Who is homeschooled on here? What are your school subjects, and what curriculum(s) do you use?
SavedByGrace
You're probably going to get a lot of responses on this… :D
I am homeschooled, and I use the Bob Jones curriculum. I am in tenth grade this year, and I have six subjects altogether: Bible, Biology, English/Literature, Geometry, Spanish 2, and World History (I am waiting for after Nationals to do Bible class–the Bible Bee is counting as my Bible class for this semester).
Courtney M.
My school subjects this year are Math (Saxon), Science, (Apologia), English/History (Notgrass), Writing, Geography, Spanish 3, Music (Harp and Piano), and Bible. I am off school right now though for BB.
Sarah Johnston
I am doing Math (Saxon), Chemistry (Apologia), Writing, Cultural Geography, Spanish (Rosetta Stone), Music (Piano and Violin), Reading, and Bible Bee.
I am finishing 11th grade because we go year-round, from January to December. So January 2013, I will start 12th grade.
I am not off school right now for BB, especially because I am preparing for the PSAT. :)
Courtney M.
What are you preparing for? What does PSAT stand for?
Isaac
I am homeshcooled and use abeka and teaching textbooks.
Dance4Him
Hey!!! Are you using america the beautiful?
GlorifyGod<3
I Homeschool and I use so many different resources.
Math: Saxon Math
English: Grammar Voyage Series
Spelling: Wordly Wise
Reading: So many books! Any books I can get my hands on if they are Philippians 4:8.
Science: Apologia books, specifically General Science and Marine Biology
Language: Rosetta Stone Spanish
Electives:American Sign Language
Activities: Ballet, Piano, and Singing
Bible: We do Bible Study every morning, right now it is 1 Timothy because of my sister, she is in Bible Bee
History: The World of Columbus and Sons
I am in 7th grade, and am very busy, I would also consider riding in the car to all my other siblings activities an activity in and of itself
Courtney M.
No, I don't use America the Beautiful, but is that for geography? I think I've heard of it.
Dance4Him
It's actually American history.
RedeemedByTheLamb
My family homeschools.
We use all the Rod and Staff curriculum for all subjects in 1st through 3rd grade. (Reading, Phonics/English, Math, Penmanship, Spelling, Science, Social Studies, Health)
4th grade through 6th grade we use Saxon math and Rod and Staff for the other subjects. (Reading, English, Spelling, Bible, History, Science)
7th grade through 10th grade we use Rod and Staff for all subjects (Reading, English, Bible, History, Spelling) except Math and Science. Math is Saxon and Science is Apologia.
This is in general. But as is the case probably with most homeschoolers, one can be in one grade level in one subject but a completely different grade level in another, particularly science.
I'm interested to see what everyone else does.
Ianator
I am in tenth grade and I use:
Bob Jones in Literature, and History
Teaching Textbooks for Math
Glencoe language arts for English
The Pace for Science
Tell Me More for Spanish
And Typing Tutor for Typing.
Courtney M.
Oh, well then I know what you're talking about! My family actually has that book, but I have never used it before. Have you?
Dance4Him
Yes, we used it last year. do you know if you will be doing it?
GlorifyGod<3
How long has everyone homeshcooled?
Courtney M.
@ICAMHIFHIMLMSMS: I'm not sure, it depends. :-)
@Grace Harrison: I have homeschooled for all my life.
Ian R.2
I have been homeschooled for all my life, and so has my older sister.
Marie Morris
I graduated from homeschool last year.
RedeemedByTheLamb
I was homeschooled my whole life until I graduated nearly 2 years ago.
ServantOfTheKing
I'm homeschooled, been homeschooled all of my life, praise God! I use diffferent curriculums for different things. I'm also taking online classes with TPS for the first time this year. It will be very interesting.
Courtney M.
So what is your favorite curriculum that you use? (@ everyone)
@Marie Morris and so_sew - Congratulations on graduating!
Oh, and Marie, I noticed your profile picture. Are you interested in harps?
ServantOfTheKing
I like Konos, for overall studying, and Teaching Textbooks for math.
RedeemedByTheLamb
My favorite is the Rod and Staff curriculum.
ZachB
We use Saxon Math for math and Robinson Curriculum for Reading, and I can't remember the rest of them
SoulWinner
I think I am going to use Rod and Staff for History and Switched On Schoolhouse for Math. I don't know about the rest. :P
Sarah Johnston
We also use Robinson Curriculum for reading. It's a lot of books, but a really good selection.
Emma
I'm homeschooled! I am in 3rd grade. I do math, spelling, Bible, handwriting, learning how correctly to write stories and stuff, a different kind of writing where I finish a story, grammar, and study of the USA. I don't have reading because I already read so much! I get mad if I don't have anything to read when I go to bed. The curriculums I use are: Math, Math-U-See, grammar, Easy Grammar Systems, spelling & Bible, Christian Liberty Press, handwriting, A Reason For - (whatever kind of school it is), learning how correctly to write stories and stuff, A Writing Skills Series, A different kind of writing where I finish a story, Story Starters, study of the USA, Cantering the Country.
I like homeschooling!
Courtney M.
I love reading too. I think my favorite actual school would be Wisdom Booklets or writing. I don't do reading for school, because I am already way ahead of that, and was when I was 5.
Emma
When you were 5? Whoa! I think my least favorite school subject is either spelling or writing, but my favorite is reading. that doesn't really make sense, does it?
Courtney M.
Yeah, when I was 5. I wasn't quite as far as I am right now then, though. :-) I've never had much trouble with spelling.
Creeper
Me. Math, Reading etc.. Saxon, Sonlight.
EDIT: I have been homeschooled all my life and im 14.
God's Maiden of Virtue (Bible Bee)
I am in 7th grade and am very thankful to have been homeschooled all my life.
I use Bob Jones for all of my school subjects: Bible, World Studies, Fundamentals of Math, Life Science, Writing and Grammer, and Literature.
SoulWinner
Does anyone here go to a co-op?
Courtney M.
We used to go to co-op, but with 8 going on 9 children, it is kind of hard to commit to going every single week.
SoulWinner
That's true.Plus the cost would be very high. I am an only child so I have no idea how frantic it would be to try and get 8 kids to a co-op :D
Kylie Rose (Heart For China)
I am homeschooled!! I have been for 10 years now.
I use Far Above Rubies and then Aleks for math and Transparent Language for (Mandarin) Chinese
My brother uses Blessed is the Man and Aleks for math.
We both take Sign Language and i am hoping to learn braille but not with a curriculum i'll probably just check out a bunch of books.
I'm in the tenth grade and my brother is in the ninth.
And i love reading, spelling and writing :)

Kylie, I am looking for ways to learn other languages I would like to tackle Chinese (Mandarin) when I am done with the NBB. I am also (well I used to be homeschooled) I'm taking College online right now from TESC with Verity. :) Anyway, how much does Transparent Language cost does it give you a good grip of the language? What other languages are there with transparent would it be possible to learn Malay and/or Indonesian ? Sorry about that long post just got excited :)
Kylie Rose (Heart For China)
You can get transparent language from your library. I don't know what library's use it. but it is like Rosetta Stone. If you go through your library (as i do) It is free. My library is Washington Centerville (it's in ohio.) They do have Malay and Indonesian. The cool thing is they have a blog for all the languages so you can learn more than what the program tells you :) I hope this helps :)
Emma
Well, I haven't had much trouble with spelling either, but I still don't like it. I only get about two out of twenty words wrong, but today I got two out of forty wrong!
Courtney M.
That is pretty good. What grade are you in?
GlorifyGod<3
I am going to be in a spelling Bee! I am so excited!! :):)
GlorifyGod<3
I am going to be in a spelling Bee! I am so excited!! :):)
Courtney M.
Spelling bees are really fun. I did it twice at Family Educators Alliance of South Texas, and had a great time. Of course, since I'm studying for Bible Bee now, I can't really do spelling bee at the same time.
SavedByGrace
I've won a spelling bee before! It had about sixty kids from grades 1-7 in it; at the time, I was in seventh grade. Spelling has never been ANY trouble at all for me. :)
2 Corinthians 5:17
I was reading when I was 4 1/2 :)
Matthew Minica
God's Bondslave, I received a coupon in the mail recently for Verity Institute because I qualified for Nationals. I was wondering, how are you liking it? Would you recommend it to me? College is still a few years away for me, but I thought I might ask you while I'm thinking about it. :)
Emma
I am in 3rd grade. If I wasn't homeschooled, I'd be in 2nd, but my mom starts teaching us earlier than most people do. (For instance, right now she's teaching my four-year-old sister to read.)
Wait a minute… You're studying for Bible Bee? It's over! (at least for me). Did you go to Nationals?
I've always wanted to be in a spelling bee, but never have. From what I've read and heard, though, spelling bees are really fun!
@ Jesus-Paid-It-All: That's cool! If you read my comment to Courtney, then you know that my mom is teaching my four (and a half) year-old sister to read.
Febah M.
I'm in 9th grade and am currently doing Algebra 2(umm…I forgot the name of the company), English/Grammar(Rod&Staff), Biology(Apologia), World History(Rod&Staff), Latin 1(Bob Jones), and of course, Bible Bee!! I use Robinson Curriculum for reading as well.
I have been homeschooled for 6 years.
RedeemedByTheLamb
Our family starts schooling early, too. I taught my 4.5 year old brother how to read.
Hannah
You have studied Chinese?! That is neat that you found a curriculum for it! I was also homeschooled; I studied Spanish and French in high school, but I had the opportunity to study a little Chinese in college. It was one of my favorite classes, although I wasn't able to keep going and take enough to become fluent.
