Honestly, I don't know how we didn't have this topic in the first place but here it is: One topic to rule them all! This is where we can discuss the books, movies, games, and whatever pertains to the awesome series of books, The Lord of the Rings!

are you excited about the Hobbit movie(s)?

Very excited, but I hope that they stick to the books!

Who (or what) is your favorite character? Mine is Gimli.

@Sam–I'm almost sure they'll stick to the books, with how long the movies are going to be!

I love the Lord of the Rings and just for the record lol me and my brother got the lego vidio game that day it came out at best buy a week tomorrow and we beat the whole game.. so we finished it Saturday night so if anyone needs help…. we no how to get through every level as for the hobbit I read the book and it's very fun… the only thing I didn't like was the way the elves were betrayed as being these goofy happy go lucky creatures… but being it was a childrens book it had to b more lighthearted :-) I think they will keep to the book but they r also going to add in things from the lost tales, the simerilian I. Think I spelled that wrong (which I am in the process of reading) into the story hence the three movies.. idk if I can pick a fav charactor they r all pretty boss lol :-)

Don't tell me ANYTHING about that game! lol I half-cheated on Star Wars Lego II, but I'm going to do this game totally myself! :) I can't wait to see what's in store! (BTW, you already finished the ENTIRE game??? How much were you playing it??? :P)

Oh haha and I forgot to mention last year I did a whole lit program on the LOTR books and loved it if any one would b interested to get the name just to do it 4 fun (cause it was fun) or if ur homeschooled a possible lit program I think I could give u a name but it was really fun cause it talked about tolkien and his life and how he made all the different dialects of middle earth and it was just really cool… I have a friend that is into LOTR too and one of said persons older brother's friends posted on facebook 'didn't study for my exam last night and stayed up till 2 watching LOTR :-)' and someone commented 'u shall not pass!' Haha lol I thought that was so clever and funny! Sorry for the lenthy posts I just get really excited lol :-)

To much probebly…. jk haha…. we aren't going to play 3 hours a day since we beat it any more lol…. understand though like the last time I played a vidio game was when the star wars full 6 movie game came out lol so I don't do this often. :-)

no! The ring is corupting it is destoryed too it would just corupt whoever used it. :-)

WHOA!!!! You finished the whole game in what a week? It would probably take me two whole months!!!

So you can't use it after you beat the game?

No at. Least it wouldn't make sense cause it's destroyed. We haven't quite colected everything. ;-) I just dicovered a new mini level that was hiden and it's really cool. :-)

What system did you get it on? I have a PC, and it hasn't come out here for PC yet! I'm really annoyed…..

I have an x box 360 lol. I didn't even no they still made games for computers. Is that what u ment when u said pc?
@witness4Christ I guess I think of the three LOTR books as one book so it's kinda hard to choose a fav…. I like that the first one is the least dark of them all but they r all just so epic.. :-)

I am a big fan of LOTR! I love the books, the movies, and the music soundtracks. I love all of the books including the Hobbit and the Silmarillion. I can't wait to see the Hobbit, though I am disappointed about it being three different movies. :(

Hey, here's the bright side–since there are three movies, there's a lot more to look forward to! :)

Yeah, for like what, two and a half or three years? But it will be cool to see Beren the Skin-Changer, and the Mirkwood spiders. But after seeing the Return of the King, I thought elves couldn't get drunk! BTW, is it true that Legolas will be in any of the movies? 'Cuz Lego has announced the sets that will come out alongside the Hobbit movies, and Legolas is in the Mirkwood Spiders set along with an elf named Tauriel. But I digress.

Just writin' this to point out that the "Skin-Changer's" name is not Beren, but Beorn. :)

I heard that yes, Legolas will be in at least one movie even though he wasn't in the book, and that he will be fighting spiders. :)

Just so you know….
Beren Erchamion, the One-Handed, was the man who, along with Luthien Tinuviel, daughter of Melian the Maia and Thingol, an elf-lord, and also the help of Huan the greatest hound in Middle-earth, went into Morgoth's fortress Angband and stole one of the Silmaril's from the Dark Lord's crown (they used a knife called Angrist [pretty sure] that could cut metal. It broke when Beren tried to cut out a second Silmaril, though).
Beren was not a skin-changer.
(Oh, and that happened in the Silmarillion)

As to the reference to the simarillian it's a great book if u haven't read it u need to haha I'm saying this after reading the prolouge and the first chapter that is really like a second prolouge :-) any way it's awesome! But I believe there r 2 different barans one is the one in the sima (I'll call it that for short) and one is the skin-changer from the hobbit…. I wonder if they will keep him in the movie being that he is rather erelavent and they took out tom bom (for short lol) who was a character of much the same nature. That said I think they may change his role entirely and make him a bigger or much smaller part of the story.

And anyway, what's a vowel among friends?

I think that would be either "i" or "e." :-)

He was a human king, and it is a city in the Inheritance cycle.

I thought he was an elf? He was the last High King, first bearer of Vilya, the strongest of the rings.

DING DING DING! We have a WINNER! Yes, he was the last High King, and he gave Vilya to Elrond before the Battle of the Last Alliance.

Now I've got a question for you. When did the hobbits come into existence? The Silmarillion talks about the creation of men, elves, and dwarves, but not hobbits! Where did they come from?! :)
