A poor man is sitting in a pub. He sees that the man next to him is extremely rich.

Poor man: I have an amazing talent; I know almost every song that has ever existed.

The rich man laughs.

Poor man: I am willing to bet you all the money you have in your wallet that I can sing a popular song that includes a lady's name of your choosing.

The rich man laughs again.

Rich man: OK, how about my daughter's name, Joanna Armstrong-Miller?

The poor man goes home rich.

What song did he sing?

Outside a room there are three light switches. One of switch is connected to a light bulb inside the room.
Each of the three switches can be either 'ON' or 'OFF'.

You are allowed to set each switch the way you want it and then enter the room(note: you can enter the room only once)

Your task is to then determine which switch controls the bulb ??

Welcome Daniel Walley! It's good to see you on Memverse Forums! :)

Turn on first switch. Wait. Turn off the switch. Turn on the second switch. Walk into the room. If the light is on the second switch turns it on. If the lamp is off feel it to see if the bulb is warm. If so the first switch turns it on. And if it is cold the third switch turns it on.

(I remembered this one from before. :)

I really don't know… I'll have to think about it more.

I know! I know! (And no, this is not a family riddle. I don't where he got it. :))
I'll wait to tell until some other get a chance to answer…

Hey everyone, I've got a good riddle: In the english language, what 5 letter word's pronunciation remains the same if you remove 4 of the letters?

One of three things happened here:

  1. Someone posted, and then deleted.
  2. Someone new posted and is waiting to be varied. :)
  3. I'm seeing things. :P

Welcome, new person. The "Introduce Yourself" section is down the left hallway, while the "Social Chatting August 2014" is a couple doors down, on your right. 'Sup?

Welcome Zeke! Zeke is my little brother's name. :-)
Is the answer "queue"?

Deleted user

How did you get it!!??? I've never had anyone guess correctly!

Deleted user

Shoot! I didn't know that, or I would have waited a bit longer before doing it :-)

Emmy

It means a line (like a line for food in a restaurant). It's more commonly used in the UK, though.

Deleted user

Yeah, most of my friends don't really know what it means either. Still, if anyone has watched Sound of Music recently, I think they use the word "queue" in there.

Deleted user

Oh, maybe I'm remembering wrong. I remember them all lining up in a straight line, but I guess you're right, they never actually used the word queue.

Welcome to Memverse, Zeke! :)

We watched The Sound of Music just last week, and yes, the word "queue" was used.

The man who made it didn't want it. Then man who bought it didn't use it. The man who used it didn't know he used it. What was it?

What has rivers, but no fish swim,
Has many a town, but ne'er an inn?

Sorry it took me so long to reply: the answer is +a map+. :-)

_What walks on four legs in the morning, two in the afternoon, and three in the evening?_

A human. :P

Crawls at the dawn of it's life, walks during the prime, has a cane during the twilight seasons before death.

EDIT: Although in today's world, it's hardly accurate. Some old people use walkers, which gives them six "legs"! :P

As I was walking to St. Ives,
I met a man with seven wives;
The seven wives had seven sacks;
The seven sacks had seven cats;
The seven cats had seven kits.
Kits, cats, sacks, and wives,
How many were going to St. Ives?
