Audios Dramas we have finished or are working on
Started by EmmaEmma
Is anybody (besides me and my brother) working on their own audio drama? Or has finished one? I am making one where a little girl (me) named Robin and her grandpa (OCTSRIS) go in a cave and Robin finds a box of treasure with a key on top. They open it, and inside they find much valuable old stuff. For instance, they find a crown and a rich lady's evening gown. They find lots of baking stuff too, and when they get home, Robin's mom, (my real mom) opens it while Robin's dad, (OCTSRIS) Robin, (me, of course) Sam, Robin's younger brother, (Papa's helper) and Robin's Grandpa (OCTSRIS) watch. And when Robin's mom get's out an old-fashioned sifter, Sam says, 'Enough of this baking stuff! What's next?' The next things are some old pots and pans. And guess what was at the very bottom of the box of treasure? A tract! And I'm not done, so maybe I'll also put in a Memverse flyer. 'But I assure you, I am NOT selling this!' ~ Robin, from Robin's Hidden Cave (my audio drama).

I have always wanted to do an audio drama! Yours sounds very interesting. What kind of equipment do you use, if any?
Courtney M.
I have never recorded this, but Matthew and I like to play out "Cookies", from Frog and Toad. It is hilarious!
Emma
Oh, I just use my brother's recorder. We don't have any special equipment.
@ Courtney Minica: I've never heard of it! What is it like?
Courtney M.
You've never heard of Frog and Toad by Arnold Lobel? Well, he wrote the books anyway, and the videos were based off of the book. You really should look for the video at your library. The books are good too, but the videos are funnier.
God's Maiden of Virtue
We have Frog and Toad; we also have one called Adventures of Frog and Toad.
Emma
No, I haven't heard of it.

In my first comment at the end, I made a qoute from Robin. Actually, I just thought I would put that qoute in. I actually hadn't yet, and I ended up not. :) They take the box back to a cave so others can learn the Gospel. They're already Christians.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Can you listen to it online?
Random Narnian Warrior (Tarva/Abi)
I made an audio drama (10 minutes long, maybe?) about a greyhound named Augusto who moves into a new neighborhood and meets all the dogs there. It was sort of a prequel to another, longer one I started (but never finished) called Puppy Love.
@ Courtney: They made movies of the Frog and Toad books??

I'm making an audio drama…but I have to admit, a lot of it is copying AiO… :}

Has anyone ever made homemade sound effects? So far I've made a fire (from jiggling foil), thunder, rain (with rice-ish stuff), flattening tire (letting the air out of a balloon), blowing up a balloon (by rubbing a washcloth on a towel), a zipper (from quickly sliding my fingernail on a blanket), footsteps (with footsteps, of course… :P), skiing (from sliding foil on a cookie sheet), and some other stuff. Do you guys have any ideas for more?
Mommy's Helper
no. I'm not finished with it yet

Do you have any particular recording program? One of my many and varied interests is audio dramas- I would really like to get good at them, and then work out a deal with Robert Elmer to do his Jerusalem series.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Is there a certain program anyone uses for their recording/adding sound effects?

So, this is our first audio drama; it's kind of lame, but it was fun to make. ;) We just used my brother's camera and ripped the audio off of the video and edited it on Audacity. http://soundcloud.com/meckle-media/how-to-tell-bad-news

"The Time Machine" is nearly done! All I have left is to add the credits and music. Does anyone want me to post the link when it's done?
Mommy's Helper
YES!!!!!
Man, I was hoping you'd need me because of all the girls in it. :(
Bethany Meckle
Yeah, there's a family I know that I kind of wrote the story for. But maybe I'll get a story I need you for! That would be so cool. :)
Mommy's Helper
Mmkay. Nathan will let me use his recorder (under supervision) if you ever need (or just want (or just happen to find a place (or make a place))) for me.
Bethany Meckle
That would be great! My mom loved the idea, too. :)
Mommy's Helper
And she doesn't even know me!!!!! Why did she like it so much?
Bethany Meckle
She loves all your poems and the comments on my blog. ;) Plus, I keep telling her how excited I would be to meet you!

Mommy's Helper
Oh! :)
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
I'm working on my first one, called The Twin Diamonds.
Mommy's Helper
Cool!
@Bethany: I'd love to meet you too sometime… though… even if we both make it to Nationals, we probably won't go. It's a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG drive.
Bethany Meckle
Oh, man. :( I REALLY hope something changes (like free airplane tickets or something! :D) and you would go! That would be the BEST place to meet! :D
Mommy's Helper
Free airplane tickets? Great idea! I'll call up a plane company and ask if they have any! jk
Yes, but I'm sure we probably won't. No unless all of us made it, Nathan (senior) ranking 1, Caleb (junior) ranking 1, and me and Joseph (primaries) ranked 1 and 2 and we still probably wouldn't go then. The SKF didn't choose the best place for Nats, I think.

Or the best time. I mean, seriously? Disney World at Halloween???
Bethany Meckle
Yeah, Nashville is better… but I'm looking forward to (hopefully!) Florida, cause we've got other stuff we're already planning for if we make it! :D

We were at the Mall of America on Halloween once… BAD IDEA. And at the end of Ramadan when all the Muslims were there. BAD IDEA. We seem to pick really bad times to go… :P
