Hello All! My name is Bethany and I'm 17 years old. I'm the 3rd oldest of 7 children. I attend Christ Fellowship where my Dad is one of the pastors. I came to know the Lord in late 2010/early 2011 and baptized as an outward evidence to other several months later. What a joy to live for the Lord, and not for one's self!
I've been involved in the Bible Bee for 2 years and enjoyed every second of it! Though I have never advanced to Semi-finals or Finals, that is fine because I realize that the true treasure is having a closer relationship with Christ and having His Word stored in my heart! I've always been a Senior and will be a Senior for 2 more years :) I'm looking forward to 2013 where I will be participating with Carissa (senior), David (junior) and Ellia (primary).
Besides doing Bible Bee, reading/studying/memorizing the Bible,my two main other interests are piano and researching/writing papers. I've played piano since I was 5, though I haven't really enjoyed it until about 3-5 years ago. Since I don't have a teacher, I teach myself, which I'm content with – that way I can learn whatever songs I want :) I mainly play classical and arranged hymns and am early advanced.
I also enjoy researching different things about our world that we live in…from Biology and Presidents to States and Animals. Though, my favorite interest in researching is American History and Government.
My username came from the fact that I desire to live my entire life to the fullest for Christ, being His servant. Some of my favorite passages are Philippians 3 and Jeremiah 9:23-24.
In Christ Alone,

Congrats on memorizing your 400th verse… on your Bible Bee account, that is. :)
Emily H
You're doing two grades at once?
His Servant II (Bethany)
@SavedByGrace - Thanks! I was very excited that I memorized 123 verses today…hopefully the "Entire Bible" group will keep moving up on the leader-board! If you hadn't noticed, I joined that group recently :)
@Emily - Well, I'm behind in school, that's why. I'm doing 10th grade science and vocab, and pretty much everything else is 11th grade. I hope to complete my 11th grade math, grammar and literature by the end of December (and make a lot of progress on my other subjects).
Sarah Johnston
Up at 5:15!? :)
SavedByGrace
Oh, I certainly noticed that you joined! You brought us up about 1600 verses! :) Thanks! :)
His Servant II (Bethany)
@I4G - Yeah, yawns sleepily getting up that early and doing so much more school work today has made me awfully tired…
@SBG - You're welcome! I joined it, because, just like you, it's my goal to memorize the whole Bible!! (I think I have to many commas in that sentance, but I'm to tired to figure out how to fix it…)
Emily H
Wow. :) I think you are much more…..organized then I am at the moment. =D Sounds like you are keeping very busy!
God's Maiden of Virtue
Bethany, I just got your letter last night!! Thank you so much!! I'll try to write back as soon as possible (which might be a little while).
His Servant
@Rosie - I'm really glad that you got my letter! I'll be looking forward to hearing from you - your letters are always very encouraging to me! Oh, I understand if it takes you a while to write back - I think it's the first time that you got a 6 page letter from me. But, when you do write back, I'll be SUPER excited!! :D
God's Maiden of Virtue
Bethany - Oh, I don't mind your 6 page letter- I love long letters (and don't be suprised if mine is just as long, or longer!)! :D I usually read peoples' letters to me several times the day I receive it.
SavedByGrace
Hey, Paul wrote long letters! Just think of how many pages his letter to the Romans must have been! :P
His Servant II (Bethany)
@Rosie - "(and don't be surprised if mine is just as long, or longer!)" Oh, Rosie, I'd be thrilled to get a letter that long from you! Actually, it doesn't matter how long your letters are, I just enjoy getting them all! Haha - I normally do the same thing…I read the letter over and over as well! The other day, I went through and was organizing all my letters, and read almost every single one of yours that I had received from you :)
@Nicolas - I can't imagine writing a letter as long as the book of Romans! It already takes me a while to write 6 page letters (probably close to 2 hours)!
God's Maiden of Virtue
Happy New Year, Bethany!! This morning, I thought it felt so weird to be writng January 1st, 2013 on my dry-erase board. :)
His Servant
Oops, I guess I never replied to this one; sorry, Rosie! Isn't it hard to believe that it's already February?!
What do you use your dry-erase board for? :)
God's Maiden of Virtue
I know! Time seems to be going so quickly! It makes me think about how short life on this earth is.
Well, I really only use my dry-erase board for writing the date…..:}
Btw, you should be getting a letter from me this week. :)
His Servant
Hmm…that means, I'll get it today or tomorrow - that's exciting! Thanks Rosie!
BTW - did you see my comment to yours, on the Sewing, Knitting, Crocheting post?
God's Maiden of Virtue
Oh, no I didn't, I'll go check that right now…..
His Servant
Rosie - You should be getting two letters this week :) Also, is Saturday open for you, if I wanted to call?
God's Maiden of Virtue
Oh, I can't wait, Bethany- your letters are such a joy to receive! I'll let you know when I get them. :) And yes, I believe Saturday is open for me; anytime that day should be fine…..looking forward to that!
God's Maiden of Virtue
Bethany, I received your letters, and package yesterday- thank you SO much!! I was so suprised; thank you for your thoughtfulness, it was so sweet of you to think of me! I'll be writing back as soon as possible. :)
His Servant
I'm glad you got it, Rosie :) Can't wait to hear from you and can't wait to call you tomorrow!
I keep thinking "Is Saturday EVER going to come?!" :-) Time seems to be ticking ever so slowly over here…
2 Corinthians 5:17
You could call me…… :)
God's Maiden of Virtue
I feel the exact same way; "Time seems to be ticking ever so slowly over here" as well. It felt like Friday yesterday, and yet it feels like Friday today too, this week has just been so strange…..:)
2 Corinthians 5:17
I have weeks like those….. :P
His Servant
Yeah, yesterday felt like Friday as well :) I need to learn more patience, because I really can't wait for tomorrow! =)
Less than 24 hours, and 8 of them will be slept away :P
God's Maiden of Virtue
Well, not only that, but Tuesday felt like Monday, Wednesday felt like Tuesday, and Sunday didn't feel like any day (we were all sick that day, so we couldn't go to church)- well, maybe it felt like Saturday a bit (besides the working part). But anyway, yeah, this week has just been totally strange…..
Bethany- I think I must need some patience too- 'cause I'm excited for tomorrow as well! :)
His Servant
I'm sorry you couldn't go to Church on Wednesday. It looks like we might have to cancel on Sunday because of the snow, but I sure hope we don't have too!
God's Maiden of Virtue
Actually, I haven't been at Church since two Sundays ago; yeah, because I missed last Wednesday, last Sunday, and Wednesday this week (I'm dying to be at Church again!). :(
His Servant
That's to bad - I wouldn't like that either :( Especially, because our Church meets out our house, when I'm sick, I have to stay in bedroom. And I'm thinking the whole time "And the meeting is going on pretty much on the other side of these walls!"
Do you have more things on your list to talk about? I have something in mind that I could bring up… :)
God's Maiden of Virtue
Oh, that must be awful! :( When we were sick on Sunday, I looked at the clock every so often and would think about what would be going on at Church at that time. So not fun!
I'm sure I do, I'd have to check later on this evening; I'm interested to find out what you have in mind…….I think you're making me as excited for tomorrow as you! :D
His Servant
Oh, I don't know if anyone could be more excited than me! :) I'm sure I've told Amy every day this week "I get to call my friend on Saturday!" :D
But, you're going to have to wait till tomorrow to find out what it is, if that's okay with you!
God's Maiden of Virtue
Oh, yes, that's perfectly fine with me; I meant to say that in my previous comment- oops! Besides, that means more excitment for tomorrow! :)
His Servant
Nice talking with you this afternoon, made time go a little faster! And looking forward to tomorrow!
We might be going sledding in a little bit! :)
God's Maiden of Virtue
It's kind of funny imagining all of us sitting at computers at the same time (if you know what I mean).
Well, I am going to leave Memverse now, I enjoyed talking to you- and yes, it sure made time seem to go a bit faster! Talk to you tomorrow, Bethany!
His Servant
Rosie - I don't know if you'll see this before tomorrow…but I'm thinking about calling you in the morning, rather than afternoon. Does that work with you?
God's Maiden of Virtue
Well, what time would you be calling in the morning? I think any time between 10:00a.m. and 1:00p.m. (9:00a.m. and 12:00.p.m. for you) would work best for me. Is that okay?
His Servant
Rosie - I was thinking (if you like this idea), when we come across verses for our topic that we're studying, we could share them with each other on here. Sound good?
God's Maiden of Virtue
That would be great! I'm working on that part tonight so, I could share a few verses that I find tomorrow- it would be funny if we found many of the same verses (which we probably will). :)
His Servant
Hello Rosie ~ In your translation that you use, does it have the word used very often? In the ESV, the word isn't used very much. I think though, that "humble" is used in all other cases, when referring to "meek/ness". Also, are we just going to look up verses for that word, or are we going to look up verses that specifically talk of the three things that make up meekness? :)
Here are some verses that talk about it specifically in my translation: Matthew 5;5, Numbers 12:3, Psalm 37:11, Galatians 5:22-24, Colossians 3:13, James 3:13 and Isaiah 29:19. (I really like Psalm 22:26, 147:6, and Zephaniah 2:3 in the KJV also!) Which ones did you find and will you memorize? It would be neat if we memorized the same ones.
Lastly, I'm thinking about compiling a paper about everything we learned, after I get your things that you're compiling :)
God's Maiden of Virtue
Yeah, I'm using the New King James, and it mostly says humble, rather than meek- but I think that will be fine. And to answer your other question…..you really could do either if you want. A lot of the verses I have looked up talk about the meek, but I also have several that talk specifically about the quality.
Here are some I've found (and some are the same as the ones you found): Numbers 12:3, Psalm 22:26, Psalm 25:9, Psalm 37:11, Psalm 149:4, Isaiah 29:19, Isaiah 61:1, Zephaniah 2:3, Matthew 5:5, Matthew 11:29, Galatians 5:22-24, Colossians 3:13, 1 Peter 3:4, and 1 Peter 3:15. Some of these are talking about specific people who displayed meekness, so I decided to add them to my list. And presently, I do not know which ones I will memorize, so I'll probably figure that out as I go along. :)
Hopefully I will have your letter sent tomorrow morning; I had thought that since it would take me a couple days to work on this project, and it would take a few days to get to you, we probably end up fully working on it next week. Does that sound good to you?
His Servant
Yes, next week as well sounds good to me! I think, depending on how it goes, the following week after next might be good as well, that we have plenty of time for evaluation/accountability for our application section.
Can't wait to get your letter! :)
God's Maiden of Virtue
Yes, I think this will be very beneficial!
And, just so you know, I'm about to get off Memverse because I need to go feed my baby brother, Jude. :) So I probably won't see your comments after this one (at least not until tomorrow!) :-)
God's Maiden of Virtue
Bethany, I just sent the letter this morning!
His Servant
Thank you very much, Rosie! I appreciate you taking the time to write to me :) I should get the letter on Monday, because we'll be gone through Sunday. I'm looking forward to getting the papers you wrote for our study! Would the 9th work for you, for a call?
There! I updated my page :)
God's Maiden of Virtue
Well, I think the 9th would work, but we'll see- you never know when something might come up…..:)
Btw, when are you and your family leaving for your trip?
His Servant
Yeah, I could have something come up then as well :)
We're leaving in two hours…I need to go in just a minute to clean out our van and things like that…and finish packing! =)
God's Maiden of Virtue
Oh, then could you tell Amy 'Happy (early) birthday' for me? Thanks! Hope your trip goes well! :-)
His Servant
Rosie! I got your letter – thanks SO much! I'll try to reply as soon as I can, which might take a little longer than normal, because I have to catch up on school and such. I'll tell you all about our trip on our next phone conversation, okay? :)
God's Maiden of Virtue
I'm glad you got the letter- I was thinking about it a lot today. :) Take your time with your letter, Bethany, there's no hurry (plus, schoolwork is a bit important) :-) All the more anticipation! Looking forward to our next phone conversation!
