Wretched Man

I'm still not sure I'm completely understanding all this, but there's

Always hope; and
Maybe with some time, I'll grasp it.

So,
Are you saying that I could
Really
Construct my own thoughts in an
Acrostically alphabetical manner
So as
To convey them
In ways that people
Can understand them poetically?

I still just don't think I can
Grasp such a concept,
Nor do I have the talents necessary to
Obtain the lofty levels that others
Regularly
Exhibit here on MemVerse.

Maybe it would be better if I just
Exited this topic??

God's Maiden of Virtue

Here is an acrostic poem I wrote for school when I was nine.

The Rose
Roses, so lovely,
On that shining green stem,
Something to gaze at, so
Elegant and tall.

Has anyone heard of a sense poem? It's a poem that describes a certain thing in senses. Here's an example of one; I wrote it when I was ten.

Picnics
Smells like crispy fresh air
Sounds like birds chirping
Feels like a hot summer day
Tastes like jelly sandwitches, big apples and cookies
Looks like kids playing

So this sense poem would be describing picnics.

A Hymn I wrote a few days ago:
(For the music people, the meter number is C.M.D.)

O Lord of armies, O our God:
Look on the sinner's host.
O Lord unsheath thy two edged sword;
Of which thou well may'st boast.
Bring them to see repentance sweet,
Enlivened to your love;
And by thine all-sufficient grace,
Brought to thy rest above.

O Lord of armies, O our God:
The strength of thy right hand
Is boundless, matchless, infinite
Sweeping over the land.
It plucks up sinners of all tongues,
And folds them to the fold;
It purges them to sanctify,
And molds them to his mold.

O Lord of armies, O our God:
Lead us to victory;
Command us in our battles, Lord,
In earth and sky and sea.
Teach us to hold the banner high:
'God's love' this banner reads
And make us to proclaim with joy
The word this world needs.

O Lord of armies, O our God:
Gather the host in heav'n
When all are killed and raised to life;
How long, how long? Lord, when?
When all you sheep have come to you
The wolves you will destroy,
But in your kingdom reigneth peace
And everlasting joy!

Ha! Cute. I might come up with something myself later.

Talia "StoryMaker"

I wrote a poem called "Enough". The rhymes and rhythm are..not too good sometimes, to say the least…but I hope you'll be able to deal with that.

Who is God?

God is God.

God is perfect, holy, great and true.

He watches over all we do.

He is loving, kind, and gracious – He's good.

His justice and wrath cannot be withstood,

In his character no fault can be found.

No matter what happens, he's always around.

God is perfect, holy, great and true.

He watches over me and you.

What is enough?

This question, yes, is rather tough.

To satisfy a holy God – what can be enough?

God is so wonderful. God is so great.

In His hands he controls each life's fate.

How can we satisfy God?

The very question seems rather odd -

For though we may think we're nice and fine,

How do we compare in light of the Divine?

Our hearts seem not dark compared to others;

We may seem good compared to our brothers.

But God is not us. When his light shines 'pon our souls,

We should rightfully feel like prideful fools.

For in light of pure goodness, sublime, sweet,

We soon realize clearly, “Our own goodness is beat!”

Pride. Lies. Greed. Selfish nature.

Surely these things are found in every creature!

What is enough?

Should we just try to “be good”?

Should we all just try to do what we should?

Don't we know that all men are slaves to sin -

To selfish desires that lie deep within?

When we try to do what's right,

And think we live in the light,

We simply must start

By looking at our own heart,

And if we are honest then we will know

And our view of ourselves will be very low

For even as we try to be nice

We're secretly motivated by pride and vice.

Our “good” hearts are never fully pure -

Of this I am fully sure!

What is enough? Good efforts? Good deeds?

Is it enough to care for others' needs?

But if we are honest, you know what I see?

We really just want to feel good inside.

We are honestly filled with all kinds of pride.

Though we attempt, we fail even as we try.

In all honestly, all of us deserve to die.

What is enough? What can be reckoning

For all of our sins against the Good King?

For do we not see that every time we sin -

Whenever we're selfish or feel pride within -

We're not just sinning against man on this earth,

We sin against GOD, and he has infinite worth.

For God's GOODNESS is eternal and deeper than a million seas.

It stretches far higher than the tallest of all trees.

Every dark blemish and sinful word, deed or thought

Does God overlook these? Clearly, he does NOT!

For while we can't see how bad we are within,

God clearly sees our dark, evil, hideous sin.

What is enough punishment for our evil?

Should God treat any man in a manner that's civil?

The answer is NO! There's simply no way.

An infinite price's what we have to pay!

We can NEVER pay this back, but must pay forever!

Though we think we're nice and we think we're clever,

God sees that we are dark; not pure at all.

The pun’shment for this simply can’t be small.

What is enough? Do the math:

How can you satisfy infinite wrath?

No finite sum could ever do.

Infinite satisfaction is all that will do.

Across the heavens, can you find one

Who can pay in full an infinite sum?

There is only ONE answer. The answer is God.

And though it may seem rather odd,

In order to pay an infinite price,

The payment must be inf’nite. I won’t say it twice!

Let me tell you something funny,

Something strange, something uncanny.

Though no mortal man deserves the love of God,

Let me tell you something that’s very odd.

He shows great love to a great group of men -

He had a plan to redeem them before time began.

His plan was to offer payment for their debt of sin -

He would show them no wrath, for He’d cleanse them within.

But as prev’ously stated, the price has no measure.

So let me tell you, it was God’s good pleasure

To send His own Son - who was God, like Himself -

To become a man and bring us spir’tual health.

How He did accomplish this? He gave himself up!

The Son of God drank the bitt’rest cup -

The cup of wrath against the sin of man.

He was nailed to a cross - this was God’s plan.

His own Father turned His own face away.

And in a tomb, the Son of God did lay.

He was God and he was man;

Yet unlike us, He had no sin.

Yet for men He suffered, for men He died,

So that the wrath of God against them might be fully satisfied.

And on the third day, let me tell you what occurred -

Jesus Christ, God’s Son, murdered -

Who faced the pun’shment of His very own Father -

All for the reason He was His people’s lover -

The event was too great, the event was too grand

To be anything but the moving of God Himself’s hand.

He rose from the grave! He TRIUMPHED over death!

Because He had new life, His people are born again!

All who would believe and all who’d receive -

The burden of hellboundness would be instantly relieved!

His Spirit indwells and transforms His belov’d.

What a wond’rous gift! What grace from above!

Let me tell you, this gift - from God, from above -

Let me tell you: His grace is enough.

Man! I used to write poems…….about a year ago!

Here they are (There's quite a few!):

A MISSIONARY JOURNEY

Yes, I was preaching one day,
I was giving my say,
Telling how God had used me,
Telling about my journey.

God desires to mold us,
Like we mold a clay bus,
Or a play dough princess
Mold us into His kindness.

Any one brought near to Him,
Like Tom or Bob or Tim,
Are His “glory crown”.
It’s okay to preach in town.

I did preach in Michigan,
I made a friend named Stan,
Who has a wife named Nan,
Who has a nice, pretty tan.

I could teach them about Christ.
“I do have them enticed”,
That is what I did say,
When I was thinking one day,

While waiting for God’s next call,
I gazed down my own hall,
Waiting for God to speak.
Now staring at a bird’s beak.

God glances at Michigan,
And says “go visit Stan”,
Speak to his wife named Nan,
Who has a nice, pretty tan.

So I grab my overcoat,
And pack up my blue tote,
Then I climb into my car,
Getting ready to go far.

Noticed while starting my car,
My ole bucket of tar,
Banging down my stone driveway,
I ran to kick it away.

But kicked off my shoe instead,
It fell on my cat, Ted.
I ran for my tennis shoe,
My cat came screeching too.

I raced to my ole bucket,
Fixed it then fixed my debt,
And this was to cuddle Ted,
Happy that he wasn’t dead.

Now that I retraced my mind,
My seatbelt I need find,
When I found my steering wheel,
I did make with Ted a deal.

To always take him with me,
And then Ted purred with glee.
Then we went to Michigan,
To go visit Dan and Nan.

EXPLORING NATURE

Tick tick and tock, the clock struck eight,
So we must now get up.
We should explore some handy work,
Toads frogs going gur-rup.

It is time to eat breakfast now,
And then we brush our teeth.
We need to do it thoroughly!
I’m ready, tie your shoes.

Because all of our shoes are on.
We can go see some cats,
A mountain lion, it is not,
Though we might see wombats.

Now I do know where we should go,
The vegetable garden.
There is really some tomato
Vines numbered one through ten!

Its time to stop for sev’ral snacks,
Two snacks for each of us,
And since that’s done, we must go back,
By the way, I am Russ,

And I am proud to be a Tim,
Who loves The Great Mighty
God of heaven and do love him.
“Yes, I do love him—see?”

“Can I believe what I do hear?
Have I really heard right?
Is your relationship so tight?
Am I right? Is it tight?”

“Yes, it really, really is.”
“Then you definitely
Know our real home is in heaven.
Means you’re my brother, see?”

“Since nighttime really close,
Did you really like it?
Like exploring God’s creation?”
“I liked it. The whole bit.”

“But I really have to go,
But maybe tomorrow,
Again we can explore creation.
Now bye! And don’t say hi!”

I KNOW YOU'LL JUST LOVE HEAVEN

Heaven’s a place of singing,
Where all the bells are ringing.
I know you’ll just love heaven,
It’s got room for o’er seven.

Just please let me describe it:
Heaven’s really the best hit,
Yes, you’ll really love Heaven,
With room for more than seven.

And before the Lord we’ll kneel,
Before Him with lots of zeal,
I know you’ll just love Heaven,
With room for more than seven.

It’s values’ o’er golden pearls,
It’s for all the boys and girls—
I know you’ll just love Heaven,
With room for more than seven.

And it’s for women and men,
Not just for Joann and Ben,
I know you’ll just love Heaven,
With room for more than seven.

In Heaven they’ll be with God
Were they need not plow the sod.
I know you’ll just love Heaven,
With room for more than seven.

In Heav’n you’ll meet face to face,
The Great Lord who loves our race.
I know you will love Heaven,
There’s room for more than seven.

I think Heaven is super,
Like, “It is super duper,”
You just gotta love Heaven.
With room for more than seven.

JESUS IS COMING BACK ONE DAY

Jesus is coming back one day,
To give ev’ryone his own pay.
He’s gonna judge the world by fire
And all his angels he will hire.

These tribulation times are hard,
So, my brethren, be on your guard.
Hundred forty-four K. faithful,
From the world so crowded and full,

Come and be one of the thousands,
From the earth that has the white sands.
Oh and the trees! And the beaches!
Add the plums! And add the peaches!

Oh, come you people and repent!
And enter God’s heavenly tent!
Benny, Harry, Tammy and Todd-
Come repent! Turn your lives to God!

He’ll return with a trumpet sound,
And all the nations will fall to the ground.
None will ask, “What is this about?”
When they hear God’s glorious shout,

And the dead in Christ will rise first.
And in Heaven no one will thirst.
The souls in Hell will have great pain,
But in Heaven there is great gain.

He’ll thrash all the alters of Baal,
Ev’ryone will hear this good tale.
“The God Almighty is our God”,
Says a fellow Christian named Todd.

Behold of the loud trumpet call,
That will make all the nations fall.
Be aware of His mighty shout,
That surprises many a scout.

Returning one glorious day,
My Lord Jesus to give His say.
Oh, ye nations, come and repent!
Enter in God’s heavenly tent.

He’ll come once again like a thief,
Then to fools there is no relief.
God is the One and only One,
And the victory He has won.

I am out of time - I can post more later.

Emma

I have about a hundred, so I won't post them in one day. I think I'll put four:

GOD MADE NATURE

God made the grass, the sky, the seas,
He also made the fruit and trees,
He, in the Spring, makes flowers bloom,
Hear the birds chirp, you'll have no gloom.

HANNAH (my name)

How come the Lord has called me
And loved me though I do
Not deserve it, while all around others will
Never hear or read of the truth.
Amazing grace!
How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me!

Here is an acrostic poem written by Isaac Watts when he was seven years old:

I am a vile, polluted lump of earth,
So I have continued ever since my birth.
Although Jehovah grace does daily give me,
Assure this monster, Satan, will deceive me;
Come therefore, Lord, from Satan's claws relieve me.

Wash me in thy blood, O Christ,
And grace divine impart;
Then search and try the corners of my heart
That I in all things may be fit to do
Service to Thee and to sing Thy praises, too.

LOVE

Love is kind, caring, and thoughtful,
Love suffers long.
Love cares for you when you are sick.
Love sings you a song.
Love enjoys giving better than receiving,
Love is always in a true kiss or hug.
Love is a mother embracing her newborn.
True friends always have Love.
Oh, Love, that kind, caring, fruit of the Spirit,
I want to have Love.

Wow. It would take a long time to read all these… hopefully I can find some time.
Here's my versification of Psalm 67: (8.8.8.8.8.8.)

May God give unto us his grace,
And may he in this grace bless us.
May he look down and show his face,
That it's sweet rays may shine on us.
That in earth thy way may be known:
Thy saving pow'r to nations shown!

O God, let the peoples praise thee;
Let them be glad and sing for joy;
For you judge them with equity,
And guide the nations of the earth.
Let the peoples praise thee, O God;
And to the Lord let them sing laud!

The earth has yielded its increase
It offers up its praise to God.
Our awesome Lord meager gifts please;
He'll bless to us our every need.
Just so it is assuredly;
May all the ends of the earth fear thee!

OK, this is one of the only poems I've ever written, and it doesn't rhyme, but I hope I can write a bunch of other poems someday. :) This is an acrostic of my name.

Before the world began,
'Ere He had formed the stars,
The God of all creation
Had made His plan for me.
And I'll serve Him as long as I live here,
Never fearing what harm man can do.
You, O Lord, are my King and my Rock.

@ RABM: I like that!

Here's a song I made when I was 4 or 5 (Sorry that it doesn't rhyme.(The way the tune goes, it has to be spelled la-and, just so ya know.)):

Praise and bow to the Lord,
Praise and bow to the Lord,
Praise and bow to the Lord,
All ye la-ands.

Sing and bow the Lord,
Sing and bow the Lord,
Sing and bow the Lord,
All ye la-ands.

Serve and bow to the Lord,
Serve and bow to the Lord,
Serve and bow to the Lord,
All ye la-ands.

Worship Emmanuel,
Worship Emmanuel,
Worship Emmanuel,
All ye la-ands.

@ Rosie: A sense poem? Cool! Let me try it:

Playing Outside
Hear the wind whistling,
Feel the grass underneath your feet,
See what God created
Taste a bit of the Garden of Eden
Smell the flowers.

There! How did I do?

Here is a poem I wrote for my little 4-year-old sister:

You have been a joy to me,
Now I want to be a joy, you see,
I want to be a joy to you,
I want to be kind and thoughtful, too.

Nice sense poem! You did a good job.

Here's a haiku I wrote when I was nine.

The Dew
The dew on the leaf,
was clear like glass, but when the
sun shines, it dries up.

Here are some poems I wrote a few years ago:

The Squirrel Crossed the Street
(This is a poem making big of a simple occurrence in nature)

The squirrel sat in meditation deep,
As a car roared by beneath his feet.
“Is the risk too great, and the danger too large,
For a being small as I?”

The road was clear, but alas was not
The mind of our dear friend,
A mighty battle ‘twixt fear and desire
Raged fierce within his soul.

“The nuts upon the other side
Methinks are sweeter still,
Than those with which I feed myself
This day within this tree.”

At last the will of Squirrel won,
His fear lay vanquished in the dust,
As boldly ran he down the tree,
And paused before his rush.

The crossing of that awful street,
Near more than he could bear,
Was waxing long as timidly,
He took each step right there.

An awful roar came at poor Squirrel.
He leapt in fierce fear,
And made the steps that lay between
Rapidly disappear.

At last the curb that marked the end,
Of Squirrels crossing came,
And gladly stepped he onto it,
While quiet the roar became.

Here's one about hunting:

Hunting

There is cold so bitter,
There is wind like a knife;
But steeling my nerves,
Strengthening my bones,
Warming my feet,
Reviving my toes,
Is the thought, the suspicion,
That the crackling stick,
The rustling leaf,
The distant shot,
With accompanying roar,
May be or may bring my prey.

There is always the still,
There is also the wait;
But it makes me feel,
Amid my bones,
Betwixt my fingers,
Within my brain,
That just over the hill,
So silent still,
Most necessarily will,
Be that for which I wait.

And this one some of you may have seen before on the blog:

The Leper’s Cry

With mournful cry and falt’ring step,
The leper comes still nearer.
His voice is harsh, yet loud and clear:
“Unclean, unclean, unclean.”

The rags about him, stained and soiled,
By contrast show the scaly blight,
That eats away through day and night.
“Unclean, unclean, unclean.”

Though obscured by mangy locks of hair,
There in his eyes see desperation;
And ever hear his salutation:
“Unclean, unclean, unclean.”

He longs for love, but it will never be,
Except it come from such as he,
For at his cry all men do flee:
“Unclean, unclean, unclean.”

Behold, as the crowd melts away,
-Yielding to the leper’s advance-
One figure remains, in upright stance;
His eye is all compassion.

Now hear the leper’s voice cry out,
“Save me, if thou wilt, O Lord,”
Christ’s answer also now please heed:
“Be clean, be clean, be clean.”

The leper – who’s leper no more,
Till death doth shut his mouth,
Will ever and always praise the Christ:
The King, who’s King, indeed!

Here's another one:

It Was My Sin

It was my sin that hung Him there,
It was my hand that plucked His hair,
It was my tongue that lashed Him there,
It was my foot that kicked Him,
It was my fist that struck Him,
It was my voice that mocked Him,
It was my sin that killed Him,
On the cross.

And yet His death was not in vain,
The Grave and Death worked all in vain,
Defeating them He rose again,
To save the one that kicked Him,
To save the one that struck Him,
To save the one that mocked Him,
To save the one that killed Him,
On the cross.

In this is shown the Grace of God:
This sinner now by faith new-shod,
Who once did strike Him with a rod,
Will praise the One who saved him,
Will praise Him who forgave him,
Will praise the God who loves him,
Will praise the One who died for him,
On the cross.

@ Rosie: Thank you!

@ OCTSRIS: Why don't you post some of your hymns? They're really good!

@ Octo II: Nice poems!

@ All: Here's some poems:

I am Guilty
O Lord, I am guilty and full of sin,
Trapped in Satan's mighty hands,
But your hands are stronger so make me pure within,
And take me to heaven, the best of any lands.
Jesus is knocking at the door of my heart,
To give me that grace so good,
O, that precious grace impart,
I'll open that door for him; I know I should.

Preparing for Battle!
I might have a spear, I might have a sword,
But the strongest thing of all
Is God's Holy Word.
I might have a shield, I might have a gun,
But the best thing to have
Is the grace of his Son.
Put on the full armor of God,
That you may be prepared for the battle abroad.

I have a question: Why is our July 4th song "My Country, 'Tis of Thee"? Isn't it our Savior that gives us freedom? Hope you enjoy this hymn.

My Saviour, 'tis of Thee;
Sweet giver of liberty;
Of Thee I sing.
Because Thou, Son, hast died,
Thou art now all my pride.
From ev'ry mountain side
Let Thy praise ring!

My native sin Thou hast
Removed from me at last!
Thy name I love!
I love Thy sovereign will;
Thy church and Zion's hill;
I love Thy gracious thrills
Given from above.

Let Thy praise everywhere
Ring sweetly thru the air;
Thy worship's song.
Let faithless tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let us our silence break;
His praise prolong!

O, Father God, to Thee,
Author of liberty;
To Thee we sing.
Long may our hearts be bright
With the Spirit's holy light.
Save us all by Thy might,
Great God our King!

@Sir Wretched~ I think you should try writing hymns. Knowing you, I think you'd be good at it. (I just stick with altering, adding, and "psalmatizing".)

By the way, some good tunes for ISC's hymn would be ST MATTHEW, ELLECOMBE, ALL SAINTS NEW, or VOX DILECTI.

Matthew Minica

I wrote a hymn a couple weeks ago, titled "What Do I Need, Save My Jesus?" Here it is.

What do I need, save my Jesus?
He gives me all I require.
In all my plights I will trust Him,
Look to Him in crises dire.
What do I lack when He’s with me?
Everything He will provide.
He is my Rock my Strong Tower,
In Him, my Strength, I’ll confide.

What do I need, save my Jesus?
He is to me daily Bread.
All of my thirsting He quenches,
Ensures I am ever fed.
As the deer pants for the water,
So longs my soul for the Lord.
He is the Bread true and living,
I daily feast on His word.

What do I need, save my Jesus?-
This truth I know in my heart:
He gives me hope and a future,
From me He’ll never depart.
I must now ask this one question,
What is my truest desire?
Is it the Lord, or one worldly?
Does He set my heart on fire?

I have written other songs more in the style of praise & worship. This is my first hymn.

@ OCTSRIS: I LOVE that!

Here's a poem I wrote yesterday:

God is love.
God is just.
God is my Savior;
In him I trust.
God is just.
God is love.
When I die, I'll go
To him above.
When I stand before the judgment seat,
I'll cast my trophies at his feet.

Here's a haiku poem I wrote:
God does love me, this
I do know, for his word tells
me so. God loves me.

Here's an acrostic poem I wrote:

Taste crackers that you're feeding to toddlers,
Smell lotion and air freshener.

Here's a paraphrase of Psalm 2. The metrical code is 8.8.8.8.8.8. Any key works, as long as it's in a minor key.

Why do the peoples, deep in thought,
Vainly devise an evil plot?
Against the LORD Who is God and
His anointed they take their stand.
“Let us fling off His chains,” they say,
“And cast these weak fetters away!”

The One enthroned in Heaven laughs;
At their stupidity He scoffs,
Then roars rebukes forth loud and sharp;
In fury horrifies their hearts:
“On Zion, My hill,” declares He,
“I have installed My King holy!”

I will proclaim the LORD's decree:
“Thou hast become My son,” said He.
“Ask of me and thou shalt posses
Earth's many nations, east and west;
With iron sceptre rule kings and queens;
Like clay dash some to smithereens!”

Therefore, O rulers, as you laud,
Be cautious servants of your God.
Lest His hot anger should rise, kiss
God's blessed Son with trembling lips.
All those are blest forevermore
Who take refuge in God the LORD.

Thank you guys so much for the warm welcome!

@Matthew Minica~ May I please have permission to use write a tune for your hymn and make a score? And is the hymn copyrighted? (All you have to do is say it is, legally.) If I figure out how to post a link to the PDF, I'll do that so you can access it.

@What'sYerName–Nice haiku. And how true… :)

@OCTSRIS–fires missile and drops nuclear bomb :P

EDIT–Okay, okay, I'll stop with the weapons.

EDITEDEDIT–I'll be trying to come up with an acrostic for my name. Of course, it won't be very good, since I dislike poetry, but hey, at least I'll have tried. ;)

Here's an acrostic I spend more than 20 minutes on:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
O, Jesus save my soul!
Never let me stray!
Calm the tempting waters' roll
Help me trust Thee every day.
Raging are the storms;
I wait for Thee with patience.
Swirling are the swarms
Trailing 'round me with temptations.
Thou art my only Hope;
Hold my hand always in Thine.
Even though my head dost droop,
Sweetly I make Thy will mine.
O, the dangers and the fears
Lurking in the dark night!
I gaze to Thee though my tears
Daily struggling in this fight.
Ready I am to go;
O, Lord, to be with Thee.
Come Thou wilt soon, I know,
King of rich mercy.
I on this earth do hope,
Sighing as I long for Thee.
Trusting Thee to help me cope
Always with the tossing sea.
Never Lord, wilt sin beset me;
Deignest Thou never to forget me.
Haha!
@ SBG: You don't have to make it rhyme, or you don't even have to do it!
Okay, I think people should stop talkin' about wars and do what you're supposed to do on here – write poems! Here's a poem I thought of for my little baby sister when I was holding her:
Rock-a-by-Baby, the cradle is me,
You are in my arms, I'll rock to sleep Thee.
Here's a poem I made up for memorial day (sorry that it doesn't rhyme very well but…):
Hurrah for the USA!
Our veterans served to make our country free,
Now that it's free, we honor them by giving them a day.
It's called Memorial Day! Hip, Hip, Hooray! Hip, Hip, Hooray! YAY!
Hooray for the USA! Hooray for the USA! Hooray for the USA! Hooray for the USA! Hooray for the USA! Hooray for the USA!
(Then keep repeating the whole song over and over till your voice gets hoarse.) =D
Oh, how right are your words,
Beneficent Helper of Mom,
To speak in plain and unadorned words,
Is not the point of this page.
And war, that dreadful, terrible, war,
Is above all the most to be shunned,
By those who wish in poems to speak,
And in riddles perplexing relate.
I must, in excess of humility,
Prostrate before thee fall,
And beg forgiveness from thy lips,
For speaking not in rhyme.
Please please, I beg thee,
Grant that I,
Octobot and whatnot,
May be pleased to hear those gracious words,
"Forgiven, miscreant. Now rise,
And speak in poems and riddles of speech,
As the name of this forum does state."
Was that a good enough apology, Mommy's Helper?
@Sparkly: Actually, your "haiku" is not a haiku because it does not have the proper meter.
Here's a poem I wrote yesterday:
The Golden House
Rome burned under Nero
In A.D. 64,
But God will burn the world,
When he cometh forth to war.
Nero built a palace,
The Golden House 'twas called,
Built upon Rome's smould'ring wreck,
While men looked on, appalled.
God will build a new earth -
A golden house indeed!
The bride, the church see with love
Decidedly agreed!
Nero said that Christians
Had set the fire ablaze;
He burned them in his gardens,
While to God they offered praise.
God would have but for sin,
Spared earth assuredly;
He burns sinners e'er in hell,
In torment eternally.
Nero's palace was host
To immorality,
Heaven's host to godliness
For all of eternity!
Emma
Yes, I forgive you. That's a good enough apology.
@ JPIA: That's exactly like me. I'd LOVE to be an author and poet when I grow up, but I don't know what to write about! I'm right in the middle of typing a half-finished book called Susanna White that I made up. I have no idea what adventures she should have! Maybe you could make an acrostic of your name, or nature or something. I want to read your acrostic! PLEASE?!?!?!?!
@ SBG: Oh, that's fine. I didn't except you to post it immediately.
Writing poems takes thought and care,
But you can write them anywhere,
Write them at school, write them at stores,
Think of them while you're doing chores!
Write them at home, write them while you're away,
But writing poems takes thought, I say!
Write them on land, write them on the seas,
But what about? Giraffes? Bees?
@OCTSRIS: Actually, I already wrote a tune for it. :) Yes, I think I want it to be copyrighted, because I am just about to publish a CD of instrumental hymns played on the piano by me, and the CD will include that song. I can send you the music though if you want me to.
@Whoever you are: I don't really think that's the best username to have on a Christian blog. Maybe you can use it in a different place. Also, @All who are doing virtual warring - what do you think any people new to Memverse would think if they viewed what you are doing? They'd probably think that the people on here are a bunch of nerds who just like to tease each other! Cut it out, please. I'm sorry to be so blunt, but just cut it out. Thank you.
I wonder what they think about your comment.
I know sometimes it can get out of hand, but I believe it was practically finished, and besides, there's nothing wrong with a little teasing. Maybe we are nerds, but I don't believe anybody would ever think that those conducting "virtual war" were serious.
I'll honor your request and stop, but look at my first sentence again.
@The People in the War:
This is an "extension" of what Matthew already said:
When you are typing up a reply, do you somehow not notice the motto of the General Chat Topics? It is Ephesians 4:29: "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear."
Are nuclear wars "corrupting"? The answer is obvious. Are nuclear wars "good for building up"? No, they are good for tearing down. They do not fit the topic of poems and acrostics, which should be directed either to God, or fellow men, but all for the glory of God. This certainly hasn't given grace to me or Matthew! I understand this isn't a real nuclear war and you think you're just "having fun", but we should be a good example.
99ccb2c1d47add6de4209d7bbac7a0af?s=128&d=mm
Emma
AMEN! Thank you!!! I do not like wars, and I do not like Sparkly's username!!!!!
@ ZBMF: I like that! Maybe you had "hot peppers" for H; I don't have any idea what you could have had for A though, maybe "ants"? :D
@ Octavius: Oh, please don't dishonor Mr. Minica the Great. He has stopped our fighting and made the wonderful PEACE!
Can somebody make a tune for this? It might be kinda hard though…
Psalm 100
Make a joyful noise to the LORD,
All the world!
Serve the LORD while gladness raising,
Come before him with praising!
For the LORD is Immanuel,
We are the sheep of his meadow.
Enter into his gates with gladness,
Into his courts with no sadness!
Bless his name, give thanks to God,
For the LORD is good.
His love never fades away,
His faithfulness endures to this day!
@Matthew Minica~ Wow! So you are musical too? I'm very musical, and I'm glad to know I'm not the only musical "geek" in the world :^D. (If you're REALLY into music, you know exactly what I mean.) Anyway, do you have a website for your music CDs? It would be nice if you could give me the link. And by the way, legally, if you want it copyrighted, just say it's copyrighted. There is paperwork you can fill out to make it more secure, but not necessary. Thanks so much!
@Everyone involved in the "war"~ I wave a white flag. Remember that truce is better than friction!
@Sparky~ I agree with Matthew. Can't you have a shorter, nicer username? Hope I don't come off with a holier-than-thou attitude… but does your present one glorify God?
EDIT— Okay, never mind. I see you did change it, to "beyond awesome". However… isn't GOD the One Who is beyond awesome?
Music is my favorite school subject, OCTSRIS! I practically never get tired of it. Yes, I know exactly what you mean! I don't have a website for my CDs yet, but I want to have one. I have a friend who does web design who told me he'd make me a website for free. I'm still considering it, because I would still have to pay for the hosting and everything.
I am going to make a topic on music so we can talk about it there.
@Octavius: That's alright. I'll try not to be so "commanding" next time. :)
I have an acrostic!
Amazing grace! That saved a wretch
Like me!
And did Christ die to
Save me on the tree?
Did he die to save an
Ignorant wretch like I?
Did he give his life for me?
He was the one who did die!
Eternal life I shall have because of what he has
Done in me!
I hung him on the cross, yet I am
Eternally saved through the tree.
This is my first rhyming acrostic poem! But rhyming doesn't really matter.
@ STDAEFSWG: I agree with OCTSRIS; does that name honor God? Couldn't you just change it to something simple and humble, like FaithInChrist, or LoverOfGod, or something God-honoring and not stuck-up and proud?
@Matthew Minica~ Well, if you end up getting that site, would you mind posting the link?
I play piano for probably somewhere from 2 to 3 hours a day. I also play piano for our church on Wednesday night prayer meetings (I'm known for embellishing to much). By the way, how old are you, if I may ask? I'm 14. (See my haiku below)
@Sparkly the Deranged Algebraic Evil Furious Sword-Wielding Giraffe~ I miss 2Cool4School. It's not necessarily the best one, but I think it's hilarious… or maybe I'm just weird. That's another possibility! Anyway, please just think of something nicer and shorter. Please?
@Haiku "Debate"~ A technical haiku must have 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second, 5 in the third. Sometimes they're hard to write, other times they're pretty easy, like this one was:
Music instruments.
Amazing compositions.
Sit back, play and dream!
