Nationals Choir
Started by Matthew MinicaCourtney M.
Alto. I might be able to sing soprano, but I have trouble hitting higher notes. :-/ Plus, I think they need altos more than they need sopranos! xD
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Depends on how good you are at sightreading. If only I were doing it, I wouldn't practice at all, but our whole family does it, so we'd probably practice a couple times.

That's what I'm thinking…IDK though xD
Courtney M.
Well, it seems like people like to sing soprano better so…I think there's less altos. But I'm an alto anyway, so it doesn't matter that much. ;)
DesireChrist
Okay :)
So how much time away from BB would doing the choir take? Cause I'd like to, but then IDK if I will because I need to study…
Courtney M.
Well, I don't think it would need to take very much time. If you can read music without too much of a problem, then even less. Maybe if you just practiced it a few times before Nationals time, then in the car on the way there, that might work. We didn't even do that much last year (though I didn't end up actually singing)! I know how you feel though…
2 Corinthians 5:17
Yes, I can read music pretty well, so I don't think I'd have a problem sight reading it. I might do it, we'll see =) It would be fun :D
Joanne
Leah would like to be in the choir again this year, but she is in China now. Does anyone know if Rosie Alexander made it to Nationals. When will the sign up for the choir be?
DesireChrist
Yes, Rosie Alexander qualified :) And I don't know when the sign up for choir will be…sorry!
Joanne
Thank you, do you know if her siblings made it, and if they will be going to Nationals?
2 Corinthians 5:17
Yes, her siblings Christian, Nicolas, and Titus qualified and they are going. =)
Courtney M.
Okay. I would like it if you did it! :D
2 Corinthians 5:17
I'll consider it =D If I do then maybe I'll sing alto and we can stand next to each other xD
Courtney M.
Yeah! That would be great! (: How tall are you? I think they usually do it by height.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Okay =) I'm about 5' 5" :)
Courtney M.
Mmm…maybe it'll be close enough. I'm about 5' 7 1/2''.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Haha =D Wow, you're tall! ;-)
i still haven't decided if I will yet or not…you have to take a video of yourself, right? :P
Courtney M.
It runs in the family. ;) My dad is 6' 2'', and my mom is 5' 8''. One of my dad's brothers is taller than he is, and my grandpa on my mom's side is, or used to be anyways. Aaannnd Matthew's tall. xP
You did last year…it was kind of fun, though. :P You know, for the three oldest to be staying up late and taking videos of each other and laughing… :)
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
No, sing soprano! :)
Courtney M.
Why? You're probably not doing it anyways!
Hannah W. (Adelaide)
When are details and auditions? Hoping me and my sister can do it again this year…it was really fun :)!
Matthew Minica
We probably won't know until they start sending us info…
Esther Grace
Actually, I don't think they'll have the choir and ensemble this year. Last week Mr. Holt, the orchestra conductor (I believe - I haven't done the ensemble, I only know him from our bee), said it was every other year. Sorry, guys.
Everett C.
Yeah, maybe… I didn't see any rehearsals on the schedule.
Emma
Awwwww, I was looking toward to doing it!
Emily H
(Yes, he was the orchestra conductor last year :)

Really? They did the choir for the past three years straight, although orchestra was only in 2011 and 2013.
Esther Grace
Hm. Maybe it's just the orchestra. What did they do in 2012 to accompany the choir?
Evie, Child of Grace

They just had a couple of violins, a cello, and the piano.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
They had a full string quartet.
Christianna Elise Hellwig
It was a disappointment to me to find out that there isn't going to be any choir this year, I was anticipating it more than the competition!
Does anyone else share my letdown? I have never gotten to sing in a big choir with lots of people where I'm not the loudest singer; I was so hoping that this would be my chance - Ah, well!
Emma
I'm disappointed too… ^even though I only played piano last year, and wasn't part of the choir :P^
Emily H
Yes, I was kind of disappointed as well. The choir was really fun in previous years, and I'd always learn new stuff about music. The only thing I was sort of happy about was that choir practice wouldn't be taking up so many hours of the precious few we had at Nationals.
Emma
Yeah, it will give us more time!
Christianna Elise Hellwig
I guess to me, the time doesn't bother me a bit! In fact if I had the chance, suddenly, to be part of really good Christian choir instead of going to nationals I'd take it in a heart beat! But That is completely besides the point!
Emily H
You must really enjoy music then! =D So you sing, and I'm guessing you play violin?

……..You have never been to nats then…… :P
Matthew Minica
........You have never been to nats then...... :P
^^^^^^ What I was thinking. :P And I love music as much as anybody.

........You have never been to nats then...... :P^^^^^^ What I was thinking. :P And I love music as much as anybody.
As we all know. :P I would say the same thing…but I think some people would disagree… :P
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
That would be a really hard decision for me….

Wait…they're really not doing a choir this year?!?! That's disappointing. :( I wonder why they're not doing it?
Everett C.
Yeah… They said on the Webinar that Mr. Kenniv (the director) wanted to take a break or something.
biblebee
That would be a really hard decision for me....
………….Have you been to nationals…….????? JK…sorta…
Seth W.
As someone who has both been to Nats and is actively involved in music (especially choral), I can say it would be a tough decision for me…but I would probably end up choosing Nats because there are always opportunities to be involved in choirs, but for Nats you kind of have to go for it while you still have a chance. :/ But if it was a 'one-or-the-other' situation with a really good choir then that would be a hard choice.

See, Carissa, you (and Matthew, and I, etc.) just don't have the "passion" for music that others do. =P

There ya go! That works! facedesk

Courtney M.
Well, if you had a passion for music (let me specify that to choral music), then you would care. Right?
