I used to use that site before I heard about Memverse. That's sorta why I don't use it anymore… :P

But it is a good site to use if you want to review verses multiple times in one day, or if you want to see how fast you can type (the timer tells you your words per minute based on how quickly you typed the verse).

Hey, so_sew! Nice to see you on Memverse! :) How do you like it? Who referred you to it?

As to ScriptureTyper, I have heard of it, but was never really interested.

I like that Memverse tells you what to review.

Otherwise, I pretty much like ScriptureTyper. The reason is that I can review and learn my verses whenever I want and as many times as I want.

I tend to memorize things better by doing something with the information I'm trying to memorize (such as typing it out). [It's actually the only way I can memorize, which I just figured out and am excited to apply towards Bible Bee]

As to referrals, everybody always asks who referred me or who I'm going to put as referral. I didn't know who to give the honor to since I pretty much found it myself by "googling" bible bee, so I didn't put anyone as a referral.

I just signed up to ScriptureTyper too! One of the reasons I did it was that I am using the ESV translation for Bible Bee. The cards for Bible Bee use the 2001 copyright of the Bible while Memverse uses the 2011 ESV copyright. There are just minor differences between the two copyrights like in the 2 Tim. 3:16-17 passage there is a word different. The 2001 uses the word "competent" and the 2011 uses the word "complete"! Does anyone know of a way to work around this problem on Memverse?

I think that it is possible for the moderators to create a new translation choice for the ESV, as they did for the NIV back in 2011. I am not totally sure about this, and I don't know how much effort it would take on their part, but my guess is that it is possible.

EDIT–Okay, I just went back onto ScriptureTyper after having been absent for months, and I am amazed at the new format! I will probably be using it more often now…

EDITEDEDIT–Wow, I just raised myself from 654th place to 168th!

I just created a Bible Bee group on ScriptureTyper called "Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church," after the name of the church that will be hosting the local Bee in northeast Ohio. Anyone from this Bible Bee that is on ScriptureTyper want to join?

I started using ScriptureTyper today. To be honest, I love it. Memverse seems better for long-term retention, while ScriptureTyper seems more focused on practicing however much you like, which is a feature that's missing from Memverse (though maybe not for long! :D).

The only thing that throws me off about it is that you have to use the proper punctuation, which of course a Memverser like me is not used to! But I still think it's a great site. :D

I'll probably be using both it and Memverse.

If you go under "Preferances" (not sure exactly where it is) you can choose not to have to use punctuation, except at the very end. I know, I'm so used to no punctuation, too! ;D

My sister just showed me around a little on ScriptureTyper and I am definitely interested!
I know…proper punctuation is going to be a pain in the wrists. One thing for sure….my backspace button is going to get a workout! :-)

SBG - you just might see me on there pretty soon. Right now it's too late, and I don't have time to create an account, so….hopefully tomorrow!

Actually, like RA(BM) said, you do not have to have punctuation–and actually, you do not even have to do it at the end; you can just push the Space Bar or Enter to finish the verse. :)

I actually think that's the 2007 version that the Bee is using…

We're hoping to fix the ESV issue within the next week. And yes, we're also hoping that we can get a nice verse-learning type of feature eventually too.

They made it really clear though, that they weren't doing that because the cards were infallible and the Bible wasn't, but because every year, new updates for the Bibles come out and that change a few of the words…making it hard on Bible Bee which requires the verses to be word-perfect.
Just to add to what you said, Bethany. :)

Here's exactly what they said:

"Contest Note:

We are aware that there are some discrepancies between the text of the ESV Bible Memory cards and the ESV Bibles that were sent to families. Due to slight edits that the publishers of Bibles make on a regular basis behind the scenes, our stock of Bibles that are sent out to the contestants are sometimes of unavoidably different versions of the same translation. This was the case with the King James in 2011, and this year, we cannot purchase ESV Bibles all of a consistent publication.
The policy of the Bible Bee has been to place final authority in the printed Bibles that we send out (Competition Rulebook, p.7, #7). We feel that this backs up the message of our belief in an inerrant Bible in the original language. (SKF Statement of Faith). For the purposes of the contest, however, we must have one consistent standard on which to base our word-perfect standard for oral recitation.

In light of these factors that are out of our control, and in the desire to avoid confusion, we will now base the test materials on the Bible Bee-issued memory cards, and the cards will be the final authority in the case of any discrepancy between the text on the cards and the Bibles that are sent to contestants. We encourage parents to clarify to their children that there aren’t mistakes in the Bible, but small variations are part of an ongoing translation/publishing process. We believe that the Bible is without error in the original language- it’s just another great reason to invest in Hebrew and Greek word studies to dig into God’s truth!"

I just saw that the ESV on Memverse was changed to the Bible Bee copyright on the cards! I am so glad, because now I don't have to worry about memorizing something "wrong" on memverse :-) Thanks so much Alex Watt!

Is there any difference between the 2 websites. If so, what is the difference?

Issac … Scripturetyper you can review verses whenever you want, ST you can group verses into passages, and a few other things. If you join, make sure to also join the Lexington BB group too :)

I use both ScriptureTyper and Memverse. The more times reviewing a verse the better!!!! I'm in the Millard Alliance Bible Bee group.

Just joined Memverse Bible Bee on Scripture typer. Really enjoying it I think that Memverse is the better tool though. I don't know if I could have that many verses memorized on Scripture Typer.

I can only memorize something effectively and efficiently on a computer. I like scripturetyper.com for memorizing verses and Memverse.com for reviewing verses, bible bee events and socializing:).

In my opinion, scripturetyper.com is for if you want to actually sit down and memorize a verse such as for bible bee. This is because you can type it as many times as you need to and there are a couple of different modes to get you there. However, scripturetyper.com is kind of hard to navigate around the website and figure it out. One thing you should be sure and do is got to your account settings and set it to let you skip punctuation. You can also set it to make you type the reference- which I like to help with verse recall.

Memverse is good for constant and consistent review of multiple verses. Memverse also has a very good social aspect such as these forums as well as the competitiveness of the multiple leaderboards. Memverse also has events and tools for the Bible Bee and scripture memory such as the live quizzes and practice tests.

Hi. Glad to see that many of you are trying out and enjoying scripturetyper.com I recently got an exciting email from the creator of Scripture Typer, Brett Golson, and praise God that He is using Brett and other talented people like him to spread a passion for Scripture and provide tools to help people memorize the Bible. I look forward to more and more partnership between the two sites in the future. As many of you have mentioned, Scripture Typer is fantastic for people who want to practice multiple times on a certain verse or passage to get it down.

Please pray for Brett as he continues to work on Scripture Typer and for future potential partnership, sharing, and/or mutual encouraging and inspiring.as we both are used by God to build up His saints around the world.

Under the scripture memory tab, I clicked preferences. Then next to the title "Verse Reference", I clicked "Type It." Then click, "Save preferences."

You guys. For everyone who is in the Memverse Bible Bee group on ScriptureTyper, add the verses you already know for Bible Bee, and master them on there so that we move up to first place. Right now we're third, and we could easily become 1st if we had enough people reviewing their verses on there.

Okay, so I have a question for all those who are on ST. Do any of you know how to unmake friends…meaning I have friends on there but I want to take them off of being my friend on there?
