The Lord of the Rings
Started by Hiruko Kagetaneδούλος
Not a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings, like some others … I have no clue what ring Gandalf had. Wasn't his name Galadriel He got it in the Hobbit, it was an elvish sword.
Hiruko Kagetane
Gandalf had Narya, the Ring of Fire, and the name of his sword was Glamdring, not Galadriel. Galadriel is an elf. But if you were an Orc, you simple called Gandalf's sword Beater. It was supposed to glow blue like Frodo's but that wasn't part of the movies, unfortunatly. Here's another question: What is Gandalf? Is he a Man? Or if that's too hard, what is the name of Aragorn's sword?
BTW, I am disappointed they didn't have Tom Bombadil in the movies. But, if you can play Lego Lord of the Rings: The Video Game, you can unlock and play as him! And he has his yellow boots and blue coat and everything!
Sarah Johnston
Gandalf is NOT a man! He is one of the Istari like Ragadast the Brown and Saruman the White. I think the Istari where probably Maiar. They were sent by the Valar to help in the struggles against Sauron.
Oh, I love your username! He has to be my favorite hobbit. :)
Sarah Johnston
Oh yeah, and after the Sword That was Broken was reforged, Aragorn carried around Anduril. What was the name of Gimli's axe? :)
Hiruko Kagetane
Wow, Gimli's axe has a name? Time to break out the books! Which one, his first axe, or the one he got from Balin's tomb in Moria? Anyhoo, in the movie, Aragorn got Anduril just before the Battle of Pellenor Fields. In the books he had it before they left Rivendell. But I digress.
Sarah Johnston
Jk! as far as I know, his axe had no name. It should've, though! :)
How old was Legolas? Does it ever mention that in the books?
SavedByGrace
I might have been disappointed that Tom Bombadil wasn't in the movies… except that I only discovered his existence after I had already watched them. :P It would have been cool to have him in the movie. :) And that is so great that he is in the video game! I can't wait until we buy that thing… :)
Hiruko Kagetane
Yeah, and a lot of other book-only characters will be in the game: Smeagol, Prince Imrahil, Beregornd, Farmer Maggot, a Barrow-Wight, a Mini-Balrog, and others. But they only come in character packs that you could get if you pre-ordered the game for PS3 or Xbox 360, or got the packs from eBay. So now I'm thinking of upgrading to a 360……….
EDIT: And the main reason is that an unlockable Sauron is in the character packs………
Hiruko Kagetane
I don't think it does……I'll have to check, but we do know he's several millenia old. And still lookin' good!
SavedByGrace
Hey, Smeagol is in the movies!
Dani(elle)
I no I'm not supost to ask this but in lego LOTR the vidio game how do u find mithril explosives?!?!? :-) how do u no that those charactors r in the game? We have tom, but I haven't found the rest of them.
Hiruko Kagetane
I don't know, use the Map, and try to find all the Blacksmith Designs. Lego.wikia.com is where I found the complete list of characters. Tom Bombadil is cool though!
Dani(elle)
Does tom have any special powers? I have him but I havn't play with him at all.

Hey everyone:
I saw the Hobbit today!!!!
It was great.
Can't wait to see part two and three!!!
SavedByGrace
Oh, how I wish I could have seen it too. I CANNOT WAIT until I get to see it!! :) :)
Sarah Johnston
Was it as good as the Lord of the Rings? Was Legolas in the first movie? I can't wait!!! We're gonna go see it next week! :)
δούλος
Wait Part 2 and 3? I don't know much just heard it was coming out. Does it follow the book. Obviously, you think it was good. Can you tell me why you thought so? Looking for more information to decide whether I should go watch it or not.
Dani(elle)
If u have see lotr u should def go see it!
Karthmin Aretani
Yeah, they're splitting it up into three different parts, because it was just too much to put into one. (After seeing it, I can tell why they have split it up. I think it was actually a good move.)
It follows the main plot of the book actually pretty well (I thought), especially for a movie. All the main incidents in the book happen fairly similar to how they happen in the book. What is changed is mainly what the movie adds.
Bilbo is not very much developed as a character at first, but through the course of it, he comes out more, which is good.
I think they did a really good job creating individual personalities for the dwarves. With thirteen of them, it would be difficult not to just have a stereotypical mass of dwarves; but the movie kept pretty clear of that, I thought. Not every dwarf is the stereotypical axe-wielding, bellowing Gimli; but taken together, they were really good.
Some might think that it is unfortunate that the childish charm of the book was rather lost. But if you put the Hobbit into movie form, that is what you are going to have to deal with, simply because orcs are orcs, and war and battle is bloody and ugly - and the book kind of overlooks that; but the movie doesn't try to. Also, Imladris (Rivendell) was unfortunately shorn of the happily singing elves that roamed in the valley all through the night. (They seem much less happy-go-lucky, though, which would be extremely out of place.)
The age-long enmity between dwarves and elves is shown very accurately, which I appreciated a lot.
The movie includes a White Counsel, which I thought they did a good job at, except that I happen not to like the movie rendition of Lady Galadriel (in any of the movies) very much.
Hope that helps you decide either way…they had a couple good one-liners, too (can't think of them off the top of my head, though).

So I understand Legalous isn't in the first movie……:-(
Karthmin Aretani
No, they didn't even make it to Mirkwood (I'll say that much, but no more, to prevent myself from spoiling it).
Dani(elle)
I already no a lot… but ur right people might not want to no…… but I really want to talk about it! Can people plz say if u don't want us to ruin it? I won't say anything until I no people don't care so ur safe I just want to no. :-)
SavedByGrace
I don't want it to be ruined! :) Just don't say anything that would spoil it. :)
Andrew
Does anybody know when the second hobbit movie is coming out?
SavedByGrace
December 13, 2013. :)
Sarah Johnston
I saw it last night! It was AWESOME! :) No Legolas, but the dwarves are really well done. Each one has a different personality. I was very disappointed to find out, though, that according to the book my three favorite dwarves will die by the end. sniff sniff. I don't mind if the movie makers change that. :) All LoTR fans will love it!
Dani(elle)
Ok lol I will honor ur wishes….lol :-)
Dani(elle)
Hey merry Christmas late everyone :) haha did anyone get the Lego LOTR for Christmas? My little brother got helms deep it's really cool looking. So does anyone no who the girl in the spider set with Legolous is??????
Sarah Johnston
My little brothers got Helm's Deep also! The girl is Tauriel. She isn't in the Hobbit book, but they are putting her in the movie. That is a Hobbit set.
My brothers have pretty much all of the Lord of the Rings sets. We have been having a lot of fun playing with them. I have the LoTR soundtrack music, so we played that in the background while having our battles. :)
My older brother got us the Lego LoTR computer game, but it doesn't work on our computer! We need some kind of gaming something or another. :( Very disappointing. We will have to wait until we get a new computer.
SavedByGrace
I don't have any LEGO Lord of the Rings sets, but I got something I think is far better… the video game! I haven't gotten to play it yet, but I think I will today. I can't wait! :)
SavedByGrace
So, I got to play the video game last night! I have to say, although I was expecting it to be different than the other LEGO games, I didn't expect it to be this different! I really like how you can build up your "armory" as you go throughout the game, and especially how you can build and wear Mithril armor. And the open world is a lot different (and bigger) than I thought! I can't wait to get farther (or is it "further"?) in the game!
Hiruko Kagetane
So, what have you built in Mithril? Mithril rope is going to be very useful! The Mithril Ice Bow is fun to use too……
SavedByGrace
So far, I've only built a Mithril trowel for some guy who wanted me to get him a new one. :P (However, because I got him the trowel, he gave me the Red Brick for a Quest Finder! I had to pay 50,000 studs to get it, though…) I've also gotten a couple of Mithril designs along the way, but I haven't gotten to build any yet. What exactly does Mithril rope do?
Hiruko Kagetane
The same thing that regular rope does, except that anyone can use it, not just Samwise,
SavedByGrace
Umm… what does regular rope do? I've only just gotten out of the Mines of Moria, so I haven't gotten to use mine yet. :)
Hiruko Kagetane
Oh……..that was dumb of me to say….oh well! It helps you get to different places in levels. I haven't had all that much time to play the game( Christmas rush and all that) but I have gone through all the levels. Oh, if you get the Mithril Ice Bow, if you hit someone, you'll freeze them!
SavedByGrace
Sounds great! I can't wait to see what all those other designs are; it looked like there were at least a hundred! :)
Hiruko Kagetane
I know, right? I'm thinkin' most of them are either in Free Play, or you get them on quests, or around Middle-Earth.
SavedByGrace
I'm glad I got that Quest Finder; now it won't be difficult to do them. But for some reason, a lot of the doors that lead to where quests can be found are locked; can they be opened only by certain characters, or do they open automatically when you complete something else in the game? And also, what exactly is Free Play like? At first, I wasn't even sure there was going to be a Free Play.
P.S. One random question, which I am not sure you'll have the answer to: the same guy in Bree who asked me to build a Mithril trowel later asked me to find his soup pot, which he said he left somewhere along the road where the Black Riders had been. Would you happen to know where exactly that is? I can't find it anywhere! :)
Hiruko Kagetane
Sorry bro, I don't know where that is. I told you, I haven't had all that much time to play it, but when I do, I'll let you know. BTW, what's you favorite cutscene so far?
Dani(elle)
U will find the soup pot when u play the black rider
Level in free play that's how we found it it will go into the treasure trove and u can go back to the guy and give it to him. by the way I found Lego explosives…. They r awesome! We are working towards 100 percent we only have 1 blacksmith design left to find the one in the paths of the dead. Ahhh! Idk how many treasure chests or trove items.
SavedByGrace
Hmm, favorite cutscene… That's pretty hard! They all have something funny in them, of course. I'd have to say that my favorite one so far is the first one, where the giving of the nineteen rings, the making of the one Ring, and the formation of the Last Alliance is explained.
Dani(elle)
I like that one too!!! They have him like speaking in elvish like the movie. Have either of u gotten to Amon hen yet? (Don't want to ruin it for u:) )
SavedByGrace
I'm not even sure what that is, so I guess not. :)
Sydney (aka The Gopher)
Who here has seen the Hobbit movie?
SavedByGrace
I have not, but I SO badly want to see it!! :)
Jayko Leonard, secret agent
I have :)
SavedByGrace
Finally!!!! We finally saw The Hobbit today! It was even more exciting than I had expected, and it stuck pretty close to the book. Now I can't wait to see the second one! :)
Dani(elle)
Amon hen is where The orcs take the merry and pippin and the fellowship breaks up (did I just spell it wrong?) I haven't seen the hobbit but I don't care if u talk all about it lol.
