LOL - Yes. Those were fun. xD :D :D Now, quick question: Are you shorter than Abby, or taller? And by how much?
Great! I'll go read it!
You could ask Cari…maybe like a couple days after they get home though, since they'll need to unpack and rest and recuperate. :) We stayed up really late (or I should say early) each night :P ^But it was totally worth it, of course!!^
I think she might do a better job than I would, and I have lots to keep up/catch up/get done.
Sarah B.
I really have no idea. I think we are the same height, but if I had my guess I’d say I’m taller by maybe a centimeter or something. :P Abi isn't short… :) Why?
Okay, that sounds good! We are really looking forward to her getting back on here! :D
God's Maiden of Virtue
I was just wondering, because now that we have met you in person, I know your height even better. And if what you say is true, then Nicolas is most definitely taller than Abby. xD
=) =)
Sarah B.
Aw… poor Abigail. :(
God's Maiden of Virtue
Yeah…really. : | 'Cause he is about 5'9" or so. |
Jessica Rankin
Hi, Rosie!
I liked "A Father's Promise". :-) Are you reading any good books at the moment?
})i({
God's Maiden of Virtue
Hi Jessica!
How are you?
Yes, a few books I am in the middle of reading are Set-Apart Femininity by Leslie Ludy, Comfortable Troubles by Elizabeth Prentiss, and I just started Shadow of the Almighty by Elisabeth Elliot yesterday (Bethany P. got it for me! :). Have you read any of these books? What books have you been reading lately?
(Btw, I like your picture. =)
Sarah B.
Rosie! What was the first thing you noticed about me when we first met? xD
God's Maiden of Virtue
Hmm….your face. xD And then your clothes. And then your height. And then your voice. xD :D x) :) What was the first thing you noticed about me?
Sarah B.
The first thing I noticed was how long your hair was… then your height, and then your voice. :)
His Servant
Sent you a message on ST, Rosie! Miss you TONS. =/ hugs
God's Maiden of Virtue
:D Was my hair longer or shorter than you were expecting it to be? Was I shorter or taller than you were expecting me to be? And was my voice different or pretty similar to what you were expecting it to be? ;)
I think you looked shorter than I was expecting - I thought you would be a bit taller than me. :) And your voice was different than I expected it to be. =)
God's Maiden of Virtue
I'll check it soon! Miss you too! ^Especially when I go to bed. wink^
Jessica Rankin
Hi, Rosie!
Hope you and your family are doing well. :-)
I like your picture, too. What kind of flowers are they?
No, I don't think that I've ever heard of those books before. I'm reading a book now called "The Suffering of Man and the Sovereignty of God" by C. H. Spurgeon, and it's pretty neat so far. Kinda in depth and detailed, if you know what I mean, but it's interesting. It's about Job. :-)
Do you like to knit? I can't remember if you do or not. :-)
})i({
God's Maiden of Virtue
Hi, Jessica! :)
We've been busy, but are doing well. How are all of you doing? How many siblings do you have?
Thank you; the flowers are apple blossoms from the crab apple tree in our front yard. :)
I'm sure that book is pretty in depth! Books from the Reformers, Puritans, and preachers are always like that - which I personally really like. :) God gave them so much knowledge and understanding, it is amazing!
I don't know how to knit, but I crochet, and love it! Do you knit and/or crochet? If so, what do you make?
Jessica Rankin
Hi, Rosie!
Hope you and your family are doing well. :-)
Sorry it took me a while to write back. My excuse is that things have been busy this week, since Mom and I went to an oil-painting class Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday we recovered from Monday and Tuesday, Thursday we went to town, Friday we recovered from Thursday, and yesterday my sister and her two kids came and visited all day. :-) Hopefully next week won't be quite so busy.
I have two older siblings: a brother, and a sister who is married and has two children, my nephew and niece. :-)
Yes, I knit, and I like it! I have knit hats, fingerless gloves, socks, dishcloths, and I'm working on my first attempt at a sweater, a cardigan vest that I've been working on for months. :-) Maybe I'll get it done before winter. I've come to the conclusion that sweaters take forever, even when they don't have sleeves.
What do you crochet?
That's neat that you have a crab apple tree in your yard. We have an old pear tree in our front yard, and we just identified another one that we thought was a weed tree as a black cherry. :-) I thought that was nice.
Do you have any pets?
God's Maiden of Virtue
Jessica! Good to hear from you! =)
Oh, it is completely fine if it takes you a while to respond - there is much more to life than messages on here. ;-)
Wow, you have been busy! You mentioned that you and your mom went to an oil-painting class…do you like to paint a lot then?
So you are the 'baby' of the family (as some people put it :) - how fun that you have a nephew and niece! What are their names? How old are you, btw? (If I may ask)
Wow! You are very skilled at knitting to be making a sweater/cardigan! How long have you been knitting? Do you like to make handmade gifts a lot (like knitted/sewed/etc. things)?
I have crocheted baby blankets, scarves, shoulder bags/purses, flower headbands, simple yarn doilies, and small place mats (for setting things like books, candles, table lamps, etc. on). Hopefully I can try out hats sometime too. I am currently working on a baby blanket as a gift to a small family in our church who are adopting twin babies from a birth mom.
Haha, no, we do not have any pets. Mom doesn't like animals; at least, not enough to have pets. x) I know you do! What all does your family have?

I can't believe you would even think of leaving me behind in Ohio!!!!!!! It will be my funeral, and you better provide the coffin!!!! jk! jk! LOL! xD
Give Bethany and Carissa lots of hugs for me!

Hey, now, my coffin delivering is limited. LOL! xD
I will!!! =) =)
Jessica Rankin
Hi, Rosie!
Hope you and your family are doing well. :-)
Sorry it took me so long to write back; I hope that I can do better in the future. :-)
Do I like to paint a lot… well, we just started. :-) Mom used to paint a long time ago, and now I'm trying to learn, too. Been watching a lot of Bob Ross videos, and we've come to the conclusion that, even though it looks amazingly simple and easy, make no mistake: it's not. :-) Hopefully if we keep at it, we'll get better in time. I think we will. :-)
Yes, I guess you could say that I'm the baby. :-) (Kind of a big baby at this point, I would think.) :-)
My nephew's name is Joshua, and my niece's name is Emily. :-) Do you have any nieces or nephews yet?
I don't know that you could say that I'm very skilled at knitting: I like to think that I'm more hard-headed than anything else. Besides, a skilled knitter probably wouldn't have just spent a considerable amount of time taking the thumb bind-offs out of several finger-less gloves because the bind-off was too tight. (Yup, you can guess what I've been doing.) OR taking out the rim of a ~ahem~ hat that has given me nothing but misery from the day that I started it. I don't know that I'll be able to stand to look at it again. I think it shall be forever known as "the horrible hat". Hopefully now it doesn't look too bad. I do like to make knitted gifts, but unfortunately knitting is a lot like cross-stitch in that it takes forever to finish, so that by the time you get the project done, the occasion you were knitting the project for has come and gone. Forgive my knitting ramblings; I'm afraid it's an affliction of the knitty. ;:-) What are you going to try to do now that you're done with the baby blanket that you were working on? By the way, I've knit a market bag before.
For animals, we have an English mastiff, four cats, four zebra finches, two fish, two geese, a rabbit, six Nubian goats, and some chickens. You've probably seen my English mastiff on my profile picture (actually, she's the baby of the family) :-). We like animals. :-)
By the way, I just turned 23 on August 6th. It's kinda funny, people that see me still think that I look like I'm 17. :-) When I was 17, they thought I looked like I was 13-14. I think that I'm the oldest person on the forums. :-) If you know of anybody that is as old or older than me, I'd be curious to know who they were (on the forums, that is).
Are you reading anything at the moment?
His Servant
Rosie - Are you open tomorrow? And could I call? Because, we have stuff going on, so I'd have to try to do it in between when we're busy? Does that work from your end? And if we did get to talk, it wouldn't be for very long, because of all this studying…
God's Maiden of Virtue
I believe I can talk…sure, just call whenever you can, and I'll try to pick up. And I totally understand - I'm sure we'll have to cut back on our phone calling time limit… xD I really hope it works out! It feels like we haven't talked in a while!!
His Servant
Okay, I'll call when I can. If I don't call.. then you'll know that I wasn't able to, obviously. ;) I knowwww. We haven't talked on there in forever. And I was just sitting down to write back to your letter this afternoon. =)

jaw drops Ahhh, I haven't even thought about letters this week! So excited to hear from you soon!!!

In reply to our GS conversation…
"It's not exactly the English translation of the song. Y'see, Taeyang works for YG Entertainment, along with the members of the group he's in (BIGBANG), and other artists. When he released the sone, YG got some of their other artists to do covers of his song, just to see how it would be from others. So, Lydia's isn't the original song translated word-for-word, it's her own rendition. :)"
God's Maiden of Virtue
Ahhh, okay. That makes sense. =)
btw, sorry I have to post a whole new comment on your profile every time you reply…my computer is…frustrating.

So you know forsure now you won't be able to come to the graduation party? :(
God's Maiden of Virtue
Pretty much. :( :( Is very disappointed
Gloria K.
Hey Rosie! My favorite hymn is also Be Thou My Vision! Well it's actually one of my favorites, there's so many great songs out there.
Gloria
that is also one of my favorite hymns xD
God's Maiden of Virtue
Hi Gloria! I don't think I ever formally introduced myself! ;) A very belated welcome to Memverse! I hope you will enjoy being here. :)
Yes, it has such beautiful words! It has definitely risen to one of my favorites in the past few months. :) Why do you like Be Thou My Vision? Is there a particular part/verse that stands out to you, or has God used it in some way to work in your life? My favorite verse in it is verse 3 - "Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise. Thou mine inheritance, now, and always. Thou, and Thou only be first in my life. High King of heaven, my treasure Thou art."
I love that verse because it shows the importance of storing up our treasures in heaven, rather than seeking the treasures and praises of men, which are worthless and empty in the end. It also is a constant reminder to me that Christ, and Christ only ought to be first in my life, in all aspects of my life.
His Servant
Hi Rosie!! How are you doing? How are your verses going? Can't wait to see you in less than 2 weeks!! Praying for you, sister. =]
God's Maiden of Virtue
Bethany! So good to hear from you! I wanted to thank you for the note in the mail, earlier this week - I was very encouraged by it. Thank you so much, sister! You are a blessing!
I am doing well - worn out, exhausted, kept way too busy, ready to be done, but overall, blessed beyond measure! I am doing so much better than I deserve; and I've been continually blown away at how faithful and merciful the Lord has been to me lately.
My verses are going well. I was supposed to finish today, but I've been unmotivated. Sigh :P Lord willing, I'll finish up the last passage tomorrow, and begin the process of perfecting my verses.
And studying…was realizing just how little of Nahum I really know. But the Lord has provided so much more time for me this week, and I have learned a TON. Though, I'm sure, things that everyone was learning a month ago. ;) But I am entirely at peace about it, and desire that God would be glorified, no matter how I do.
How have you been doing?! Trying not to freeze down there? xD Can't wait for the warm FL weather!! It'll do my toes good! ;) Thank you sooo much for your prayers - they are so appreciated. Praying for you, too!
Looking forward to seeing you all!!! 12 DAYS!!! :D
His Servant
Rosie!! Good to hear from you too! Oh, you're welcome. It was no trouble… I always enjoy writing to you. =] Sounds like you are staying super busy, just like I am… I could repeat everything you said - exhausted but better than I deserve. The mercy and love of the Lord is beyond my comprehension. What a blessing it is to serve such a gracious Master. I'm glad you've been getting studying in. And yeah, I know what it's like to be unmotivated. =/ But heyyyyy! You're going to finish your verses tomorrow?! That's amazing, Rosie!! So happy for you! Hope soccer goes well for you tomorrow!
I'm glad. I'm can't wait to see you again! I've super missed our phone calls, but it just makes me look forward to nationals even more! I'll probably give you a huge hug when I see you. ;) I knowww! I can't wait for the warm weather! And thank you for the prayers - I really do appreciate them. I need them.
Ah! 12 daysssss I hope I can survive till then! Seeing you this year so much more than normal made me really enjoy being able to talk with you in person. It'll be such a blessing catching up on life soon! =]
God's Maiden of Virtue
Amen! He is sooo good to His children, even though we totally do not deserve it. As you said, beyond our comprehension…
I am so excited to know that I'll be finished memorizing tomorrow - that will take a huge load off my back. And the time that I used to be memorizing, I'll be using to master my verses…a longgg process, it feels like right now…but it'll be sooo worth it to know them with confidence.
Oh, thanks Bethany! I hope soccer goes well too. XD We're playing against the hardest team, but it'll be fun! :D
I've really missed our phone calls too…but it's for the best for right now, and we'll have a lot of Nationals to talk!!! (I hope! ;)
Are you guys going to the square dance after the dessert reception? No tickets this year. ;)
Haha, it's funny, I was thinking about needing to pack next week, and I was thinking about all the long-sleeved shirts I would need. And then I realized, "Wait, we're talking about FL! facepalm" XD
His Servant
^Yay! You're still here! I thought I missed you. Replying to your comment^
God's Maiden of Virtue
^Oh, haha, yeah sorry! I got occupied on another topic. XD Love your picture!! Just changed it, I noticed! :D^
His Servant
Amen! Amen!
I'm super excited for you sister, that you are finishing them! I know it's such a nice feeling to have them done. =] I am sure that you guys will do great at soccer! Even if you lose, if you played for God's glory, then that's all that matters. ;)
Yeah, me too. Oh. My. We'll have plenty to talk about, at least I will! There have been so many things that I've thought "Ah, I wish I could tell Rosie that.." ;) And yeah… I'll probably go to the square dance, but we'll see if I stay for the same thing. Since I knew that you guys don't do, I thought I might stop part way through and talk with you, but if you just wanted to do it with me…that would be fun. =] But obviously, I won't force you to if you don't want. :) What are your plans for that time?
Haha! I know! I'm looking forward to wearing short sleeve shirts without sweaters and jackets!
His Servant
^Yup. That's fine. I understand that. I just can't tell you how glad I am to be talking with you right now!! Yeah, just changed it. ;) Thought you would!^
God's Maiden of Virtue
Yes, all glory to God! I never would have gotten this far without Him!
Exactly! I've decided that I no longer play to win. Now, that doesn't mean I play to lose, or don't try (not at all!). I just play to the best of my ability for the glory of God alone - and if He chooses to let us win, then so be it. All glory to Him! And if He still chooses to let us lose, all glory to Him! =D It would be nice if I could do better tomorrow though. We'll see. =)
I know, right?! There have been so many times that I've thought that, and then also thought, "Rats. I'll probably forget by the time Nationals get here." :P
I am hoping to go to the square dance, just so that I can watch/spend time with my friends for a while longer. But I do not plan on dancing. XD I'm purposely planning on staying in my outfit from the closing ceremony so that I can't really. ;P
It'd be fun to see someone try to get me to dance. LOL
His Servant
Aw. Well, I'm gonna try to remember the stuff I want to talk/tell you about, so that we'll have stuff to say at nationals!!
Rosie. You sounded just like me the first year I did the square dancing. Before then, I was appalled of even the thought of doing it. I couldn't comprehend the fact that anyone would make me do it. But then Courtney pulled me in (much, much to my dismay, and I couldn't even get my family to help me out), but in the end it was lots of fun. XD And you really don't have to switch partners if you don't want to! I didn't my first year! I basically stuck by Courtney's side the whole evening. But, if you don't want to, I won't force you. But if you keep saying things like "It'd be fun to see someone try to get me to dance." I'll work on it.. XD Since you give me the option. =]
EDIT - Did Christian or Nicolas finish their verses yet?!
God's Maiden of Virtue
clears throat Bethany. I'm sure I sound just like you that first year. However, I am determined not to learn to enjoy it - for that would cause me to have to admit that I enjoy something that I was positive no one could get me to like. ^Horrors!^ I don't deny that someone might literally drag me into it, and make me do it, but learning to enjoy it? I don't know. It would still be very fun to watch someone try. And embarrassing in some sense. XD bursts out laughing I'm done trying to sound serious. LOL
God's Maiden of Virtue
In reply to your edit: YES!!! They both finished this week! :D
His Servant
laughs out loud WHAT?! You don't want to enjoy it, just because you'd have to admit that it was something you didn't think you would like? But, then, you would miss out on… on… enjoying it?! Which is sad. Which makes me want to pull you into it, so then I could show that you will enjoy it. ;) XD But really. It is lots of fun, and I may make you try. =) And I can't imagine you're going to be wearing something that you absolutely can't square dance in. =)
EDIT - That's WONDERFUL! So happy for them!
God's Maiden of Virtue
No, no! That was just me trying to sound serious, but not really. XD I don't think I'll enjoy it, because I've never liked dancing where I have to touch someone else - strange, but true. xD :P On top of that, I would have no idea what I'm doing.
Oh, I'm sure it's possible to square dance in the skirt I'll be wearing, but not easily, I would think. It is a very long, black skirt that almost reaches the floor; you can move however much you want to in it, but it is a heavier material. Like wool or cotton, or something.
EDIT: Yupperz!
His Servant
Haha. Okay. =) Yeah, I get that… that's what I thought the first year! Seriously! I just hated the thought… but it's fun. :) So, I totally get it, but I think you'll see that it's not that bad. And hey! I normally don't know what I'm doing, but there are normally enough people knowing what they are doing, that they can quickly explain. But, you wouldn't even try it… just for me?!
Sounds like me the first year… a long denim skirt down to the ground. Because I had no intention of doing it, I wasn't wearing something that was super easy to do it in. But it worked out just fine. :) I'm still thinking on whether I'll wear my pink dress again, and then change into a different skirt after closing ceremony.
