East To West
Written by John Mark Hall, Bernie Herms
Here I am Lord and I'm drowning
In your sea of forgetfulness
The chains of yesterday surround me
I yearn for peace and rest
I don't want to end up where you found me
And it echoes in my mind
Keeps me awake tonight
I know you've cast my sin as far
As the east is from the west
And I stand before you now
As though I've never sinned
But today I feel like I'm just one mistake away
From you leaving me this way
Jesus, can you show me just how far the east is from the west?
Cause I can't bear to see the man I've been
Rising up in me again
In the arms of your mercy I find rest
You know just how far the east is from the west
From one scarred hand to the other
I start the day, the war begins
Endless reminding of my sin
And time and time again
Your truth is drowned out by the storm I'm in
Today I feel like I'm just one mistake away
From you leaving me this way
Jesus, can you show me just how far the east is from the west?
Cause I can't bear to see the man I've been
Rising up in me again
In the arms of your mercy I find rest
You know just how far the east is from the west
From one scarred hand to the other
I know you've washed me white
Turned my darkness into light
I need your peace to get me through
To get me through this night
I can't live by what I feel
About the truth your word reveals
And I'm not holding onto you
But you're holding onto me
You're holding onto me
Jesus, can you show me just how far the east is from the west?
Cause I can't bear to see the man I've been
Rising up in me again
In the arms of your mercy I find rest
You know just how far the east is from the west
From one scarred hand to the other
Just how far, the east is from the west, just how far
From one scarred hand to the other
You know just how far, the east is from the west, just how far
From one scarred hand to the other

That's a great song!
Matthew Minica
Rachel, where do you hear all these CCM songs? :P
2 Corinthians 5:17
xP Hallal Music, acoustic artists who cover the song, some from Galkin/Pettit teams, etc. Once in a while the song from the original artist will "meet my standards", so there too. =P
Matthew Minica
Higher by Unspoken (the lyrics to this song sound better/more in place when they're sung rather than read, but they're still good =P)
I gotta try to do right when life's doing me wrong
Gotta shake the dust off my feet and keep marchin' on
When trouble weighs me down, brings me to my knees
Lord, my needs are many, but that's a pretty
Yeah a pretty good place to be
Don't blame it on the preacher 'cuz the preacher done told
"The devil's got a target on my heart and my soul"
But let me tell you, brother, what the devil don't know
The lower I go, the more I'm gonna lift you
Higher, higher, higher
I'm gonna lift you higher, higher, higher
God Almighty, you are worthy
Higher, higher, higher
I may never get money, I may never have fame
But if I'm ever in the spotlight, I'll point it back your way
'Cuz standing at the top was never ever my goal
But if you put me on a mountain then I'll tell the whole world
Singing hallelujah 'til I hit the dirt, oh
I'm gonna lift you higher, higher, higher
I'm gonna lift you higher, higher, higher
God Almighty, you are worthy
Higher, higher, higher
Hallelujah, He is worthy
Hallelujah, He is good
Leave me in rags and ruins and I'll praise You through it
Clothe me in glory and riches, I'll praise You just the same
All that I have, all I've been given, all of my life's ambition
Is to worship, is to honor, is to bring You praise
I'm gonna lift you higher, higher, higher
I'm gonna lift you higher, higher, higher
God Almighty, you are worthy
Higher, higher, higher
God Almighty, you are worthy
Piece of Peace
I'll memorize that one some day… LOL xP
Piece of Peace
"Yes! We have no bananas"
"There's a fruit store on our street.
It's run by a Greek.
And he sells good things to eat,
but you should hear him speak.
When you ask him anything he never answers 'no.'
He just 'yes''s you to death
and as he take your dough he tells you…"
"Yes! We have no bananas.
We have no bananas today,
we've green beans and onions.
Cabbages and scallions
And all kinds of fruit
and say we have an old fashioned tomato.
Long Island potato.
But Yes! We have no bananas.
We have no bananas today."
Business got so good with him.
He wrote home to say.
Send me Pete and Nick and Jim
I need help right away.
When he got them in the store.
There was fun you bet.
Someone asked for sparrow grass,
and then the whole quartet all answered…
"Yes! We have no bananas.
We have no bananas today,
we've green beans and onions.
Cabbages and scallions
And all kinds of fruit
and say we have an old fashioned tomato.
Long Island potato.
But Yes! We have no bananas.
We have no bananas today."

It's just a crazy song we used to sing… xP LOL

Okay, so I've seen a lot of people quote the lyrics to Thy Will by Hillary Scott in different places, and I love the lyrics but have never heard the song. Anyone know if there's a recording somewhere that I could listen to? :P Don't go look for one; I'm just curious if anyone knows of anything. Thanks!
Piece of Peace
I've only heard it on the radio…

In honor of Reformation Day (which is actually in twenty days, but I won't be on MV then), here is a very good song based on the Five Solas:
2 Corinthians 5:17
I know this song has been posted before, so I hope you all don't mind me posting it again. x) The lyrics are just so good!!
I Will Trust In You
Written by: Lauren Daigle
Letting go of every single dream
I lay each one down at Your feet
Every moment of my wandering
Never changes what You see
I’ve tried to win this war I confess
My hands are weary I need Your rest
Mighty Warrior, King of the fight
No matter what I face, You’re by my side
When You don’t move the mountains I’m needing You to move
When You don’t part the waters I wish I could walk through
When You don’t give the answers as I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You!
Truth is, You know what tomorrow brings
There’s not a day ahead You have not seen
So, in all things be my life and breath
I want what You want Lord and nothing less
When You don’t move the mountains I’m needing You to move
When You don’t part the waters I wish I could walk through
When You don’t give the answers as I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You!
You are my strength and comfort
You are my steady hand
You are my firm foundation; the rock on which I stand
Your ways are always higher
Your plans are always good
There’s not a place where I’ll go, You’ve not already stood
When You don’t move the mountains I’m needing You to move
When You don’t part the waters I wish I could walk through
When You don’t give the answers as I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You!
I will trust in You!
I will trust in You!
I will trust in You!

The Love of God
by Frederick Lehman
The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.
Refrain:
Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure—
The saints’ and angels’ song.
When hoary time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song.
Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.
Frederick Lehman tells us that verse 3 “had been found penciled on the wall of a patient’s room in an insane asylum after he had been carried to his grave.” While it is only supposition that he was the one who adapted the Jewish author’s poem to leave us these well-known lines, if the account is true it shows in any case that he highly esteemed the message.
This is Daddy's current favorite, and I really like it too. Have y'all seen the movie "Indescribable"?
Eirene
Someone probably posted this one sometime, but I love it.
BEFORE THE THRONE OF GOD ABOVE:
Before the throne of God above,
I have a strong and perfect plea,
A great High Priest, whose name is Love,
Who ever lives and pleads for me .
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart;
I know that while in heaven He stands,
No tongue can bid me thence depart,
No tongue can bid me thence depart.
When Satan tempts me to despair,
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look, and see Him there,
Who made an end to all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died,
My sinful soul is counted free;
For God the just is satisfied,
To look on Him and pardon me,
To look on Him and pardon me.
Behold Him there, the Risen Lamb,
My perfect, spotless righteousness,
The great unchangeable I am,
The King of glory and of grace.
One with Himself I cannot die ,
My soul is purchased by His blood;
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ, my Savior and my God,
With Christ, my Savior and my God.
I bow before the cross of Christ,
And marvel at this love divine,
God's perfect son was sacrificed,
To make me righteous in God's eyes.
This river's depths I cannot know,
But I can glory in it's flood;
The Lord most high has bowed down low,
And poured on me his glorious love,
And poured on me his glorious love.

I love playing "The Love of God" on cello. xP And I knew that about the last verse! That's so beautiful… And, I'd never heard that last verse of "Before the Throne" before!
Eirene
Yeah, that last verse isn't very common I don't think. :)
Matthew Minica
What a difficult song this is to sing and honestly mean it. But it is so important to understand that even in the madness and the pain of life, God is still showing His love to us.
Don't Stop the Madness by Tenth Avenue North
There’s a beggar down inside of me
Standing on the corner of your street
And my shame is my only company
Could use some cash but can’t admit my need
For what You got and what I could receive
I need Your love to come and break the silence
Don’t stop the madness Don’t stop the chaos Don’t stop the pain surrounding me Don’t be afraid, Lord, to break my heart And bring me down to my knees
But all I hear is what they’re selling me
That God is love, He isn’t suffering
And what you need’s a little faith in prosperity
But oh, my God, I know there’s more than this
If You promise pain, it can’t be meaningless
So make me poor if that’s the price for freedom
Don’t stop the madness Don’t stop the chaos Don’t stop the pain surrounding me Don’t be afraid, Lord, to break my heart And bring me down to my knees
In a marriage lost
And the cry in the dark
Don’t stop with Your love
In a mother’s tear
For the child who starves
Don’t stop with Your love
When we’re breaking down
We’re falling apart
Don’t stop with Your love
And with new eyes to see
This is Your mercy
Don’t stop with Your love
Don’t stop the madness Don’t stop the chaos Don’t stop the pain inside of me Do whatever it takes to give me Your heart And bring me down to my knees, Lord
Don't stop
Don't stop
Just bring me down to my knees, Lord
(Don't stop with Your love)
Piece of Peace
Ah! Great Song!
K
Oh my goodness, I love those lyrics, Matthew!
Matthew Minica
Here is where the road divides
Here is where we realize
The sculpting of the Father's great design
Through' time you've been a friend to me
But time is now the enemy
I wish we didn't have to say goodbye
But I know the road He chose for me
Is not the road he chose for you
So as we chase the dreams we're after
Pray for me and I'll pray for you
Pray that we will keep the common ground
Won't you pray for me and I'll pray for you
And one day love will bring us back around again
Painted on our tapestry
We see the way it has to be
Weaving through' the laughter and the tears
But love will be the tie that binds us
To the time we leave behind us
Memories will be our souvenirs
And I know that through' it all
The hardest part of love is letting go
But there's a greater love that holds us
Pray for me and I'll pray for you
Pray that we will keep the common ground
Won't you pray for me and I'll pray for you
And one day love will bring us back around again

ZachB
I've lost track of how many of those I've done, lol. The only good thing about these goodbyes is that it makes the hellos all that more special.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Haha, same. xP So you all left the Minica's house this morning? :(

Yea, at 9:20 central time. :'(

Wishing you were somehow here again,
Wishing you were somehow near.
Sometimes it seems if I just dreamed
Somehow you would be here.
Wishing I could hear your voice again……

Lol, it took me a really long time to figure out why that sounded familiar. =P
Eirene
Um…why does it sound familiar, Emily? I thought it did…but I couldn't figure out why. =P
M27
Rachel M, that was perfect! It took me a little while to figure it out, though :).

I know that this song has been posted before, but it comforted me last week. I remember sobbing in the restroom on Saturday afternoon, because I had just listened to my oral round and found out that I actually had messed up (a mistake I had never made before!). The Lord quieted my heart, and reminded me that this trial is His mercy in disguise. And yes, healing does come through tears :). I still don't completely understand why I messed up in orals, why I didn't make it to semis after working much harder than ever before, why I missed a very simple memory passage question on the written test. But one thing I do know: God is always good, and He has blessed me so much, even through this crushed dream.
Blessings
We pray for blessings, we pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
And all the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things
'Cause what if your blessings come through rain drops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
We pray for wisdom, Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt your goodness, we doubt your love
As if every promise from Your word is not enough
And all the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe
'Cause what if your blessings come through rain drops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not,
This is not our home
It's not our home
'Cause what if your blessings come through rain drops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if my greatest disappointments or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can't satisfy
What if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your mercies in disguise
ZachB
sighs I just miss you all sooo much!!!

I'm going to post my "Nationals song" even though I wasn't there. :P (I don't know the author; I have it on a CD from The Wilds. :P)
In Faith I Follow
In faith I follow on the path
Though the way is hid from view.
My soul is trusting in Your will;
I gladly lean on You.
Lead me on, loving Shepherd,
I rest in all You are.
Keep my gaze on only You, Lord,
Strengthen now my fainting heart.
In faith I follow on the path,
Though I'm worn by fear and care.
Refresh me with unending joy
To lift me from despair.
Lead me on, loving Shepherd,
My refuge and my shield.
Keep my gaze on only You, Lord.
To Your will my soul does yield.
In faith I follow on the path,
'Neath the shadow of the cross.
You freely gave so I could live;
I count all gain as loss.
Lead me on, loving Shepherd,
I kneel before Your throne.
Keep my gaze on only You, Lord,
My life is not my own.
In faith I follow on the path;
Soon I'll see You face to face.
In times of pain I need Your strength
To finish strong the race.
Lead me on, loving Shepherd,
Affliction I will bear.
Keep my gaze on only You, Lord,
Glory comes beyond compare.
Rachel the Alaskan
I'm confused as to what you all are commenting on…the first lyrics I posted (:P) or the second. Or both.
hugs everyone
M27
I believe that at least Emily and I were talking about the Nationals theme song; I don't know about everyone else.
2 Corinthians 5:17
I was talking about the BB song, lol
Eirene
LOL I think I was the one confused. XPP I knew what the first one was, but I thought the second one sounded familiar…probably just me. XPP

Okay XD
Brianna- the second one is from a song in The Phantom of the Opera
2 Corinthians 5:17
Homesick
You're in a better place, I've heard a thousand times
And at least a thousand times I've rejoiced for you
But the reason why I'm broken, the reason why I cry
Is how long must I wait to be with you
I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now
Help me Lord cause I don't understand your ways
The reason why I wonder if I'll ever know
But, even if you showed me, the hurt would be the same
Cause I'm still here so far away from home
I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now
In Christ, there are no goodbye
And in Christ, there is no end
So I'll hold onto Jesus with all that I have
To see you again
To see you again
And I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now
