the 2015 Sword Study–written & ready for June 1st delivery just as we had planned. The only thing that changes for us is the contest. Games are fun, but we realized that this "carrot" was not such a driving force for the "WHY" we did BB after all.
Our heart is for the Lord, and following Him is our greatest desire. Our heart is for the families He has led to our fold, many of whom are growing through the phenomenal SS tool that has taught them what the Word says and how to dig out truth for themselves. (So many parents for the first time are leading their families in pursuit of the Lord through His Word!) Our heart is for our group's equipping to use what He has given us to make an impact for Christ and His Kingdom in our community and world.
We KNOW that the Sword Study accomplishes the desires He has put into our hearts. We KNOW that the Lord's fingerprints are all over this resource. This is not about doing or not doing BB; for us, this is all about following Him. The Lord is not so much concerned about WHAT we do. He is most concerned about the WHY. The WHY reveals the heart. The Lord desires our hearts.
"New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings."
Olivia just said last night, "You know, I keep thinking I should be sadder, but I am just so excited about this summer!"
Following HIM is always exciting! Eyes up, BB-ers! Cling to the Word you have so diligently memorized. Examine the Scriptures like good Bereans! And… if you're in Oregon this summer on a Tuesday, come check out Oregon Treehouse!
Psalm 1:1-3
How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.

Thanks for sharing that =)

Thank you! I'll be praying for you as you minister to the families in your area!

OK, here's how it's all going to work. We'll use the McMahan's Sword Studies and Musical CDs (available at wordinthefamily.org), and have a summer Bible Bee just like in the past. We're going to put together tests as well, and if you all would like to help, that would be great! Sometime in August we'll have the competition and give small prizes to the contestants.
Everett C.
Okay, thanks for clarifying. The way he said it made it sound like they weren't able to use the sword studies. That is unfortunate that your bee decided not to continue, but I do understand the reasons behind it.
M27
That sounds neat! My family is still planning to do Bible Bee at this point, so I'm not going to be able to help with that, but I may do the Sword Study once Bible Bee is over for the year.
Emma
The May 11 webinar has been put up on the website.

How are you guys planning on watching the game show? We don't have television.
Emma
I think you can stream it live from here. :)
Emma
The Study Guide will be on a book (as opposed to a topic). :)
Emily H
Yayyy, now he said the test is overall timed, not just timed per question. happiness
Everett C.
They just said that there will be a time limit for the whole test, not each question. whew!
Emma
Wow… three of us just posted on the same thing. (I deleted mine). :P
Emma
He sure knows us…. :P
Emily H
All too well… xP

That was my question xD

Hehehehe… XP
2 Corinthians 5:17
New t shirts! That means I'll get a different one (I've gotten the same one for the past 3 years xP ). I wonder if they'll look different…

Did they ever say if the test will be based solely on the Study Guide?
2 Corinthians 5:17
Yes, they said the test will be based on the info in the Study Guide and memory verses. :)
Hannah*
Okay, thank you! Was there any other new information? :)
2 Corinthians 5:17
Not much…Mr. Upton basically reviewed the changes again and answered people's questions :)
This is what I took notes of though:
-Questions on test will be consistent with previous years. (I guess that means they'll be about the same length.)
-Test will be timed overall, not per question. (whew!!)
-Test will flow out of the SG and memory verses.
-SG will be on a book or portion of a book, not on a topic or theme. (whew!)
-Memory verses and SG will be released week by week…they may release earlier if they have them ready.
-You should be refunded for any extra materials you purchased upon registration soon, as they won't be using them. (Like CD's, SS bookmarks, etc.)
-No Study Guide for Nationals
-And they hope the release the new rule-books soon. :)
My Savior Lives!
I agree with you on the "whews." :P
I am glad that they are sort of sticking to the past years test format, but I am a bit disappointed with the online books. :(
Thanks for sharing this, I never make it to the webinars. :P
2 Corinthians 5:17
Hehe! :D
Yes… I greatly loved the Sword Study format and the written test :) I just hope the fact that I won't be able to work ahead won't mess me up! :(
You said you've never qualified, correct? Where did you place last year? :)
M27
Does anyone else think that we will be studying a passage for Nationals?!

Possibly! What makes you say that? :)

Well, I don't remember everything but Mr. Upton sort of corrected a statement he had made. He had said that we were definitely studying a book for locals; when he corrected himself he said something like that we might study a passage/few chapters for Nationals. I'm thinking that might means will, but I could be very wrong about that :). Oh, and you could hear Mr. Upton smiling when he said it :).

Yesss…I noticed that. XD That was my question, actually. And when he corrected himself and started talking about how he knows we're trying to figure out the study book+passage, and shook my head and laughingly told my Mom: "He knows us alllll too well." XDDD
M27
Haha! I think that he's gotten a really good feel for the Bible Bee families, especially since he has been on staff for less than two months.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Maybe so. XD

Ooooopssss! Yes! Thank you for correcting me! XD

I was about 160, so fairly close! I kind of petered out toward the end of the summer (shame on me) so I may have been even closer if I had studied a bit more…. :)

So…I don't understand. I know David went on to SA, but he was one of the lower scores. Did I miss something?
Emily H
If you don't know, I probably shouldn't tell you. xP Beside there was still the producer's pick thing. ;)
2 Corinthians 5:17
Grrr…okay. :( :P The producer's pick? is confused… xP x)

The first episode was awesome!!!! :D
Completely missed it. :'(
Idk why, it just said, "Streaming Offline, Please try again later" for the last half an hour. WHY ME? starts crying
Whatever, there's always Saturday. Have to try to figure out why it didn't work before then. :/
Emily H
I don't know, what did he say at the end, something about the wildcard producer's (or someone) pick…where the top two would advance and then there would be someone else picked. ;)
Emily H
Aw, I'm sorry Febah. :( I hope you get it to work on Saturday… :(
2 Corinthians 5:17
Ah, I see. I didn't understand that wildcard thing. :P
