Hey.. so I was organizing my bed at like midnight last night and I found Cd players, Bibles, Highlighters, Bible memory cards, Dickens books, choir music, prayer journals songs I'm writing and much more… Oh well, I guess it's just my late night office!
2 Corinthians 5:17
All that in your bed?!
J/K!
biblebee
Wow!!!
Cow
So here's a weird question: Do you study for the Bible Bee better by giving yourself positive rewards ("If I memorize these verses today, I'll go buy myself some chocolate" :), or do you work better by guilting yourself into studying ("You know what? You are seriously throwing away your chances and completely wasting your time by watching this movie, Hannah" :)? Mine is the latter, unfortunately for my sanity. :) Although I do offer myself some rewards sometimes, I usually push myself further if I think about the end goal :)
Ian R.2
I only did the latter once, when I fell behind in memorizing last year. Otherwise, I don't do any of that.
Cow
Really??? I don't think I would even be at Nationals if I didn't do that :) it's not that I don't want to study, it's just that I have to continually remind myself over and over again about the priorities :)
2 Corinthians 5:17
Both! :D
Cow
Yeah, it's probably good to have a balance :)
Ian R.2
I just set a time to do the studying, and I do the memorizing when I have the time. The reason I fell behind is because I was afraid of memorizing Ephesians 6:10-18. I felt guilty one night about it and went into the bathroom to memorize it so I wouldn't disturb anyone. I finished in about forty minutes.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Oh, by the way, I found out we live about 5 hours away from each other! :) (I looked in the BB Nationals Schedule book)
Cow
Nice :) well, I love studying in the bathroom, too, for some reason! :) I know it might sound weird, but I shut the door, turn the fan on, and walk around the room over and over and over and over again and memorize three passages at once. And I'm telling you, at the end, I'm extremely dizzy :) but hey, there's no distractions!
Cow
Schedule book? You mean the official program? I don't know of any schedule book :) Interesting! I'm wondering how many Memversers I will come across this year at Nationals, and I won't even know who they are! :)
Ian R.2
Wow, that's almost exactly what I do! But my bathroom is too small to walk around so I usually sit down on the floor.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Yes! that's what it's called! I knew there was a schedule in it, but couldn't remember the "proper name" :)
Cow
Mine's pretty long…so it works as a nice hideout from all the noise, and while I'm at it I can get a little exercise, too :D But I don't know what I would do without the fan :)
2 Corinthians 5:17
I've never studied in the bathroom! Usually in my room! But sometimes I can memorize better by walking around or moving around. Sounds strange, but it works!
Ian R.2
Yeah, the fan in our bathroom helps me stay cool, but if I have to go to another room to memorize I pace a lot. It's worse if I have to go to my room to memorize, because the floor is usually covered with legos, and there are a lot of distractions.
Dani(elle)
Wow I'll have to try that! Lol :)
SavedByGrace
Last year, I found that it was very helpful to always be walking as I was memorizing. I either walked up and down our "dead-end" street or walked around the gym at my dad's business. It really helps, believe me! :)
Ian R.2
Hey SBG, Where's Sam? He hasn't been on all day.
SavedByGrace
I dunno… I know about as much as you do. :D
Dani(elle)
Yeah? Were is he??
Dani(elle)
I'll check the LMB!! BRB!
2 Corinthians 5:17
Maybe we who like to walk while memorizing should keep each other accountable for exercising plus our memory work :D
Dani(elle)
He was on the LMB 2day so at least he's alive. Lol :) :P jk
His Servant
I have to move around (especially walking) as well, Nicolas! If I don't walk, then I have to sit in the rocking chair :)
Also, would you let Rosie know that I'm really sorry about the cut-short phone call? My phone died, that's why :( :(
Cow
@Rachel: definitely. :) I study a lot in my room, but towards the end of October I realized that the bathroom worked really well for memorizing the verses :) anyway, yeah, it definitely helps to get out of my room and go out for a walk and study for a change of pace :)
His Servant
My siblings wouldn't want me to use the bathroom to do my memory work. We only have 2 bathrooms in our house (one is for our parents, that we don't really use) and the other one is for everyone else :) I don't think they would appreciate me studying in there for several hours :)
This is somewhat an awkward discussion ;P
Dani(elle)
Lol yeah kinda! :)

@Rachel: Yep!
Evan Smythe
Hey folks!!! I'm glad to be joining you:)

Happy Easter! Jesus is RISEN!!!
Cow
Happy Easter, everyone! @His Servant: we only have two bathrooms, too…which is why I only go in there for a few minutes at a time :)
Dani(elle)
Yes! Other awesome people who dare to get on memeverse on Easter!!
Cow
lol well we're not doing much around here…just little kids running around screaming and my dog resting right here by me while I do memverse ;)
God's Maiden of Virtue
At our old house, we only had one bathroom- and there were eight of us at the time!
Dani(elle)
Lol I'm playing with my cousins cat and watching basket ball with my brothers and cousins. My only girl cousin wasn't able to come because of………..family troubles.. :(
Cow
Yeah…we lived in a duplex in Florida that only had two bedrooms and one bathroom. 7 people :)
Cow
haha well…boy cousins are ok too :) I have the opposite problem–my mom and her siblings have 10 girls and 2 boys in total! :)
Dani(elle)
Lol yeah. :) I it won't be so bad if her family wasn't an absolute mess. :(

Many times today you hear that the word Easter should not be used to refer to the Ressurection of Christ, because it had root in a pagan goddess' name.
If however this was the case at one time, it wasn't in Martin Luther and William Tyndale's day, and shoulden't be the case today.
But due to certain writings which have been propagated by those who would discredit the worship of Christ through Easter, there is an assosciation once again with an ancient goddess and the Easter holiday.
To set anyone straight about this, AIG wrote a good comprehensive article on the subject; http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/2011/04/19/name-easter-pagan
Happy Ressurection Sunday to all my fellow Memverser's.
I'm sorry Easter was given a bad rap by the current culture.
Edit:This went along more with the Easter thread so I posted this there as well.
Dani(elle)
It's sad how our culture 2day tries to take Jesus out of EVERYTHING.
