*Please Read* I've noticed a trend among the character descriptions we've made so far...........almost everyone is skilled with a sword and bow! That's not bad, but it does give a sort of "cookie-cutter" feel to the characters. So, I've decided to create an ever-growing list of weapons that would be used in this time period. *Ranged Weapons* 1. Crossbow. A mechanical bow, easy to aim and shoot, but less range than a longbow. 2. Recurve Bow. A bow longer than the shortbow, but shorter than the longbow. The opposing curves gave it range, if not all the range and power of the longbow. 3. Longbow. A bow as long as the wielder is tall, the longbow requires it's user to have both strength, and experience in shooting bows. Has the greatest range and power of all the bows. 4. Shortbow. A short bow, used mainly for hunting. 5. Kunai/ Throwing Knife. A small knife, balanced for throwing. 6. Sling. A long strip of leather, with a pouch in between the grips on either side. 7. Javelin. A long, thin spear, suitable for throwing. *Close-Quarters Weapons* 1. Broadsword. A heavy, long sword. Requires great strength. 2. Longsword. A long-bladed sword, of a smaller width than the broadsword. 3. Shortsword. A short sword, of equal width as the longsword. 4. Scimitar. A weapon found mainly in the Southern Wastes, the Scimitar has founds it's way to Alavaria through trading. It is a long, curved blade, and equal to the broadsword. 5. Dirk. A blade of a length midway between the dagger and shortsword. 6. Dagger. A blade shorter than the dirk, often used as a companion to a sword. 7. Ladies' Dagger. Smaller than the dagger, the length of the blade is about the width of your palm. Easily concealed. 8. Kusarigama. A small sickle, attached to a chain that has a small weight at the end. 9. Katana. An exotic weapon, used by the warriors of the Eastern Kingdoms. It is a long, slightly curved sword with a chisel tip. 10. Nunchaku. Twin staves of dense wood, connected by a short chain. 11. Tessen. Folding fans with outer spokes made of heavy plates of iron which were designed to look like normal, harmless folding fans. Warriors could take these to places where swords or other overt weapons were not allowed, and some swordsmanship schools included training in the use of the tessen as a weapon. The tessen was also used for fending off arrows and darts, as a throwing weapon, and as an aid in swimming. 12. Mace. A ball of metal attached to the end of a shaft of dense wood. Sometimes studded with spikes, it requires a good amount of strength to wield. 13. Morning Star. A spiked metal ball attached to a chain connecting it to a shaft of dense wood. Also requires good muscle power to use effectively. 14. Battle Axe. I have a rather crazy, possibly hare-brained idea that may solve our problems… If we cannot convince the moderators to create an entire forum for our RPG… Maybe we could use the only completely unused forum on Memverse for them? (By that, of course, I mean the forum about the Philippines, which has never had even one topic.) Possibly hare-brained, as I said, but… possibly a possibility??

I don't believe they would like you posting in the wrong forum. :P It would be nice to have a separate forum for RP, for the sake of the people that want to use the chatting forum for… chatting. On the other hand I do not like the idea of a separate on, for the sake of it seeming like it was given endorsement by Memverse.com

I know… those were the problems I was thinking of. But it would be so much trouble to try to do it all under one forum, or to clutter GCT with tons of topics for the RPG… I dunno. Like I said, crazy idea, probably a bad one.

Thanks for the thought though. That's what counts. I might ask Alex and/or Andy at the next quiz or the one after (I might not attend the one on Christmas Day) if they'd allow another forum, or a re-naming of one we already have. But at the same time, I don't want Memverse to be a site we to come for fun only. It was designed for Scripture memorization, and the Forums and community come after that. It would be great to have an RP Forum, but it's not the most pressing need.

I am thinking about dropping out… maybe you could have my character die or something? It will make it easier for me to be an illustrator….

Since we haven't officially started, and no one else seems to want a practice RP, I guess we could just not include you.

I'm reviving this thread since you've all abandoned me to talk about the origins of Thor's half thumb. Those who want to have a practice RP should post here to request for one. I think what we'll do is have each of them tell a bit of story for specific characters, a few characters will be in groups, and have their backstory up until they reach Kolath City. Anyone who'd like to help me in planning the RP after that is welcome!

*Storyline* It has been 30 years since the Fall of the Council, and Alavaria has enjoyed peace. The era of kings is over, and Alavaria is governed by the new People's Assembly, composed of representatives from every major region of the Kingdom, and headed by the Committee of Five, the remaining heroes of The War of Freedom ( Still haven't decided on which five heroes. Kathryn is one, maybe Britton and William. Jimmy said that Ronan "...will not remain going South forever." in a recent post, so I take it to mean he'll die soon. Correct me if I'm wrong.). Under their leadership, Alavaria has thrived, becoming an international center of trade and commerce, known across the world. The capital of Alavaria is Kolath City, the City of Peace, and is home to the Hall of Assembly. The nobles live in the upper ring of the city (I've envisioned it as an enormous city surrounded by a circular wall, with two ascending levels of concentric circular walls within.), while the common people and most of the industry are in the middle and lower rings. It is here that the Guilds of Science, History, Military, and Religion are located, each teaching a specific facet of Alavarian culture. The guilds themselves are divided into sub-groups according the their many distinct parts, and the greatest minds of the kingdom come from them. In the midst of this oasis of peace and prosperity, there is a dark side. There have been rumors of trouble in the outer colonies, and one village was found completely empty, with houses and possessions intact, but the people gone. No one knows the cause of these events; some say that a band of notorious raiders, the Multaka, are to blame, others say that one of the old Council members has returned for revenge. Whatever the case, it is clear that troubled times are ahead for Alavaria................ So, what do you guys think?

Here are all the characters so far... *Turner the Adventurer* _SavedByGrace_ Age: 21 Clothing: Black all around; tunic, trousers, and boots. Also wears a black cape and hood, which usually hides his face from view. Generally refuses to use armor at any time. Appearance: Low-cut brown hair and short brown beard. 6'2, and fairly muscular build. Weapons: Ancient-looking broadsword. Is also excellent with any kind of bow, and says he can handle a mace and a battle axe, but his sword is always his weapon of choice. Description: Despite his secretive look and ways, those who manage to become his friends will find that he will open up to those he thinks he can trust. He can generally control his temper, but he has been known to fly into fits of rage when greatly irritated. Is especially ferocious in battle; but can be extremely tender if the need arises. Virtually nothing is known by anyone about his family history, and the history of even his recent past is shrouded in mystery. Rumor has it that he was once a noble in a far-off country, but recently came to seek his fortune in Alavaria* *Azarenken of Forenton* _Sir Walter (Jimmy)_ Age: 18 Appearance: Wears a long reversible cloak that is white on one side and dark blue on the other. Never wears his hood. Has carefully and intricately crafted boots and arm guards to protect from stray arrows or sword blows. Wears a dark blue shirt and has dark blue trousers. Weapons: Uses two swords of relatively small length. It gives him greater mobility. He has no protection by way of shield, but he trusts to his ability to maneuver quickly and skillfully. Description: Azarenken is in no way secretive about his person. He is not prideful, but he still likes for people to know who he is and to know who they are dealing with when they come across him. He loves people and is incredibly loyal to friends or to causes. He loves to practice his sword-fighting skills amongst his friends, and it is his dream one day to be like his famous relative, Sir Quinn. Above all things, he is inquisitive. This curiosity, however, often conflicts with a real fear which he has for death and betrayal. Perhaps that is why he is so loyal: he doesn't want anyone to catch him off-guard or to stab him in the back. *Name: Sussana* _Biblebee_ Age: 18 Appearance (this is probably going to sound silly…): Long blonde hair and blue eyes. She wears white dresses but with a dark black cloak (is that the right word?) She is about 5'7". Weapons: Slingshot, and a short sword…Her weapon of choice is definitely her sword. Description: Is very reserved. Talks little and rarely shows how she truly feels but thinks a lot. She is lets others lead but stands up boldly for what she believes is right. She takes a while to trust people but when she does it takes a lot to shake her trust in them. She thinks that those who talk a lot are bragging/boasting and she very much dislikes bragging/boasting.* *Adelaide Coleson* _Hannah W._ Age:16 Appearance: Typical lady apparel of the day, Dress and boots of darker colors but loves to wear a scarf to hide identity. Is quite pretty but that betrays her temper Has long wavy blonde hair, dark hazel eyes that express her emotions vividly. Weapons: Very skilled with the bow and arrow and always hits the target every time. She also has a dagger with her but only uses it under the gravest circumstances. She is trying to learn the sword. She is also learning the dirk. Description: Adelaide is sweet and obliging and very generous. She also has a very bad temper, but sticks to what she thinks and believes and very loyal. She hates to be thought of as “child” and wants to do the “adult” fighting but is a little to pushy and passionate about that. She is very fun loving and loves adventure but can always calm down and read. She is very good at espionage (That might come in later ☺). Her mother and two younger siblings died during a disease 2 years ago and is very sad and touchy on that subject. Father is a relative of the Count of Omb and has similar qualities. *Name: Lily Evangeline* _run2obtain_ Age: 18 Appearance: A young lady of six feet in height, with long blond hair and intense blue eyes. She wears a forest green dress, and a forest green cloak. Weapons: Bow and Arrows, with a sword at her side. Description: On one hand, she can be quite serious; on the other, she tends to be a little mischievous. She enjoys archery and swordplay. She has perfect aim with the bow and arrows, and her skill with the sword is ever improving.* *Name: Keilab the Green* _InSoloChristo_ Age: Young adult, exact age unknown. (Probably younger than he seems.) Appearance: Wears brown leather boots and a thick leather suit of armor stained a deep green. It has a hood, which he wears only when in combat. His hair is brown, and kept short. He wears brown leather boots. He refuses to cumber himself with adornments. Weapons: Woodsman's axe; crossbow; daggers for both throwing and stabbing. Description: He is very studious, and prefers to stand aside and observe what little society his is in. But he is always eager to defend "unarmed pedestrians" with his crossbow, sometimes showing up out of nowhere to do so. A excellent horseman, and none too slow on foot, he can appear on a scene and disappear before his presence is fully realized. He disappears for long periods of time into the forest to read a book. Foremost Vice: He has a very nasty tendency to look into things that aren't his business. Perhaps this stems from his care for others, but all too often he exceeds the bounds of courtesy… *James of Pennoh* _Ian R. 2_ Age: 17 Appearance: About 5 11', fairly muscular build, bright blue eyes, a kind face, and short brown hair. wears a black tunic and trousers, with black boots. He also has a hood, but only wears it when he is trying to stay hidden. Weapons: A dark green short-bow, with brown arrows. He also carries a short-sword that he can use with great skill in close combat. Has a small dagger hidden in his tunic if he needs it. Description: Despite his dark clothes he is actually very bright and optimistic. Usually has a big smile on his face unless something serious happens. He comes from the land of Pennoh where there are some legends about the people there. He claims that's why he came to Alavaria, but he won't say any more. He is very fast and light on his feet, but if need be, he can stand as still as a statue. He is also very flexible, and is very stealthy. Has plenty of compassion and is hard to make angry, but when he loses his temper he can be quite ferocious. He seems to be hiding a secret, but no one can tell what it is.* *Edward the Young Man* _Jackson_ Age: 18 Appearance: Is tall for his age, and has brown hair and brown eyes. Has a great smile, which you may see often. Wears a light brown tunic, with a few things tucked inside. Has dark brown boots. He also has a brown cloak just in case he needs it. Notice that everything's brown: good for hiding in the woods. Weapons: Recurve bow and arrows, and his father's knife. Description: Edward has been through a lot in his life: His mother died when he was four from an attack from an unknown person. Edward wants revenge on whoever did. His father is a cook, and the owner of a tavern near the Kenridge Mountains. Sir Quinn is related to him. He can be very stealthy and move without a sound. Edward likes to joke around, and can come up with some clever plans. Rather speedy. Likes adventure and exploring. *Name: Eryana* _God's Maiden of Virtue_ Age: 18 Appearance: Long, wavy brown hair, that reaches a couple inches past her hips; is nearly always pulled back in a French braid, to keep it out of the way. Has brown eyes. Is 5'7" in height. Wears a plain, dull green dress, with slightly wide, open sleeves, and tighter sleeves beneath those reaching just above her wrists. Weapons: Recurve bow. Also keeps a shortsword/tessen [still debating] hidden on her back behind the quiver of arrows. Description: Is fairly reserved, but very easy to talk to. Is extremely skilled with the bow, having keen eyesight and accuracy. Can run incredibly fast, making it easy to make quick escapes and such. Is not afraid of heights – just falling. :P Main fault: Sometimes does according to what she thinks is best, instead of just following given instructions/directions; has gotten herself into (actual) trouble a number of times.* *Aubrey* _Bethany Meckle_ Age: 16 Appearance: Slightly below the average height; long reddish-blond hair that is often carelessly pulled back; her bright green eyes convey her emotions strongly. She prefers to dress in bright colors, but will revert to dark or dull colors if necessary to avoid detection. Weapons: A sharp shooter with the bow. Is secretly training in swordsmanship, and quickly becoming a master(ess). Description: Brave, cheerful, and highly mischievous. She is willing to risk her personal safety to save another life, but will also pull pranks that frequently annoy others (as of yet, none of her pranks have been too dangerous). If you are looking for Aubrey, look no further than the closest scene of action. She is always wearing a white leather belt around her waist. She has Black armor over dark blue dress. Weapons: Recurve Bow with accompanying Dagger. Dose not knows how to use a sword. Description: She has perfect aim and enjoys rivalry. She's a maid of all trades (except with swords). Description: Amarisa’s family has lived in Alavaria for generations. Her grandfather was killed during the War for Freedom. Personality-wise, people often compare her to a deer, since she tends to be shy, quiet, and gentle, but also pretty and graceful. She is a peacekeeper and would rather settle for second best than start a conflict. She has an uncannily strong memory, especially for visual input. *NAME: Jordan Victor _Deadpool's Chimichanga-Enhanced Vision, a.k.a, Jarret_ AGE: 20 APPEARANCE: About 6'3 and wears armor ( and a helmet) and is strong DESCRIPTION: Very fast and competed in gymnastics and got 1st in rings. Also, he is a bounty hunter,it will be hard to convince him to be good.. PERSONALITY: If you don't get him mad, then he is nice (Not during business though..) WEAPONS: Morning star and small dagger. In danger, he has a shield in his pocket than expands* *Donovan* _Luke_ Age: 22 Appearance: Has short brown hair. Wears a light green cap and green cape. Weapons: Two short swords. Description: Pretty fast. Donovan has lots of disguises for when he goes into town, and fakes that he's a merchant, or something. His great uncle was Sir Myles, but he's not quite as traitorous.
