Sorry, I didn't know you could even *make* Friends on ST....

So I'm guessing you're not Hannah4horses who asked me to be her friend, right? I've been trying to figure out who she is!

I just created a Bible Bee group on ScriptureTyper called "Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church," after the name of the church that will be hosting the local Bee in northeast Ohio. Anyone from this Bible Bee that is on ScriptureTyper want to join?

Me!!!!! :)

I have a question for any ST user… I tried to join today, but it's not logging me in. I put in all the necessary information on the Sign Up page, but the only thing that happens once I click "Join" is that the text "Create Your Free Account" in the center of the screen disappears. When I tried to log in using my address and password I put into the Sign Up page, a box that says "Logging In…" comes up but it never actually logged me in. I was wondering, am I supposed to receive an e-mail confirmation of my new account?

Ummmm…I haven't been on ST in forever. I don't know why it won't let you join… Maybe you should check if you should receive a confirmation email… Other then that I really don't know what to do. Or, I could ask on the forums over there about that for you…

I will check to see if I got a confirmation email. However, I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with another website that ST uses that I can't access.

Hmmm…I don't know what other website they use that you couldn't access…Do you want me to ask on the forums wen I get on next?

Sorry for taking a while to respond… I checked it out on my mom's computer today. It turned out that I hadn't ever gotten an account. I believe the problem is the filtering. Sure, you can ask them about it on the forums.

I finally caught up with all my review on scripturetyper :) They have changed it now so that they will not increment your number of reviews unless there was a 6 hour gap since when you last reviewed it. That way, you can review all you like without skyrocketing when you will review it next. They finally released an app for android too now! Have any of you tried it before? It is quite expensive but I wouldn't mind supporting them if it is good :)

I have the iPhone app, and it's pretty good.

~ You can illustrate the verses you're memorizing (drawing pictures)
~ You can record yourself saying it so you can listen to it a lot (and put music in the background, if you want)
~ There's also flashcards, which is basically what the name implies
~ And then there's the regular features that are on the website

It looks really good! But I think the Android version has taken out the illustrating part :(

I have heard about ScriptureTyper.com from many people but don't know much about it. What is it like? Is it different then Memverse? Do you like it better then Memverse?

I like it quite a lot. The only thing is, the length of time between reviews grow very slowly, so it is easy to get overambitious, and then very hard to keep all the verses reviewed. I really like the prayer feature though. You can pray for other scripturetypers and for their prayer requests and then they can see who prayed for them. There is a lady on there who has been praying for me almost every day since I joined! They also have an very good app ( from what I've heard) that a lot of people use. Looking at the top 500, probably over 90% use the app! Even though it costs upwards of $5.

Thank you Caleb! That was the kind of review I needed to hear before deciding to join or not. I still haven't decided yet… but when I do I'll let you know. Thanks again! :)

I FINALLY joined ScriptureTyper and like it! I don't type my verses into Memverse right now, but ScriptureTyper pretty much forces you to do it, so I guess I'll have to start again. :P Who knows how long it will last. It will probably be a good help for me during BB season, though!

Oh, BTW, if you want, send me a friend request! :)

We like it better than MV for memorizing BC they have a mobile app which is really handy since I'm never on my computer.

I don't have a mobile, but that does sound handy. :)

BTW, @all, I figured out it might be hard to find me unless I give you my group - so I'm in Bible Bee South Texas as well as Memverse Bible Bee. :) I already found a few of you guys and sent a friend request.

And I have no clue…is there a guy with that many?!

I just joined ST. :) I doubt I'll use it as much as I use Memverse, but I'll "experiment" with it a bit. ;)

Emmy, what's your name on there?? :)

Last year's BB verses don't count any more for the group thing xDxDxD

Emmy

Ummm, Emmy. xD

Okay, but I don't do Bible Bee, so that doesn't really matter to me. It'd be great if sometime you could tell me more about how to use Scripture Typer. It doesn't seem to be as straightforward as Memverse. :P

D31c974fe43f1230dbcb183971bfbdec?s=128&d=mm

Emily H

Okay xD I'll see if I can find you… do you have a picture up on there?

Yeah, it is pretty confusing. :P There should be three tabs at the top of the page. Under My Verses you can join groups and see what groups your in, add verses in collections (Like I have all of Ecclesiastes 1 in a collection, all the Summer Bible Bee verses from last year in a collection, etc) and then "uncategorized" verses. When you want to memorize a verse, click on it from that page. And when it is memorized, it will put a red check-mark next to it.
Review is kind of like Memverse's "My Verses"…it has a list of all the verses you have memorized on there arranged in order of test date. If you have verses overdue for review there will be a red button at the top that says, "You have ___ amount of verses to review".
Verse Library just has some collections of verses pre-made that you can add if you want.
At the bottom of the screen there should be a bar with different sections on it, if you click on "My Account" it will take you to your settings. "Ranking" will take you to the "Review" page which also has the ST leaderboard on it.
The other sections just tell you your average WPM how many verses you have and such.
It's kinda hard to get to your ST "postoffice box" so this is the link: http://scripturetyper.com/postoffice Also http://scripturetyper.com/community/myfriend will show you a list of all your friends on ST.

I'm not the greatest at explaining things, so please tell me if that didn't make sense. :P

Emmy

Thanks, Emily! That was really helpful :)

No, I don't have a pic up yet, but I'll try to upload one later on.

Hey, what's your ST name? There are a trillion Emilys. xD If you could give me the names of a few other Memversers, that'd be great too :D

33caa731aa135531af9eb65eabf44803?s=128&d=mm

Emmy

Since there are already like 5 other Emmys, I changed my name on there to EmmyLeigh. You should be able to find me much easier now! xD

@All Scripture Typers— Okay, so I changed my name again, this time to Emmy S, and I have my pic up =) So for anyone who wants to friend me, it shouldn't be hard to find me at all anymore. Just search "Emmy S." :)

I've been using Scripture Typer for a while now, and I love it. I use it the most out of all my online memorization tools.

I don't know why they haven't put it up yet… What I've been doing for now is entering the verses I'm working on into "Uncategorized."

Here's my Facebook post outlining the differences between MemVerse and ScriptureTyper

I wanted to share a couple of online resources for doing Scripture memorization. One is MemVerse, the other is ScriptureTyper.

Both of them make it easy to choose verses to memorize, automate review, and give you opportunities to level up as you progess in your memory work. The biggest distinction is in how the system handles the review of the passages you are studying.

In Memverse, after you review/study a passage, you tell Memverse how well you did on a 5-point scale. It uses that information to automatically and intelligently provide more review for the passages you know less well and less review for the passages you know the best.

In ScriptureTyper, there is a focus on developing keyboarding skills, and ScriptureTyper decides whether you know the verse or not based on if you typed it correctly and above a certain percentage of your average typing speed.
I use ScriptureTyper for our kids, because I love the benefit of developing keyboarding skills at the same time as memorizing God's word.

I use MemVerse myself, because it is a little smarter in spacing out review for verses I know well.

If you are interested in hiding God's word in your heart so that you may not sin against Him, there are some great free tools available to support your efforts.
