Funny that you should start it today…just yesterday I had my first major mess up in the kitchen :) I was making brownies (from the box)…nothing you can mess up there, right? Well I put the mix in a bowl, poured the water, eggs and oil in and started stirring. All the while talking to David. Then I looked at the batter and realized that it was WAY too watery!! I realized that instead of putting in 2/3 cup of oil I put in gulp 1 1/2 cup of oil! :-

One time I was making cookies…You can't really mess THOSE up right? Well, I was just going on normally! An hour later I got the warm beautiful cookies out of the oven! YUM! We had some friends over that night and they couldn't wait to eat my cookies :)!! Well for desert that night we all took a BIG bite out of the cookies and to my horror I had made the ever so classic mistake…..I switched out the sugar for SALT! TALK ABOUT EMBARRASSING!!!!!!!!!! :(!!!!!! We had Ice cream instead :) that made me feel better :)!

Awww, that is SO sad!!!! :P (lol!)

@Carissa, your FIRST!?? Wow, you're awesome :P :D I've done some pretty dumb kitchen things….what I can think of right now is, well, we have one of those KitchenAid mixer thingies, and I think we were making cookies. And right after I put the flour in, I accidentally knocked the mix speed to 10 (the highest it goes)…yeah, needless to say….flour exploded everywhere. And then another time I was trying to make boxed cake, and I was looking at the wrong recipe (there was a recipe on the bottom for something weird that called for sour cream and I don't know what else :P thankfully I didn't put sour cream in it, because we didn't have any :P) and my mom had to come rescue me. :P

Is this where I say: when I was little making toast for the family, I needed more butter, so I looked, and there wasn't any accept what was in the freezer, so I took the 1pound block of foil covered butter, and put it into the microwave, thinking that it was the way I had seen before, after a little while, the foil started sparking and a sputtering blue flame ignited on the corner of the butter. After extinguishing it (not with a fire extinguisher, I think I just blew it out) and cutting of the charred part I finished making the toast but the rest of the butter tasted kinda funny. Afterwards I was informed that the butter can be thawed in the microwave when it is in waxpaper, but never foil.

Yeah…. :) It's cause I am always SOOOO careful to make sure none of that happens….like reading the recipe over 7-10 times before doing anything :)

You're very lucky MCS. From what I heard if you put tin foil or any type of metal in the microwave it will explode! I'm not sure if this is true because I have never tried it, but I don't want to try it after hearing that. :P

Okay, I thought of something I did in the kitchen =D
Not too long ago, I was hungry, so I decided to toast me a bagel. We don't have a toaster, so we have to use the broiler in the oven. That being the case, you need to keep a close eye on whatever you're toasting, or you'll have…burnt toast! :D
Well, I put my bagel in the oven, and, then, had to go away. I forgot all about my bagel, until someone said "What's burning??" I ran to the oven and…oops. Black.
So I decided to start over again! I put another bagel in the oven, and, guess what? Same story! I had to go do something, and completely forgot about my bagel…."Something's burning again!!" Yup….black again.
So by this time, I was pretty upset, not to mention still hungry. I decided to try once again and, I was successful!! =D I made myself stay in the kitchen, and got to finally enjoy my bagel! =D :P

One time a couple years ago, my brother out some toast in the toaster right before we sat down to eat. My chair faces the toaster, but his doesn't. Now, I knew I was supposed to close my eyes for the prayer, but they wouldn't stay closed (divine intervention?). Anyway, right as we started to pray, I saw a flame lick around the edges of the toast…and yeah, I yelled. And no, I didn't get in trouble for having my eyes open that time.

One time the broiler burner of our oven was burnt out, and we didn't have anything to do the toasted cheese bread that I was making for supper, so I got out the heat gun (its like a hair dryer in the way it works and is used for stripping paint etc.), and used that, the cheese bread turned out okay too. The broiler in the oven or a toaster oven (one with horizontal racks) would have worked better though.

Here's a tip for banana bread! :D Put chocolate chips in your batter, and then bake it!!! Ah, SOOO good!!!
Also, after greasing your pans, coat them in cinnamon and sugar mix - YUMMY!
